I might not get a rational argument out of you, but here goes. In regards to the goalie being fair game once they leave the crease, did you ever consider that even though they have extra padding, their mobility is reduced and is not the same as any other player on the ice. This could result in an increased likelihood to them being injured since hits might not be absorbed and adjusted for in the proper manner. Also, Lindros basically punched him in the face - acting or not, that was a penalty.

LIndros pawned i n his carrier. no Stanley cup, but raded for Forsberg, that got 2 cups. And a hall of fame. No hall of fame for Lindros. LIndros is a big waste. He can fight, and the ugly play. Lindros is nothing but a bust.

A bit silly by both players. Lindros was best when he played like a prick, though, and Hasek certainly was a little bit nasty too.

kind of a cheap shot but hasek clearly over-reacted. you can see lindros doesn't even wind up or anything, it was more like pushing his face. no reason to lie on the ice like a jack ass. and before any hasek worshipers start crying i do admit he was an awesome goaltender, my favorite to watch as a kid but seriously step back and watch this as if it was anyone else.

Lindros fought Stevens about 2 or 3 times and won them all not to mention one of them in which he beat the piss out of Stevens. Yeah Stevens got that hard hit on Lindros that hurt him in the playoffs but over their entire career Lindros got the best of him. Lindros had over what like 8 concussions in his career and still kept coming back. Thats tough as shit as far as im concerned. Thats HEART. And Lindros came back and kept playing and walked away from the game on his own terms.

listen to any NHL announcer talk to any NHL analysis.. they will all say the same thing.. Steven's ended his career. After he was knocked to the ground he NEVER played another game as a flyer. and sat out the ENTIRE next season and then finished up as a ranger... and your saying that had nothing to do with get leveled by stevens? he did not walk away on his own.. he had to...

Lindros didnt finish his career with the Rangers. He played 5 more years after he finished with the Flyers. 3 with the Rangers, 1 with Toronto and 1 with Dallas

I might not get a rational argument out of you, but here goes. In regards to the goalie being fair game once they leave the crease, did you ever consider that even though they have extra padding, their mobility is reduced and is not the same as any other player on the ice. This could result in an increased likelihood to them being injured since hits might not be absorbed and adjusted for in the proper manner. Also, Lindros basically punched him in the face - acting or not, that was a penalty.

I understand what your saying but im not talking about mobility. Im not talking about the goalie skating around and throwing a body check. Im saying he can absorb a hit better than anyone because of all the padding. And Its not just about his padding. Im saying if he leaves his area then he is going into the line of fire. Its like he is running out into the street in the middle of traffic. If he is gonna take that risk then there should be consequences. He should be fair game.

I can see your point too, but in this particular video, Lindros would have been penalized whether it was a goalie or not - he basically reached out and swatted Hasek. We can agree to disagree on the rest.

He's a player on the ice just like everyone else. Yeah he's a goalie but thats the chance he has to take if he is gonna come out that far. Id like to know why goalies can throw bodychecks to players but they cant be checked themselves. While we're on rules PLEASE GET RID OF POINTS FOR OT LOSSES. The Islanders are 5pts behind 1st place all because they have 7pts from 7OT losses. And please get rid of the STUPID SHOOTOUTS! Its an unfair way to decide the outcome of a game. Play til someone wins

On the topic of rules, I think we see more eye to eye. I don't like shootouts and I don't grasp why points are awarded for losing shootouts or in overtime. If they kept the shootouts and the 2 points went to the victor and nothing to the loser, I would be able to live with them better. Have a good weekend.

As far as im concerned, when a goalie comes out of net, especially THAT far then he's fair game. Besides, he has more protective padding than anyone in the game so i dont want to hear any whining. What Lindros did was smart because when you get inside Hasek's head he gets flustered and is off his game. 2nd of all, to the moron that said Stevens took him out twice?? Are you serious? You might want to go back to your old hockey highlights because Stevens NEVER beat Lindros in a fight ever.
