There have to be more sustainable forms of energy that are cost effective before oil can be replaced, while research may be ongoing, that hasn't yet been developed. (Unless you want more Nuclear, which I'm all for).

My brother and I made a small generator from neodymium magnets, copper wire and a mount and it powers a tool shed. The Swedish have some cars that run on sea water. You can get neodymium magnets out of old computer hard drives!
