Nice vid! I grew up on the Mega Drive, N64 and Dreamcast so kinda missed out on the Saturn. I love those 3 and I'm gonna look into getting a Saturn now.
ive played galaxy fighter on the psn japanese import and the game was good its hard as hell but its still fun as hell some cool characters but the graphics looked kinda like chalk drawn but the gameplay is fun and works well would i rebuy it again well...its only a one time play because the AI cheaphits you like no 2morrow good luck of hitting the AI fighter but you can land it a hit...if your lucky
Many people feel importing is the only to experience the Saturn and that American games are horrible. While I feel importing is great part of the Saturn experience, your videos show otherwise. Nice selection of stuff you got there.
@kyuss015 Hell man the import scene for the Saturn is most definitely amazing but the U.S. selection is genuinely nice. Overlooked by many sadly because of the offerings on PS1 and N64, but still worth checking out. Many exclusive classics too which makes it worth noting alone
You have an awesome collection there. I don't have that many Saturn games. The games I have are Night Warriors, Virtua Fighter 1&2, Daytona USA and a couple of demo discs.
Hope you're happy dude! Now I have to go out and find a SS and start playing all these great games. LOL. Seriously though, the Sega Saturn was my first console. I still lament it's passing.
Virtual Hydlide was only published by Atlus for the U.S. release. It was developed by...T&E Software...or something. So no worries, Atlus didn't create a shitty RPG. At least not that one.
did you know that in the PC version of resident evil, you can unlock two weapons for jill and chris. chris gets the M249 machine gun and jill gets the MAC 10 sub machine gun. sadly it is only on the PC version.
@megaben99 oddly i did not ever know that. kinda neat though, ive seen tons and tons of mods for re on pc so if i saw them i probably just figured it was fan made lol
Did you know that Shining Force 3's story was suppose to be spread across three different scenarios, effectively making you have to buy three different games to get the whole story? The only reason why the US and UK version of Shining Force 3 gave you any sense of closure was cause they changed the ending and hoped we wouldn't find out. People are still working hard as hell to make a translation patch for all three games so we can at least have it all in english on emulators.
I just got my sega saturn a few months ago with a light gun, arcade stick, and sega rally. I opened the case and saw that it was the netlink edition in it. Can you still play online with the saturn?
Awesome video man!! i like that you're not just naming off games but actually giving an impression on each one. I'm definitely checking out parts 2 & 3!
I Love The American Packaging For Sega Saturn Games.. Shites All Over The Crappy Cardboard European versions and the All 2 Boring CD Jewel Casing In Japan..
i like ur videos dude but can i make a suggestion. ur intro with the metal playing is extremely loud and when its just u talking its very quiet. so after i turn the volume all the way up to hear u and click on another of ur video i get blasted by the music. maybe turn it down a bit? jus a thot. nice vids tho
Resident Evil cover is MUCH better for SS. That zombie is a still shot of that first scene when Jill separates from Barry and hit that Zombie chowing down then it looks over his shoulder. Also, gotta love the real FMV actors and actresses. I have Biohazard and the opening scene is BRUTAL. Our version was edited.
Shining the holy ark was like the coolest game when I was little haha. Except the short name input only let me put Brando, instead of brandon. Pissed me off.
I've bought my first Sega Saturn MK1 today!!! Yuppie!!! With VF2 and two controllers! paid 70$ for it ;-( (this console wasn't and isn't very popular in Poland - that is why the price is high). Anyway, great collection of brilliant games, Alpha!!! Congrats!!!
You know whats a shame??I preordered Panzer Saga when it was announced back in 98,got the game and beat it a few times over the years, then sold it back in 2002 for like 120.00..Watching this video makes me kick myself in the ass!
Great first part dude, those cases look so much sweeter than the Saturn cases we got here in the UK. Resident Evil on the Saturn is an amazing game and one of the best on the system, its also the best Playstation to Saturn conversions on the system.
I wish sega put out sonic xtreme out for the saturn, it would have been awesome to play a 3d sonic game on the saturn. Too bad not enough gamers gave a shit about the saturn back in the day.
Dude. If you have a Sega Genesis, then you should do a collection video on it! I never really was a Sega Saturn fan (but then again I never played it). All in all good video, very well done.
Cyber Speedway was actually released a few months before Wipeout. It's not a clone. It does have a very similar feel, but it came out first.
(Also, it's a spiritual sequel to a PC racing game from a few years earlier with a very similar style, CyberRace.)
Also, I love Bug. It's from mid 1995, and is one of the first ever 3d platformers. Jumping Flash predates it, but not much else. It's sort of 2d, sort of 3d, but very interesting and original (still unique!). It's way too hard, but good.
Wow, you've shown some games that I definitely should try out and maybe get. I sure need to save more cash. Besides that, I'm surprised that there's a much horrible Sonic game than Sonic 06; interesting!
I remember squealing like a bitch when i first saw the new Resident evil monster,it was just so awesome to have played the PS1 version and see something new!
I can only say , you are the best reviewer ever !! Only guys who loves metal have potential to show everyone which games are cool and which games sucks dog shit. HAIL METAL !!! AND GAMES !!! AND SPLATTERHOUSE!!!...
I know Sega was trying to push a new mascot for their new system, (unlike a certain bunch of arrogant bureaucrats who fail to part ways with Italian plumbers) and Nights was a phenomenally unique experience, but the Saturn was in dire need of a fucking fresh 3D Sonic game from the get go.
Believe or not btw, Saturn version of Resident Evil 1 is the only version I've ever had, so it was kinda hard to spot this ''exclusive zombie''. Was it in the DS reiteration?
the exclusive monster shows up in one part of the game, so its pretty easy to miss since it shows up once and thats pretty much that. bummed me out cause i thought it wouldve been cool to see it show up in place of some zombies later on when you come back and theres hunters everywhere.
As for it showing up in deadly silence. that i dont believe so cause i played through it twice now and never saw it
yeah the sales pretty much were crap everywhere cept japan, which is also the reason why they had a slew of kick ass games and the import market boomed so much for that system, still does ironically since the saturn had many exclusives and on top of that some of the most perfect arcade conversions back in the day.
@JASONMOORE87 It's worth it to check out the saturn import scene. Some of it is kinda up there in price but any shmup or fighter fan owes it to themselves to get an action replay cart and check out some of the goodness that never left Japan. I can honestly attribute alot of the Saturn's failure to that.
you should get a hold of it when you can, the little 3d hub world is a bunch of fun, i had a blast with it. plus they have little missions you can do in it too so its not just for the hell of it and running around. depressing cause it would have been even more awesome to see sega make an entire sonic game for the saturn back then. honestly i think that would have helped it sell alot more outside of japan. kinda like how it did for the genesis/mega drive
Ugly Japanese logo D: The design of the Sega Saturn, both logo and console blew away the relatively underwhelming PS1 and N64, too bad they screwed up with its Japanese counterpart. Ironically enough though, the thing actually took off over there!
There were some DAMN fine games released on the Saturn. It's unfortunate that some of the best were produced in such limited quantities. Your average gamer just can't afford the insane prices they command.
it does suck that they cost so much now due to their rarity and then on top of that many people didn't take care of them so that dwindles the numbers down even further. i really just wish they could find a way to start releasing them on xbla and psn but apparently sega doesnt have any of the coding to emulate them. dunno how you just lose that kinda stuff, sucks pretty bad
@AlphaOmegaSin It didn't help that the cases couldn't take much abuse. Once your case was broken, the game disc was usually next on the casualty list.
Sega really did drop the ball as far as re-releasing these games. But come on guys, you're a software company now. Remake them!
