That does not look like a 100 MPH windup at all. He doesn't seem to use his whole body like some pitchers do, it's like just his arm is made out of metal or something.
You don't seem to be creating movement very effectively. Unfortunately, how to move effectively is not one of the ideas taught by people who teach mechanics (And that's probably because people who teach mechanics really don't understand movement in the first place).
This type of thing is great for pitchers trying to improve their skills as well as the rest of us who just like to watch a master perform his magic. Verlander is indeed a super athlete and a great guy. Thanks!
The most underrated mechanics in the game right now. Viewed as simply a power pitcher, his timing, posture, leg drive and upper body work as well as anyone, therefore MAKING him a power pitcher.
What your body looks like as you pitch isn't a very good measurement of how fast you are going to pitch. What matters is your overall strength and conditioning and how effectively you are producing the movement. Major league players produce movement in a very effective manner, and consequently they look pretty similar when hitting/pitching. Mind is movement, body is the manifestation of that movement. In other words, the body is a side effect of movement.
When I met the guy, he towered over me, and I'm 6 foot so anytime you have a tall person, longer arms etc. means throws harder

True, look at Neftali Feliz, he looks like he's tossing 100 mph fastballs

its sick how he throws 100mph and his external rotation isnt atleast 90 degrees
metsfinest15 8 months ago
@metsfinest15 Careful analysis officially concluded that he is at least 1/4 Clydesdale horse, so that might explain it.

Oh my god, he doesn't even get inside 90 degrees with his elbow angle. And he throws 100.
noahmcdx 10 months ago
That right there is the defintion of a horse—and why he can pitch 100+ MPH after 110 pitches.

Would anyone know what kind of ball that is ? (curve, knuckle, fast, changeup) ???????

@Ns205 fastball
DL1351 1 year ago
@Ns205 I think it's just a fastball. There's no weird arm angle, grip, or wrist movement.

This is how 100 mph is pitched ...
Angelah2528 2 years ago 23
@Angelah2528 it's how 100 mph is pitched if you're 6'5'', 225 lb and insanely strong in the lower half..
