  • It is sad though that the abort/escape tower technology did not carry over into the shuttles. Challenger is the exact example. So many steps forward and so many steps back.

  • good vid. thx.

  • This is absolutely great! For anyone who wishes to learn some more on our travels to the moon, check out Bob Berman's book "Shooting For The Moon"...I'm currently reading it, and its very informative

  • Very interesting to see the change in technology both spaceflight and animations(models) used back then. Thanks

  • I can watch these types of historical space films like they're candy!

Do you have any of those little NASA TV spots from the mid-to-late 70's that they used to show on TV?

Animated stuff about Apollo, Skylab, and the STS?

  • @jpowell180 look up the DVD 'NASA: The Big Missions'. it's a copout given the price (about $36) for what are really public domain videos, but if that's what you want then go for it. it has the 60's 'national aeronautics and space report' videos explaining the advances in the space program of the previous year, new technologies, etc. debriefings and british media coverage is also included, as well as challenger, columbia, and return to launch videos from nasa tv.
