  • its all in being skinny and light weight.

You won't find any heavy strong people able to do it.

It pays to be a skinny stringbean.

  • I can do more than 30 pull ups and i still cant do muscle ups but i can do one arm pull up

  • Awesome Video!!!

Check my page i just made a Pull UP Video!!!

  • 60 pull ups + 60 dips = 4 muscle ups omg...some math is wrong there xd

  • @metalgod321 Its bullshit too. Some people are able to do one or two dips & pullups and are yet able to do a muscle up. Really depends on the person, average is 7/8 pullups & dips :)

  • I can do them just its my right arm pullin me up instead of both,

  • Yeah you are right. I just tried it on a proper bar for the first time yesterday. I did 10 muscle ups easily.

  • When i do a muscle up I have to do one shoulder then the other. I can't time the swing with the pull up either. Any tips?

  • hey,

what do you mean 15 pull ups + 15 dips = 1 muscle up?

right now i can do 20 pull ups and 25 dips but i haven't be able to do one muscle up. i haven't really try it on a bar like that yet.

so how many pull ups + dips i need to do before i can do 10 muscle ups? that would be my goal for next summer. right now i am 150lbs and can bench 205lbs 3x and 185 7x. 225 have some trouble used to do one when i was 170lbs.

    thanks mate

  • @bobwang890

Its just a rough guide, he probably meant if you're not strong enough to do 15 each you wont be able to do a muscle up, you can do 10 muscles at 15 dips and 15 pullups, its just getting used to the transition between the two which is largely about the technique and neural reinforcement ( doing something often so your msucles get used to the motion) . It stiill takes strength though, but I got it explained to me and i did 3 in a row easy when I coudln't do 1 a few seconds before.

  • primal fitness in the background. haha

  • more swing then strenght :S

  • Not bad! Muscle ups are def. hard to obtain, but I still think that you're using wayyyy too much swing. I've abandoned pull ups completely and just switched them for muscle ups. Post another video when you get them straight, slow, and without any jerking/swinging motions.

    Not bad though :)

  • i can do about 5 muscle ups, i think my record was 7 but 15 pull ups are kinda tiring for me o.O

    is that strange?

  • @Zorghent maybe becouse you help too much with your legs at muscle ups. try them with total dead hang

  • how old are you man, nice work :P

  • i finally got one muscle up recently.. i was so proud of myself. it's fucking HARD!! i'm pretty sure it's harder than 15 pull ups and 15 dips..

  • @borednessislife well i started doing muscle up way before i got to 15 pullups ;)

  • @inCare i guess it depends on the person.. well, actually i can barely do 15 full pull ups.. only on a good day, haha. but i'm pretty light, so it's easier for me.. maybe i need to work on the form or something for muscle ups. idk.

  • @borednessislife yeah, well, form helps a lot. i can do muscle up without any help of my legs (a few times), but when I am tired, I will use a bit of kick, bendind and expanding my knees. And what i really found helpful is to try and hang your legs "over" the bar, hmm so your center of mass is already where it should be.... hope u understand. my english sucks (sometimes). cheers

  • Nice video. I can do 15 pull-ups (with ease) and 15 dips but still no muscle-up for me. Working on it though: getting the technique right (the kipping etcetera) is the hardest.

  • yeah, i can do 32 pull ups and i can only do one muscle up with ok form but its a little bit of a struggle. Pisses me off lol

  • eeesh don't do dips like this guy.. no offense but thats bad form.

  • @teamjinsoku

That's how you do dips with a bar.... unless you're doing Korean dips where the bar is behind you. I think you're talking about doing dips on parallel bars but that's not possible with a single bar now is it? I've done over 60 dips on parallel bars but i can only get 5 or so with decent form on a single bar.

  • @penguingangster start with a natural swing then as you're pulling yourself up bring your knees to your chest, then drive your elbows over the bar, when you're doing this don't think about each step separately, its important to put all of these steps together into one fluid motion

  • good tutorial

  • whats the name of the technique thats used to bring your upper body over the bar (by swinging your body then pull your legs close to your body ),

I DONT mean the muscle up....

  • @Parkour7410 kipping pull up

  • @Parkour7410

    I know this man,

kipping pull up is just swinging and bring your head over the bar,

but its not what I want,

What is the name of technique used by gymnasts to bring their whole upper body over the bar....

  • lol thats a kipping muscle up. only about 5 times easier =P

  • thanks man

  • is doing pushups still helping me somehow?

  • To certain degree, yes, it will. Just make sure you do them as fast and explosive as you can. Actually all explosive upper body strength training is useful in one way or another. Just make damn sure you focus on starngth and not musclemass! Extra weight is the last thing you need when you do this.

  • @Motoruven mass will come with strength though

  • Sorry, my mistake: I meant that by"bodyweighting" you your are conditioning your mscles to do some good instead of just looking good. But you are right, Strength will also improve mass, but it can, and in this case sould, be kept to a minimum.

  • yes!

  • 10x!!!!!!!!!!!

  • yeah ive been doing muscle ups for like a month now they were a pain in the ass to learn you just gotta do mad pull ups and dips

  • this doesn`t explain anything, just beacause i see this one, it doesn`t make me understand anything more than the other muscle ups in vids...........

  • ...Damn!,I can do 20 chin up's(...and deeps as well..)but I just cannot make even a muscle up!! arrrggghh!!...Help me!

    ...T_T..

  • Thats good, but remember that a muscle up starts from a pull up, not a chin up.

  • how do you get from a pull-up to a "pull up higher?!

I seem to hit an invisible wall once my hands get to my shoulders

  • You fold your arms to fast, by the time your arms are fully folded, your chest should be resting on the rail/wall. I had the same problem, but I solved it by thinking: I shall not bend my arms pst 90 degrees. A bit awkard the first week, then you will notice the effects. Good luck

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAah!

    ...

    ...

    ...

    I love you =D!!!!

  • i cant even do pull ups D:

  • i mostly use this to get up on top of walls from after a cat leap or to get ontop of a high rail like a swingset

  • you might not be able to do a muslce up because you may need to also work on your ability to use a burst of strength to pop up over. Theres a certain word for it but try doing chin ups like pulling yourself up really quick and hten lowering slow

  • I wish I had a pull up - thing -_-

  • yea, i wish that I had one too.. =(

  • i can go 20clean pull ups and 30+dips yet i cant even do one M-up -.-. why?????

  • you have too much muscle mass...

you need to get some speed ...try to do pull ups very fast !

sorry for bad english , good luck :D

  • I can't do them clean, but a lot of it is technique as well. I believe the idea is to pull up explosively enough so that you become "weightless" at the dividing line between pull-up and dip. So what I do is practice clapping pull ups that 'force' you to get your body weight above the bar.

  • couldn't you also do weighted pull ups?

  • I'm sure weighted pull ups work, but I don't know how well they train the fast twitch muscle fibers so you can top out.

  • Actually what you really want is loads of explosive power. The main force that gets you over the bar is speed. Thats why swinging and kicking help.

  • Agreed, however gymnasts can muscle up slowly simply with their slow twitch endurance fibers.

  • Haha thats insane strength. Im a gymnast btw, i can muscle up relatively slowly but not as pro as Andreas Aguilar on the rings.

  • I wish I could. I am certainly no gymnast, though I have an insane respect for them. I can hardly do a quick muscle up, it takes so much energy from me lol.

  • yeah, imtrying to get those down. however, do fast muscle ups really train?

  • Absolutely, especially in parkour when we train for quickness and flow. To make them harder train them without a kip.

  • Well for what it's worth, I've never been able to do one until last week. I could always do about 33 chin ups, but this was beyond me. When I got to college though I started doing weighted pull ups, first with a 25 and now a 35, and I just randomly felt like trying to do it one day and I could! I can do about 5 now with never having done one before.

The weight really helped me to get stronger at the top where you have to switch from pulling up to pushing down. It's at least worth a try.

  • @stevenash2300 It sounds to me like you had awesome muscular endurance, but not much fast twitch power. When you started training with weights you probably became much more powerful. Thats just how the body works. Some people can run marathons slowly, some poeple can run sprints fast. Its part nature part nurture for what kind of muscle fibres you have.

  • thank u dude! im working on this!

  • thank you to the guy who made this vid thank you helped alot

  • is muscle up the same as climb up?

  • No, because muscle ups are an exercise, but climb ups are the actual use of it to get up a wall or something.

  • thanks you have cleared me it:)

  • Glad to help ^.^

  • yes, a very important capability for parkour

  • Thanks!!!

  • if i'm doin this, push ups and kip ups is it wise to lift weights?

  • Why not? Anything that helps.

  • dude, you make this look so easy, for me it always takes some momentum for starters before I can get up there... Well I quess I'll keep training ;D

  • well i cnt do one as yet nearli but my pull up count is like 17 and i can do like 25 dips ??? lololol

  • You don't do the move correctly.....I think that is why u cant do it yet ;) Keep practicing till u do at least 5 :D

  • i had the same problem, you need to accustom your body for pull up much farther than your chin. thats the transition stage that puts everything together.

  • lol 15 pullups + 15 dips = 1 muscle up???

i did my first muscle up when my pullup count was 10.

  • You obviously weren't pushing your pullups to total failure then.

  • Not necessarily, rather...the equation itself is the failure.

  • kasi no es parkour i aparte no esta tan xido el video

    jajajaja

  • te sirve para hacer parkour.. -_-"

  • If you guys want a hint to the muscle up, a lot of it comes from the bounce. If you can carry your momentum, then use that momentum to carry you, then it will be relatively easy. Try putting your arms in a locked position as you reach a full muscle up. And forget about pullup training, put yourself in a muscle up position and do muscle-up-push-up things to really get those muscles going. One last hint: do NOT lift much weights or you will only make this move harder. Good luck guys!

  • dam thats a nice muscle up.

  • a lot of the move is counter balance use your mid section to pull legs in and with the flow push up i struggle with muscle ups tho and i can do like 60 pull ups lol

  • hmm..

    15 pull ups + 15 dips = im tired

    hahahaha...

  • @fullbackk and ur muscles will be screaming of pain xD

  • So does this mean that if you can do 15 pull ups + 15 dips, you should be able to do a muscle up? Am I right? :)

  • yeah, but this is more to a joke... you can do 1 muscleup but onl 8 pull ups... Explosive power doesn't have to be endurance...

  • The transition phase is something that isn't worked by anything else. But, if you can do 15 pull-ups and dips you basically have the whole thing.

  • It's really strange, but I have always been good at parkour, even before I had heard of it. I've always been able to vault, I just thought it was a convenient way of getting into the back of a truck. Muscle ups come naturally to me. ANYTHING I can get my fingers around, I can climb with no problem. I'm 14 by the way, and have really only been doing parkour for a couple of weeks. I organized a team with a few of my friends.

  • put a video on youtube doing some muscle ups ...sorry, but i really don't beleave you

  • It's cool if you don't believe me, and I can't put any vids on because I have no camera, have windows me computer and dial up connection. I really have nothing better to do than parkour, so...

  • Only thing that you are really good in is drivel (and lying). I agree with Smiidi22

  • Why would you even accuse me of lying about something like this. Oh my god, Kawaiimaru can do a muscle up. Amazing! Shit dude, just because I said can do the most basic parkour thing there is doesn't mean I can raise the dead. Think about your comments before you post them. And next time, save your accusations of lying for people who say that they can do something truly unbelievable, and if you did pk yourself you'd understand where I'm coming from. Get a life before you do shit like this.

  • why in ..... im sorry i just dont understand why u are telling us this..

  • I dunno, I just thought I'd explain myself. Sorry if I came off as a showoff, as that's the last thing I want to do.

  • Every man can make a mistake and kawaiimaru ,the style you written your opinion look like unreal pride

  • Haha. Don`t pay attention to haters. Next time however, instead of telling people what you can do, just post a video. If you can`t post a video, wait about telling what you can do, until you can. Action speaks louder than words, and action takes a big stinking crap on haters. Lol.

  • Right, thanks. =)

  • tnx a lot....

  • cooooooooooooooooool!

  • wow, you're good at those! I've only just managed to do them without swinging, yet you make them look so easy... i only really do them in pole vault training every so often though... i think these are pretty much impossible to do without a high bar to train with....

  • i think 15 pull ups + 15 dips is abit overateted

i can 5 muscle ups and can only do 30 pull ups.

  • This must be hard to do...Oo...

will i be stronger with this???

when i not much bused,i'll try it...

15 dips + 15 pull ups...gosh!!!THIS IS SO HARD Òó

  • i don't think you need that much, i can do dirty muscle ups with barely 9 pullups and i haven't eve ntried the dips

  • how long time does it take to learn this?

  • depends on your how often you train, exercise, etc. It varies with each person.

  • HOLS SHIT i just fell on my knee shell

  • hhahaha

  • 15 pull ups and 15 dips does not equal a muscle up. It is explosive strength not endurance which gets you up.

  • a real muscle up should not be done with power (explosive strength)... it should be done with precise muscle contraction. If one were to try to kip on a muscleup on a wall... well you simply cannot.

  • most of a climbup on a wall is technique i.e timing the kick with your feet and pull with your hands.Have you even tried one?? its pretty much all explosive strength...

  • I meant without a kick. For example when a wall is higher than 6 feet. Hang from a wall and try to pull yourself up, you will see what I mean. I am in no way trying to depreciate this video. I think this guy is great!

  • when you hang in cat/armjump position whatever, you kick with your feet aswell as pulling with your arms to get the transition to the dipping motion faster :)

  • and it helps a hell of alot its easier on a wall if you use your feet.. harder on a bar even with a kip imo.

  • Yep, I agree

  • I could do a muscle-up on a wall long before I could do one on a bar.

  • muscle up on wall = 5 times easier than on bar, so that would make sense

  • nice "up"

  • that looks fun!! i wish i had a high bar to practice on, my neighbor/ friends do, so i

can go over there sometime and try:D

  • pretty OK.....was great enough to have a replay in slow-motion though

  • dont forget to put your hands over the bar more; so that your palm is ontop of the bar, it helps

  • wow, you're good at those! I've only just managed to do them without swinging, yet you make them look so easy... i only really do them in pole vault training every so often though... i think these are pretty much impossible to do without a high bar to train with....

  • do more pull up

  • thank you for the tip. I'm still working on getting them perfect!

  • you shouldn't push your elbows so far off your sides. you're killing them.

  • what do you mean? it looks like his elbows are really close to his sides :| i'm not even sure if he can bring them any closer and still do it? i mean, can he??

  • very good vid. Thanks a lot !
