@kingding48 if you do the whole pipe like i did and made a blanket to go under the intercooler so the rising heat from the engine doesnt rise in to the intercooler yeah it make a diffrence. if youve been stood engine running for a while it which is where most of soak would happen it does prevent it.
@darrenjlobb hello. I have an escort mk6 with the lucas fuel pump and I messed up with the boost compensator. Could you tell me how many turns does it take to make it stock again. Thanks.
All you are doing is sending in too much diesel which results in black smoke. A common mistake made. The only way to use that extra diesel is to make each cylinder bigger. You are decreasing performance and efficiency.
@urbex2007 you obiously know fuck all about this. black smoke on a diesel is the result of unburnt diesel. by giving a lucas or bosch pump a tune known as a stage one which is were the fuel amount is increased you are delivering a higher amount of diesel compaired to the orignal lean burn. this will result in more power and has been proven about a million times! the only reason you get black smoke is if you over fuel massively by turning more then 15 degree.
@urbex2007 No, the only way to make use of the extra fuel is to increase the amount of air, returning the a/f ratio to 13 ish, Since he is increasing his turbo pressure, that means more air so he has to compensate for this by increasing the amount of fuel.
@Dave424123 that should always work.. but he needs ECU with boost read to get rid of the extra smoke - revs or load won't tell correctly ECU about if the air is comming in etc...
take it from the T piece on the boost compensator pipe. go left of the cambelt and there is a hole. poke it through there and u will end up in the drivers side wheel arch. then take this behind the arch liner and behind the wing and poke it through to the door hinge. then you can either try and pull it thought the wiring gromit but i wouldnt recommend it as it mite upset the sh*te wiring. but just bring it in via the door shut. and loop it under the dash to where ever you want.
mate ive just tuned my d turbo an its made a great difference to my car the only thing is i havent put my boost gauge on yet, i done the boost compensator an max fuel, do i need to adjust the turbo from behind the wheel? is it a must r does it just give more power?
yes mate you really need to adjust the boost pressure. as the standard boost maybe too low to get the best out of the fueling. but you shouldnt attempt to adjust the boost without a boost gauge as you can run too much boost can kill the head gasket.
halfords normally have a boost guage for about £20 if it doesnt have the rubber pipe or a T piece with it ,go to B&Q and you can buy a box of T pieces for £3 and they have plent of "cut to length" pipe for about 80p a metre. have fun!
Nice video. I really enjoyed watching it. I am running a marketing campaign to start a large auto detailing chain corporation. Let me know what you think by checking out my channel. Thanks
not by much. if you do a small turn say 5-8degree which isnt alot. u will feel a little more poke and better mpg as u dont need to plant it as much. 15degree and more and it will go down. but it all depends on how much u boot it. iv had 48mpg if ur like me and ur always sitting on the boost down lanes but do take it easy from time to time you will return. 38-40mpg.
@shuhelali I've not had experience with D-Turbo, but on my 1.5td Corsa I've done the same, if I give it alot of beans fuel economy drops to like 25mpg!! But if I can resist the temptation to boot it, I still get over 40mpg. So in answer to your question- Very badly if you drive it hard, but not very much at all if you can stay off the loud pedal................!
mate ive been watching these vids cus im gona do mine but for all the trouble its worth.. is it reli worth it. is there much of a difference or bearly rekoniseable?
its very noticable mate. go some where with a straight bit of road. and do a 0-60 time. it will be about 11-12sec standard. do this and you will take that down to 9 sec. a few more things like free flowing exhaust and K&N replacement. and you will be about 8 sec. each engine has diffrent outputs. but yeah its very noticeable.
in short its free power. doesnt cost you and it takes you half an hour to do. makes overtaking much safer as you've got more power to just get up and go.
yeah pretty much mate. as long as its a dturbo and not a HDI. there is only two types of fuel pump and this is the hardest one to do(lucas). and as you can see its pretty simple if you see it being done.
I thought the minimal PSI on stock is around 12psi? any less and there could be a problem.

@icecage001 These don;t have ECU's, they are mechanical fuel pumps hence why you can tune them, rather than being electrical
