If you didn't watch tv, you wouldnt have found gems like that scene in "Network" .. I recommend watching tv RESPONSIBLY. Years ago my daughters from a failed marriage, then 4 and 6, came to my place for a visit. They wanted to know where my tv was. I told them I don't have a tv. They proceeded to ask, then what do you do?

I told them I play and write music and will listen to the radio on occasion but I spend most of my time outside my apartment. We played with my mixing board and they used my mics and we cooked dinner and played make believe, children love that. A great time without any tv.

Most people are familiar with the Peter Finch rant from the movie "Network" but in my opinion the most important, yet overlooked scene, was the powerful "sermon" that the Ned Beatty character unleashes on the Peter Finch character in the large board room with the drapes drawn. ....Definitely a well crafted unapologetic Illuminist rant!
