  • Great editing!

"I love it, but it's a PITA to use..." CUT

  • i absolutely enjoyed and related to this video...i replaced my QR receiver base levers with M6 1.00 hex screws and use a hexkey to adjust them on my shoulder rig and steadycam...totally subscribed...from Nashville, TN

  • haha :D

i have the giotto quick release adaptor too.

acutaly you CAN fix the camera. Just pull the lever, go back a few degrees, release it, and tighten it again...

i hope that this will help ;)

  • If i am using a 7D with this rig is there enough space on top for a rode video mic or would I have to mount the mic elsewhere on the rig?

  • very informative and great and helpful video, thanks!!!

  • I own it, and love it. I have a swing away mattebox so I don't have any of the problems you have.

  • I have the same kit bro, and mine does not have those problems!

  • I own the UltraCompact rig and I love it. My Mattebox is a swing away so I don't have that problem!

  • Are you insane? Are you telling me its a CON to have too many options for configuring ?! Different options are what people want. Two more things, its a heavy rig? I have the same one and its LIGHT compared to what Ive used many years ago. My rig 2 years ago was 27 pounds with a letus extreme 35mm adapter. Third and finally, you know that the mattebox has a swing away plate so you dont have to take the entire mattebox off right? and 9 MINUTES??? I can set up my entire rig in under that time!

  • "Pretty soon that orgasm will be over!" LOL!! Good review.

  • Hey man. Great review. I have a 7d and I am thinking about getting this rig. Just out of curiosity how exactly would I mount something like a Zoom H4n or an external monitor or something of that nature onto the C-Bar?

  • Thanks for sharing this! Is the lens changing hassle mostly because of the matte box? Wouldn't a good lens hood be just as effective?

By the way, are you from the Twin Cities? Noticed the Cherry Spoon Bridge picture on your monitor and Edina on your shirt.

  • @creativeguy91 Yep. The matte box is a pain to deal with, but I like it. I also posted this over on Vimeo, and I learned that the screw pulls out on the quick release plate, so that is no longer an issue.

Yep, I'm in the twin cities. Are you from the area?

  • @creativeguy91 - I'm on the lookout for a good lens hood. If you know of one, please let me know...

  • @grayter1

I just use the standard hoods provided by Canon. By the way, I'm enjoying watching your music videos. I especially like "Almost Maybe." Nice song, too. And yes, I'm from the Twin Cities.

I'd love to learn more about your audio setup. Do you work around the auto gain control or just live with it? Would you be willing to do a review on your Sennheiser? Actually, breaking down your whole rig would be interesting. I've got a T2i as well and am trying to figure out how to optimize it.

  • @creativeguy91 - Not a problem. The original plan was to break down the rig piece by piece, but I thought no one would be interested in that. lol... I taped an entire section on audio. You can knock down the output of the Sennheiser, so the AGC doesn't mess with it that much. Like everyone else, I'm waiting to see what the Magic Lantern hack brings. I don't want to buy a digital audio recorder just for audio. If I doing a larger shoot, I use my Canon HF10 to record audio...

  • @grayter1 - The ULTRAcompact looks like an really good value. Is seems to have pretty similar functionality to the JAG35 shoulder mount for less than half the price. I'm assuming it uses standard 15mm rods so that you could attach anyone's follow focus (or other accessories) to it. Is that your understanding?

  • @creativeguy91 - Yep, it's standard rods. Contrary to some of my comments in my review, I really like the unit. I've changed how I'm using it though. I've streamlined it greatly after my last commercial shoot to the rails and a handgrip only. I'm shooting mostly on a tripod, so I don't have a need for the shoulder mount or C-Bar, but it's good to have if I need them. I would recommend it.
