any band in the world must feel like pee on's standing next to the founders of rush. What an amazing feeling it must be for this guy to be in the presents of these guys. Long live rush! Canada #1
In THs interview of 5 fav things, the fact that he played with one of his favorite bands and that his dedication to the art of music was and is so strong, there is no wondering why he shares the stage with Rush! Congrats to seeing a dream, working towards and definitely accomplishing it. You can see that THs talant is amazing yet he has many decades left in him.
One can only wonder and wait in anticipation to see his future performances.
Um, I was being a bit sarcastic as my name would imply that I certainly don't think of them as just "above average" ;) But I like the Dale Cooper bit.. lol
Hey I'm actually a death metal geek, but I like a lot of progressive stuff too, so I thought why not give RUSH a try, so can you recommend like 2 or 3 albums?
But Im still glad that Neil came into the picture (sorry Rutsey RIP) because his amazingly complex lyrics got me thinking again and in three months after i started listening to it i transformed from a D student to a B student.
well the thing is poor neil lost his wife and daughter nearly at the same year making him retire off the band but later he joined back and rush is better than ever I see them everytime
No. just plays on the tours. this was a special appearance by geddy and erik to play with Taylor the foo drummer. It was adream of his as it would be ANY drummer on the planet to TRY to step into Neil's shoes.
Neil does not just play on the tours, he writes all the lyrics and does the packaging for the product. Who is this guy Erik you refer to , or are you mistaken and meaning Alex , as in Alex Lifeson , the one who has been with the band for 30+ years.....?Neil has never liked interviews and didn't even show up to a meet n greet with a guy who won a radio contest for doing the best Rush drumming impersonation.Vidiot is correct, but I'm not sure where the "V' comes from.....
Waoh! It wasn't until the bass solo came in that I went "Hey! this is Working Man!" Guess I wasnt paying attention. Anyways, that had to have been a great show.
Holy S@#T! Man they are paying tribute to Rush. Do any of you have the balls to jam with these guys. We all know that Rush is from another dimension. When I listen to Xanadu: they put more work into that one song than most bands put into thier whole careers.
Chill out dudes. Foo Fighters are huge Rush fans. Perhaps Rush likes Foo Fighters? I'm sure Rush made their teenhood dreams come true by playing live with them. Bottom line is that they were all having a blast on stage...is there anything wrong with that?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I hope the Foo Fighters realize that they are worthy of the sweat that drips from Alex, Geddy or Neil's forehead during a show. How did these guys end up playing with Rush? What did they pay them??? A band like Rush has no equals in the music world, they have a college course named after them for Christs sake! Don't believe me, look it up, RUSH 101.
I was at this show. What an awesome surprise when Geddy and Alex came up on stage! They did YYZ. I wish they had done at least one more song with the Foos...
Man, I thought this whole "Neil's better, Tommy Lee's better, Wackerman's better" all went away back in high school, I enjoy the shit out of all of them, when you get older you realize that music isn't a competition but moreso it is getting together with friends in the fellowship of music, I'm still having a blast playing music at 40 and love hearing my bass playing buddies just blow the roof off the place on my rig, it's so much fun.
Amen to that! If the music moves you, the players are great - period. If the music is boring, it doesn't matter how fast they play - check Yngwie as exhibit number one.
Or, it could've been written by someone who knows what they're talking about. I have watched up (and read up) on his interviews, and he started on guitar, and only learned drums when he didn't like his drummer and knew he could do it better. And he did. Anal-yze that.
You know Foo Fighters grew up listening to Rush albums, this must have been such a dream come true to have them join the show! How great that must have been, the Old and the New, two great bands!
Rush is still touring to promote their live album for snakes and arrows, I saw them first and second time =) That would be so intense to go to a combined show with them- Neil Peart would rip off Taylor Hawkin's face, along with dave grohl though.
Definitely. Though Taylor Hawkin's is still really good. He's one of the best modern day drummers. Sort of how Alex Lifeson could totally rip apart John Frusciante and Derrick Trucks, but they're the best modern day guitarists.
Luckily, Rush isn't quite gone yet (and Neil Peart is still the best drummer alive). Lets hope that they stay together another 30 years (by then the Rock n' Roll hall of fame will HAVE to let them in)!
I'm surprised they aren't in already, they are one of the most consistent bands ever. Alex Lifeson is legendary, and Neil Peart can rip apart ANY stupid death metal piece of crap that has their hands on a double bass pedal. lol. Rush will live forever, and I don't think Neil is slowing down guys =) his last drum solo was the best one yet, and it's only a matter of time before they come out with the next album.
Well, I'm really just pissed off that they got passed by for Van Halen. Sure, Van Halen is great, but they just can't compare to something as legendary as Rush! I mean, Geddy can play and sing circles around the singer/bass players for Van Halen (I don't like them enough to know their names) at the same time! Alex and Eddie would be close, but Alex is technically better. Personally, I think Eddie's over rated.
Then Neil Peart is just the best rock drummer ever. There's no contest.
Alex is eddies' equal Van Halen is all around talented too. Geddy is better and neil is better, plain and simple. I like both groups, and Rush has far better sings and way more of them. I wouldn't knock Eddie Van Halen, he is a very talented musician and if it were in technical skill and not creativity he would take the cake over alex and many others. Nick Raskulinecz has been a long time producer for the Foo Fighters' albums. He also produced Snakes and Arrows for Rush.
Taylor Hawkins and Dave Grohl have always been Rush fans so Nick Raskulinecz organized this little shin-dig for the toronto show.
