The US Military buys everything from companies that makes their equipment. So those companies can sell to other nations... Only if its not classied as secret or not a risk to current military. Sometime the Japanese military will buy the frame of the equipment but not the equipment inside it.

my grandfather used to work for Northrup..he said when the US Government did want somthing built..they would give Northrup a list of specifications saying..the plane must have these features blah blah blah...and within the contract it might say you can not sell this to other nations or when you sell it you must take out these features...so basically if the US goes to war with any nation we know there weaknesses.

The Japanese military is a advanced and professional force regardless of which service.

I agree that the ads are cheesy though, they need to convey deeper meaning of pride, responsibility, honor, and personal growth more along the lines of the new U.S. recruiting ads.

Yes the ad is real, but it's part of a larger campaign that actually worked in drawing recruits. The Japanese navy is a civilian force they are not "in the nay" as we understand it. Japan is gearing up to kick N Korea;s but, that no problem for them now, but they need to look bad-ass enough for China to look the other way.
