  • What a horrible review !!! Say 2 words about the graphics and sound, like graphics are good and sound is ok and then move on to the gameplay. I want to know what this game is about. What kind of leveling system does it have? Skills, mana, items, crafting ....

  • that first person shooter with rpg elements is called FIRST PERSON FIGHTER.geesh.

  • 1. This isn't an FPS. It's first-person action.

    2. It's technically also considered an "action-RPG."

    3. First-person fighter would be something like Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat in first-person.

  • Can somebody please tell me if people play the multiplayer on the PC. I've played the story countless times on the Xbox 360, but nobody plays multiplayer.

  • Nobody plays MP on PC either.

  • there is NO rpg element in this game. you can pick perks that are unlocked from finishing maps and bosses, but thats all.

FPS is all there is to it, there is no rpg. ACTION and ACTION. Perfect action.. x)

  • The skill progression is considered an RPG element, though I do agree that it's far more action than anything else. Still, try playing through the game without improving your skills.

  • @DWTerminator Ouch. Thanks, you got me thinking there actually. This is indeed an RPG. A full grown, linear RPG. Zero dialogue interaction ala Fallout, but there are two moral choices to be made during the story, and investing skill points offers-aside from the many ways to kill enemies- an extra replay aspect that regular FPS games don't. It´s a very Jedi Academy sort of RPG. Omg, it´s exactly the same :)

  • @DWTerminator *spoiling comment removed*

It´s great fun playing without combat skills, but I could never beat the game without ANY skill point. Perhaps you still can read my removed comment, but i´ll say it again; I only use the short sword and the adrenaline surge- I block to abort "impact animation" reseting the sword arm for another power strike. Repeat. Its hilarious ;)

Great review btw and thanks for correcting me back there.

  • Can't read your removed comment actually.

You basically use exploits to beat the game then... tsk tsk tsk. Much more fun to blast foes with spells or demolish them with the melee weapons.

To clarify what makes it an RPG: the skills (stats) do significantly influence the gameplay and your character grows/improves over time, and there are 4 endings brought about by your choices in the game. If those two elements weren't here, it'd be a standard FPA.

    Also, you're welcome.

  • @DWTerminator YES to variety! Not only are the many weapons and their coherent skills awesome, but the spells are practicly designed for environmental warfare(pardion english).

I whole heartedly yield on the RPG aspect, good sir Terminator. So- bear with me lol^^ First you need a sword(shortsword for longer fights, right?) then you do this:

doubleclick*hold*ALTstrafe left and release for powerstrike. This combo delivers two swift swipes and a power strike. please try it? (:

  • My ideal multiplayer video game: An Elder Scrolls setting. A Fuel sized map. Mount and Blade combat. Dark Messiah magic. A need to eat and rest. Goals attainted with teamwork. Limited to first person. And finally, low health for all PCs and NPCs so battles are based on who finds the openings, not who has the greater stats and items and hp.

Will this ever happen beyond Mortal Online and Darkfall? Or am I doomed to see more cartooney point-and-click hand-holding World of Warcraps forevermore?

  • @travro25 After Cataclysm, WoW sucks, after Mists of Pandaria it will be worest MMORPG

  • is there something like unlocks, like at tf2?

  • In multiplayer there are some upgrades for the different classes as you play them.

  • @DWTerminator thanks

  • Can someone help me? I have Skyrim for 360 but I want to know how different is this from skyrim? It looks pretty good and my pc can handle it but I wanna know if its worth the 10 dollars? Cheapness ftw

  • This is linear, shorter, and has multiplayer, but it has far better combat.

  • @itshalowolf its worth the ten bucks!

  • @itshalowolf If you buy it you won't regret

  • i think the critics didnt like it because oblivion came out around the same time this game did

  • Probably more like the "big critics" were told what to write, as they usually are.

  • @itshalowolf It's short, quite linear, but the combat plays like Skyrim should. For 10 dollars I would definitely not pass it up though.

  • Dark Messiah of Might and Magic: Elements Review

Nearly two years after its buggy debut on the PC, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic comes to the Xbox 360 with even more problems.

  • Great review. Im very tempted to buy this game but Im holding out for skyrim. Arkane studios is currently working on dishonored which is somewhat of a mix between this and deus ex.

  • Yeah, Dishonored could be interesting. Glad you liked the review.

  • "Thanks for watching," Thanks for the review!

  • Glad you liked it.

  • this game was a journey, i loved this game so much.

  • can you imagine oblivion with this gameplay awesome!

  • Really good review, I bought this on release but sadly it woudn't run on my PC. I got a refund and then a week ago someone recommended it to me, so I thought OH THAT GAME why not, I was really impressed, Leanna was one of the only female companion that isn't annoying in any game I've played.

It really saddens me that the Critics mostly hated it, the devs did a brilliant job on it and to be perfectly honest I consider it one of my top 10 Single Player games.

    Anyway I subscribed.

  • Glad you liked it, and yes, DMoMM is highly underrated. Its shortcomings simply don't prevent it from being a blast to play.

  • @TheIronTyrant Tell me about. One reviewer gave it a low score because you can exploit kicking? Seriously..

  • i got it for like 5 $ as well sweet deal :D and the game's ok too i like it

  • you just got yourself a subscriber!

  • FIANLY! Great review! incrediby underrated game! love it! keep up the good work!

  • Glad you liked it.

  • I liked it, and they should make a Dark Messiah 2.

I played this game over and over again.

  • Dark Messiah didn't sell very well so I doubt there'll be a DMoMM2 any time soon. It'd be nice though. Right now Arkane's working on a stealth game from what I've heard, though.

  • @DWTerminator Ok.

  • @gidro1998 Kinda sad they making dishonored sigh why Arkane Studio!!!. Make DM 2pls!!

  • Dark Messiah didn't sell particularly well. Need I say more?

  • @DWTerminator Even so could continue haizz Arkane Studio. Especially Ubisoft it now alot fans wants 2 it's time petition!!

  • @Dragonshadow123 I AGREE! I can still play this game now.

  • @gidro1998 Eh petition man I hope Arkane Studio would see this.!

  • Good lord, I'd almost forgotten about this game. First played it when it came out, and I thought it was very good. Your review summed it up nicely. I'm installing this again right now, as I'm remembering some really stunning settings that I feel the need to visit again.

  • I really thought that the voices were great. Only some guards and enemies have shit comments.

But Sareth has a good voice with emotions and Xana is incredible. Sorry for the late reply for such a game.

  • Xana's downright annoying (the whole "slut and proud of it" thing is EXTREMELY irritating to me) and Sareth sounds pretty disinterested most of the time. If they were going for some of the cheesiest VO's to ever be in gaming, though, they nailed it.

  • @DWTerminator

Okay, well I though differently :P

I liked Xana and Sareth, only the enemies are annoying and Leanna. There are worse things though. Thanks for your opinion.

  • I found Leanna to be much less irritating. Mostly because she doesn't try to get you in bed with her the entire game for some (probably AIDS-infested) demon "fun." -_-

  • Great comments, Great review. Great job. I had a genuinely good time watching your video. thanks for this.

  • Glad you liked it.

  • gaaaay hes warning us about the nudity

  • No. I'm warning parents about it in case they don't want their kids to play this game.

  • This game is beasty on xbox!

  • Nice review. The first time I heard of the game and saw the trailer before it was even released I thought "Nah, another one of those Might and Magic games." I never really liked that series so I never thought about it again. But this game is completely different frome them. I'm totally buying it. Thanks!

  • Glad you liked the review, and I hope you enjoy the game.

  • Nudity, I'm buying this! :3

  • It's very brief and barely noticeable, to be honest.

  • @DWTerminator I was just joking, I dont care if it has nudity. d:

  • *facepalm*

  • wow lol not for kids under 18.... well i played it right after it came out and i was like 8 or 9 years old... lol!

  • Keep in mind the rest of the Might & Magic games are either 6+ or 13+. Age recommendations are for the parents to decide whether or not a game's suitable for their children, not to exclude people from playing them (unless you're in a country that enforces them by law).

  • If you do, I hope you enjoy it. Might want to try the demo out first.

  • @DWTerminator I think your review was really good, it was an honest, fair review, we need more of those. Your points are absolutely valid. the only thing that bugged me that you did not mention, was some of the points at the last few chapters, were some of your choices can be a bit hard to understand, like where to go to (spoiler) do that thing with Xana, I missed that. other than that it is a definite buy!

  • The endgame choices really aren't that hard to find if you go exploring like I do. Might want to look into my Let's Play of it if you're wanting to find a lot of the extra goodies.

  • It's not like kids must not play gory/scary games. I played Resident Evil and Silent Hill when I was like 10 or smth and I loved it

  • This game's got a lot of sexual reference and some brief nudity in it too. It's up to the parents to decide whether this game is acceptable for a kid to play though.

  • Good review, but can you tell me what modes are there in multiplayer? I understand that due to the laggy nature of it you might have had problems experiencing problems with it, but maybe you remember something being mentioned on the loading screens or on the server list.

  • From what I remember there was a free-for-all sorta mode and an objective mode (objectives varied depending on the map).

  • @DWTerminator Thanks, approximately what objectives can be encountered?

  • I don't remember.

  • @DWTerminator That's quite sad, anyway thanks.

  • Sad? Not really. By the time I was trying to play multiplayer, there were hardly any players and the game was practically unplayable due to lag. DM's definitely a singleplayer > multiplayer game.

  • @DWTerminator Alright, I was just wondering, thanks for the info though anyway.

  • No problem.

  • It came out during the wrong time and was heavily compared to the other games during its time. It's simply "different" and critics sure missed out. Played through it and it was quite good.

  • Most of the complaints I've seen for this game are related to the bugs (which certainly can be problematic), story, and voice acting. They never really say how fun the gameplay is. Pretty sad really. The "big reviewers" give endless praise to the drudgery of Oblivion, but act like Dark Messiah's a scourge on gaming.

  • One of the best action game ever which has the best fighting scene in the all world !.There is no better game than this one!.I hope Skyrim will be better but who knows ;].

  • I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure this game got some kind of reward for it's A.I.

  • You're quite wrong. This didn't win any awards.

  • That was a good review! :)

  • Glad you liked it.

  • Man I love your reviews! I love how you get down to the point and tell EVERYTHING and still give a true review. keep up the good work!

  • Glad you like them.

  • also are there any reasonably priced 2gb nvidea cards? beacuse i'm getting a grafix card and am not sure which to get, i have around £200 budget

  • 2GB? I don't think so. 1GB, maybe. I haven't stayed very up-to-date on gaming hardware.

  • @TheAlexagius ya they dont have any 2gb cards right now only 1.5gb but for that much you can get like a bad 1gb one

  • @skgivesgold really? saffire does they got 1 for bout £220 i think i'll get it

  • it runs fine for my ati

  • this game is good, but i did get a bit bored after a while. aside from that, the kills were good enough to keep me interested

  • >_< ugh, i wish laptops were able to upgrade graphic cards. I would be able to play SOOOOOO many games if it weren't for my stupid graphics card.

  • it's only windows xp thats bad :( beacuse i have the game and i try to install it but it doesnt work

  • It should work on Vista/7... Ever try running it in compatibility for XP?

  • @superpkerz0x it works off steam, i'm running windows 7 64 bit

  • i couldnt get steam on my computer and i really wanted this game and only steam had it? I tried getting rid of steam but it wont uninstall now :(

But i did find dark messiah at a XS Cargo store for only $5 :D

  • You don't need Steam to play Dark Messiah (unless you want to play the multiplayer). If you have a retail copy of the game, you can play with a simple disc check for singleplayer.

  • This game ran fine on maximum detail on my Radeon 2600

Which is what I had in like 2005 when this game came out

  • The 2600 didn't exist until 2007. -_-

  • @dori34543 ownt

  • Great review, convinced me to buy it :D

  • Hope you enjoy it.

  • Tehe I finished this game long before I was 17 :D I'm that now actually o.o

  • can any one help me when I try start multi player it shows all of those ubisoft things but then it just crashes and says "module failed to instalize" =/

    btw singleplayer realy rules

  • Try reinstalling the multiplayer component. I haven't seen that happen... but I do have the retail release, which might be different. I do know you have to run multiplayer through Steam.

  • @DWTerminator I have tried that already and it didnt work, but still thanks

  • Sorry I couldn't help much then. Try looking on some forums and see if someone else has found a solution.

  • the name hes talking about is arx fatalis THUMBS UP SO PEOPLE CAN SEE

btw its a really good game

  • really underrated game. I loved the combat and so glad I bought it. That being said, I never played the multiplayer (funny)

  • Yeah it's pretty sad that the game's so underrated. It's really exceptionally fun.

And with the multiplayer... you're not missing much.

  • When I played this game before I felt like the combat was a bit cluncky. But looking at your footage it looks very fluent..any ideas what my problem was?? (maybe I just sucked at the game :P)

  • Maybe you were terrible at it or it wasn't running well. This is really a game where optimal performance matters.

  • Pity the video didn't back up the review. Instead of telling us what the gameplay elements are like, why not just show us? What's the point of a video?

  • The point of the video in my reviews is to see how the game plays in general.

  • wait what game arch fa tales? errrr.... whats the name i wana check it out

  • I have no problem with Sareths voice, i actually think he, Xana, and Arantir have the best voices. Enemies have shitty woices though

  • The problem with Sareth's voice is that it's just so disinterested. Other than that he's not too bad. Xana's just really annoying. Arantir's not bad though, I'll give you that.

And yes, the enemies/minor characters have horrible voices.

  • I hope eldar scrolls 5 plays more like this game while keeping its own charm

  • I could care less about TES5.

  • @DWTerminator Well in all fairness, that wasn't a question. so yeah...

  • I never assumed it was a question. I just commented on it anyway. ;)

  • @DWTerminator I agree with your review, but really no tesV?

  • Not unless I legally get a copy for free.

  • @DWTerminator Id buy it for double what they arae selling for, even though I have no idea what the game will actually be like.

  • No the voice acting is not stupid! I love it & the music.

  • The music is great, but the voices are simply... crap. Luckily, that doesn't detract from the game very much.

  • "All settings maxed at 1024x768" screen resolution fail.

  • Not all of us have fancy widescreen monitors or game in ridiculously over-the-top resolutions. -_-

  • @DWTerminator the came looks too easy

  • If you're referring to the Game in question, then no, it's not *too* easy.

  • @DWTerminator prove that by not killing someone in 2 hits?

  • You're seeing pretty far into the game, where my character had high critical hit chance and good weapons. Early on up to the middle, the game's fairly challenging, and in the end, it's only easier because you're fighting enemies from the beginning.

  • would this run exelent on amd premium

  • Check the system requirements. They're in the video description box.

I'm not exactly sure what an "AMD premium" is, so you need to be more specific.

  • @DWTerminator amd premium vision is a graphics card

  • After looking it up... first off: this is a terrible idea for marketing, and second: it should be able to run the game. I dunno about maxing it, but you should be at least able to play it on medium detail.

  • @DWTerminator yeah thanks i installed it it look good

  • Glad I could help.

  • I just finished the game, and without any spoilers I... quite disliked the ending. Didn't satisfy me at all. I have no regrets playing this game though, every minute was fun. Btw, just a tip for everyone who is about to play this remember, use the short and long swords until you find a tier 2 dagger, those things are deadly. Shadow steel weapons are ment for brute force and with a muscle and assassin skill set you'll do just fine.

  • Yeah, the ending is kinda bleh. That said, there *are* 4 of them, so you can change things up if you want on subsequent playthroughs.

And yes, daggers do insane damage later on... but they make the game a bit less fun in my opinion. The swords just give it a much more visceral, satisfying feel. Magic's fun to use too when you get the more powerful stuff later on. Really though, playing the game as any class combination you want is the most satisfying experience.

  • Dark Messiah 4 ever

  • @robloxguy23 I agree, one of the best games I've ever played!

  • it's a good game with a wrong name... It should be called the adventures of sir kicks-alot (no really i actualy made it through some level without using any weapons or magics other than kicks, unless you count the boss battles.) Other than that, it is not bad, the thing is that I occasionally placed it on mute cause of the sound effects is another thing entirely. Other than that it would not call it a might and magic. It is simply not that kind of game.

  • It's set in an offshoot of the Might & Magic universe, so that's the only reason it bears that name. As for it not "being" an M&M game... Heroes of M&M is nothing like M&M, yet it's still considered M&M. Something to remember there...

But yes, the game itself is rather good. I know it's a bit easy sometimes and the kick is overused, but if all you do is kick you're not getting the full experience. The visceral melee combat is absolutely phenomenal when you play it like it's intended.

  • Good review!

I loved this game. Very underatted game....

  • Glad you liked it.

  • in all did you like it?????and what do you think is this better than oblivion?

  • You know... the sheer amount of people who compare this to Oblivion astounds me. They're two completely different styles of RPG so they really can't be compared.

As for "did I like it..." I would've thought the score I gave it speaks for itself but I guess not. Yes, I like it. Do I have more fun playing it than Oblivion? Absolutely.

  • i and my bro finished the game and there was no nudity.

  • Yes, there is, actually. It's just fairly hard to notice because it's extremely brief (as in, about 1-2 seconds and it's over).

  • *Moreover, I'm using a...

  • Graphics settings don't affect the game crashing, actually, just overall performance (and yes, occasionally it'll stutter). The crashes are caused by any number of faults in the game's programming, and yes, it does crash occasionally, but luckily not all that often (and that's pre-patches too). Try patching the game and see how that helps.

    Glad you liked the review.

  • Good review. However, I still don't understand how you're able to run the game at the highest graphical settings without the game crashing--returning to the desktop-- during a chapter load or regular in-game load. I'd always have to turn HDR settings off and the "Graphics" setting to medium (the others are at 'high'). Moreover, I'm also using a NVIDIA GeForce 8600 or whatever. Long post...

  • Do you think it would run on a Acer Aspire netbook at all???

  • Read the video description box. System requirements are in there. If you've got anything lower than that, it won't work.

  • highly underrated game by all regards. The only problem with this game is its linearity which is what i believe cost it a higher ratig among reviewers. If you look at the time of release it was around the time oblivion came out as well, so this game was very limited in comparison to that regard. Though the things i loved about this game is what i wised was in oblivion, the combat is far superior to oblivion is all ways as well as the options to go about your playstyle. 4.5/5 for me.

  • Actually it got terrible scores for the sheer amount of bugs, some of which are game-stopping, in addition to its linearity, lack of variety (fighting humanoid enemies is far better than fighting the rest of the creatures), terrible voice acting, and somewhat stereotypical storyline. Being mad at bugs and crashes, I understand, but when you've got gameplay this fun, why does it matter that the story's predictable, the voice acting is bad, and the game's linear?

  • does this have windows live id? for achievements

  • No.

  • oh yea in my opinion valve should stopfocusing on grafix and get to variety i mean everybody looks the same and sounds the same i mean orcs u can see there face and its all the same down to hair and i just beat the game the 2nd time in 2-3 days

  • Valve had nothing to do with this game apart from the engine with which it was built. It was developed by Arkane Studios and published by Ubisoft.

It's pretty hard to have variety in skins in a game like this and not have it take up more of your CPU/RAM/GPU's resources. Hence why most enemies in FPS's pretty much look the same.

  • hey i think tergon had great voice acting....but he was sort of stupid

  • if you have an ATI card with over 1gb of memory will it run on maximun grafics?

  • It should.

  • @DWTerminator good cause your review makes it look good so i'm out to game to get it (i saw it for £4.99!!!!)

  • Have fun.

  • Hehe I'm 13 now, and was 12 when I played this game. I bought it for very little money. Good times.

  • I found a fix might be usefull for others if you can't play this game (crash) set your desktop resolution to 1024/768 and 60 Hertz and then try to start it if that doesn't work also add this to your shortcut: -dxlevel 90 (or for steam version: -applaunch 2100 -dxlevel 90) and now it works I still have the famous white Z bug instead of intro and when getting hit in combat but I can play the game now which makes me Really happy :-D

  • Actually I think it's -dxlevel 81... it's already at DirectX 9 by default. That could work if you're still having crashing problems post-patches, I suppose.

  • @DWTerminator Ja well I still have some bugs I think I'll actualy try that out then :-)

  • Hope it works for you. It worked for me on my old rig with Source games.

  • it looks awesome! O.O

    is it better than Oblivion??

  • Two very different games. Oblivion's an open-world RPG, while Dark Messiah's a story-driven action-RPG. Combat is much better in Dark Messiah, and the visuals are better overall, but the voice acting's pretty crappy and the story tries to be much more epic than it ends up being. That said, I have more fun playing Dark Messiah than Oblivion. That's just personal though.

Try the demo and see if you like it.

  • @DWTerminator thanks! I had much fun playing Oblivion, finished it 3 times :p

so I was searching for a game that is kind of the same, I think I found it (:

    thanks very much!

    I'll try the DEMO

  • No problem.

Again, though: Dark Messiah is a *very* different game from Oblivion. Hence why I advise trying the demo. You can easily find it on FileFront.

  • @DWTerminator yeah I tried the DEMO, and I liked it very much! :D.

And yeah it's very different from Oblivion, like this more! :D

    thanks for your advice
