  • Use Plastic Media Blasting to remove Paint from the Fiberglass .. removes the paint layer by layer without removing any Fiberglass.

  • Not True! Original "foil" do not have serial numbers! I bought my set new and have had them over 30 years. Still have original North logo foil badges, no number on them. They were bought about 1979 new by me. I now have the set for sale on ebay. It's a black double bass set all original except heads.

  • I have a Nexus kit and those are definitely the fiberglass, the injected were more like Vistalite shells. If you need new tom mount hardware, the old Camco mounts are the ones that Roger used.

  • Some people are using mirror finished stickers with the black North logo printed on them.Minus the us. pat # and foreign pat pend and any serial # that would have been stamped into the original "foil" or aluminum badge

  • Hey! Jim or anybody out there can help me!! Does anybody make the foil stick-on badges for north drums. I would like to replace the missing ones on my toms and bass drum. Any links or places that might make or carry them. Thanks!!

  • North drums were the best idea yet. I cannot understand why someone has not resurrected this line of gear for the drummers out there.

  • thank you for this vid...you can see more North drums videos at my channel.

  • also, ive been told that roger may have used some hardware from fibes drums due to cost to manufacture his own....i will try to see if i can find out aything about the serial numbers located on edges.

  • they also made a 16 " floor tom and the MTI corp took it over in 1976 from roger north....i believe the MTI versions were RTM ( resin transfer molding )...you will not see any fibreglas weave in them.

  • see next....then take hardware to auto restoration shop, they can polish / fix the metal to be smooth again, then go and rechrome...as far as the rubber rings go, i wouldnt leave them off the shells too long...they can shrink and you will play hell getting them back on again....good luck on the resto....

  • thanks for the video jim....but where did you find these in a junkyard or ?/?...man, they are nasty !!...been long neglected..it does look like the orig fibreglas set thou, you can tell the MTI version because they are resin molded so they wont show the corvette ( sic) fibreglas on the edges...also you noted they have uneven bearing edges, another indicator of an early glas set...as far as the chrome goes on the hardware, i would sandblast the pcs.

  • I'm really trying to find a set...they need to reissue North drums so I can afford them!!

  • Man North made some ugly drums! haha still cool though.
