  • awesome finish...i was wondering what to do whit my downstair..i think i just find it!!! tahnk you very much for this!!! good job!!

  • We are looking for ideas on how to re-carpet our stairs leading to the basement. We've never done it before & this is the first video I've seen on how to & it looks Great!...Thank You! We are definitely doing this!

  • I will be doing this with my stairs also, but instead of MDF on the risers I will be putting bead board. My house is 110 years old and the bead board fits the decor better. Thanks for the great video.

  • dont need to hire a knee kicker for stairs put it tight with your hands , have been doing it this way for 18 years

  • Visit jeanscarpet.webs.com for save money in installation

  • Thanks for the video and helpful comments!

  • Yah nice. I like it when people dont go generic. I like the effect. Actually I did a staircase like that once. It was an open on 1 side spindled set o stairs and circular. I checkered the carpet seamed every step . 1 side blue the other red. So that looking down gave it a checkered effect. And my cousin the owner put mirror risers. It was definately different and the living room was seamed a 4 square red and blue checker as well.

  • Okay so I just did my brothers staircase just like you showed in the video ( minus the board I. The back because there was already wood there I just painted it.) but they look amazing (especially In the color I picked). They are spiral so they took a little longer but it was worth it. I recommend it for anybody. :-)

  • Oops.....installations .....red faced

  • Nice job, I've been doing instalations over twenty years, and for a diy'er not bad at all. You can save time by using staples instead of tack strip under the nosing. Just sayin' : )

  • Or you could do it the regular way and finish these in like 10 minutes

  • For the do it yourself kind of guy I can see using it myself. You made some good valad points. Something like this that you can do on your own and fix makes sence to me. Beats paying a guy to redo your whole stair case and waste money when you can do it yourself for just a few bucks. Hat's off to you. Your stair case lookes beautiful. Great vid.

  • Looks good dude

  • Laminate flooring on stairs : youtube.com/user/thefloorfitter

  • Nice job. A simple way of doing steps.

  • I have to say, this gave me confidence to do same thing.... obviously works, obviously you have thought about it and even i think you have probably over compensated for safety...

    Good job and thanks

  • If i installed like that i would make no money!!!! 4 hr steps??? lol

  • Good vid - you are like me - attention to detail etc - I have just had my house carpeted including two staircases and they did it in 6 hrs - I think the labour charge for fitting the stairs was around $30 for each stair (the pro's would do your stair in around 10 mins!) - putting that aside, its rewarding when you have done it yourself - I came accross your vid because I have vinyl to a bathroom and a carpet to fit in a bedroom - the carpet man let me down! - thanks for the tips...good vid.

  • Nice work. I appreciate your DIY attitude. Cheers!!

  • Its a nice look how you done the stairs, but if you ever have to do it again save yourself a lot of unnecessary work by not using a stretcher, its absolutely pointless on a stairs, and either use spray adhesive OR place you grippers closer together (5mm)and pack the carpet down, pull the loose carpet over the nose and fix! Sayin all that, nice job, well done :)

  • I'm glad i came across your video I am carpeting my house this weekend and I will definitely do this on my stairs. When I first started watching the video I was like "I'm not doing that to my stairs" Then by the time the video was over I was like "That is awesome I cant wait to do that to my stairs" Thanks a lot

  • I definitely like the look. Though I never use strip underneath either. It works for ur application. Only thing I wonder is it looks like some mighty expensive pad to be using on steps. Sub floor heat? But hey if u had extra use it up! Stuff is pricey! I'm guessing about fifteen stairs? U saved ur self around 50 bucks!

  • @madbartender100 Actually, I calculated the remnant from the two rooms the professionals did, and knew it would be enough for the stairs. By stopping their quote at the rooms, I spared myself by not having to pay for the carpet (and pad) they would have measured out for the stairs, and their installation price (which was like 20 bucks a stair = insane). So I let them finish their job and finished what I felt comfortable doing on my own...which was pretty easy. And that expensive pad was remnant.

  • @madbartender100 AND, you're totally right on not using the tack strip under the bullnose. I ended up cutting the ball off a ball-peen (dear flamers, I know it's also spelled pein) hammer in order to get enough swing to drive in the nails. It sucked. I'll staple it next time.

  • don't put any more vids about carpet you don't need to be misinforming people

  • @madbartender100 Also, you come down hardest on steps and would want the best underlay there.

  • Looks like you did a nice job. However you made a couple of mistakes....

First. You never ever cut the underpad flush with the nosing. Padding must go over the nosing and be stapled to the front of the tread. Not doing this causes premature wear on the nosing and the edge of the pad shows after a few months..Second, just staple the carpet under the nosing and stretch to the top. Tack strip under the nosing is unnecessary. Also, never staple carpet to the tackless afterwards...

  • @kllklklklklklklklklk The edges still look great. We're fortunate to have a no-shoes policy in our house, and the stairs are rarely used. But your point is well taken. That pad was really thick, and bending it around the nose was going to suck. And I was afraid that it would increase the surface area which would use up more carpet than I had in my remnant roll to make it through the stairs without having to order more.

  • @diy4once ....no worries....I'm glad it worked out. Your finished product was much nicer than some of the crap I've seen. There are so many dummies out there..Even on Holmes on Holmes tv show which is based in Toronto, I see floorlayers doing either stupid stuff, or cutting corners.....nice.

By the way, if you do ever notice the edge of the pad showing on the edge of the tread, just pull the carpet off the smoothedge, and those staples you put in, replace the pad and restretch the carpet.....

  • @kllklklklklklklklklk You sound like a not installer (salesman or rep or something) or serious old school.Staple the tach all you want and also I fly when I instal and flushing pad on the nosing is way faster and I never get a problem in 20 years. Granted curving the pad around the nosing would help wear in the far long run , but I dont get paid enough.

  • @sonicvictory .....After reading your comment, it's not me that does not sound like an installer. Basically you are admitting that the way I said is better, but you don't bother because you don't give a shit. Wow, can I get your number so I can pass it along.

Thanks but I won't be taking advice from you on this.

  • Sweet job guy! I really appreciate your comprehensive approach...Off to Home Depot!

  • Hey, Thanks a lot for taking the time to make a video to help other people. There are very few to no videos on how to do carpet on stairs. This cost me $100 in materials and a day of my time and looks amazing, to hire a "pro" would have cost me around $500 in labor alone. And for anyone slamming this method, this is carpet, not open heart surgery, it is not an exact science, everyone has a different way of doing things. Thanks again diy4once!

  • WTB MOAR VIDS LIKE THIS. And fuck all the drunkard dipshit failtard contractors who flame your method. I did my carpet treads similarly but instead of using white MDF I used planks of engineered wood floors I had leftover and it looks fantastic. Almost a year and nothing has come up off the tack strips for me.

  • It has been two years since these went in, and I have experienced no negative issues with the carpet coming up, or the risers popping out. The only annoyance would be the black marks I got on the white risers when I aggressively vacuumed the treads with a shop vac. Now I'm just more careful when I vacuum the stairs. I still can't speak to damage from shoes scuffs, as we do not wear them in the house.

Thanks for the positive comments, so happy to help.

  • @diy4once since you didn't attach the risers at all you could just pull them off and give them a good scrub or even slap a coat of paint on it to make it look clean again. Great video, thanks!

  • @ackatk im sorry i dont have time to take out of my busy day to teach whiny babies how to do a job right. also being someone that installs carpet doing it the way he describes just means i get paid to tear up his crap job, then do it right making more money. Have a great day!

  • Dude WTF, this is your only video, its been over 2 yrs!!!, we the DIY people need more informative vids like this one, how about a new project to show us, I myself have no experience with home projects hence I love vids like these.

  • @chuck18420 Thanks for the encouragement. Recently I insulated my house with 3.5" rigid styrofoam. I started to document it during the lath and plaster removal state, but stopped the video in order to get the rooms back in order. I guess I could properly document the process with a spoken word over all the still photos that I took. It was a cheap departure to hiring contractors to do spray foam (and I can remove mine if I want). I'll get around to it someday.

  • Wow, that looks great! My risers seem to serve no other purpose than to attract cat fur. I am definitely going to do this.

  • Man, that looks like a great way to do the stairs! Also: to all you so called "professionals" that have been hacking on the way he did the stairs, go fuck yourself! maybe neither he nor myself want you fucking degenerates in our homes, let alone charging rediculous prices for your shady second hand labor....you ass holes would be good labor union members. maybe you should quit with carpet and go smoke weed at chrysler.

  • not an idiot...u just did it wrong...why did u do the treads and raisers seperate? how many hours did you have into your project?

  • lol...i can do that staircase in 2 hours, installing tread and raisers seperate is retarded...dude, your an idiot, but a pro would charge you 100 bux to do it...so, u saved some cash

  • @kalomark... next time type "you're an idiot". Typos undermine the effectiveness of your intellectual superiority.

  • @kalomark lol 2 hours to do those stairs you must be getting paid by the hour because thats 45 min for a pro

  • why wouldnt u just staple the nose

  • @s10crown staple under the lip of the raiser, supposed to put them on in one piece, if the stringers are straight, one piece of rug fir the whole staircase..... start on the bottom of the first raiser, work your way up the stairs....not bad for a DIY project, it took him all day to do it, a pro...2 hours

  • hey man im 20 years old and been doing this for 4 years every day og thr year and let me tell you you did a very good job that is a very smart way to doing it and much easier for people good job man keep it up

  • Great job! I'll be using this same method to finish my stairs leading to my basement (Man Cave)...

  • @diy4once: Looks good. Great job on the work and the video. Lots of positive comments. Some of the negative ones are a little "out there." @everyone: Seen a few comments on "pros." :-) True pros fix their mistakes, learn something new everyday, and never make negative comments to the homeowner about some- one's work. Tack strips love to bite fingers, palms, knees, elbows, and feet.

Pneumatic nailers make no distinction between flesh and wood. Be careful and respectful.

    Pro input.

  • This is a really bad way to fit carpets on stairs... Dont follow this video.

  • I will be using this method! Thanks for posting.

  • Dear diy4once, that was pretty good and very helpful!!! THANKS!!!

  • Nice work boots (just kidding). I'm actually inspired to now do this myself on my stairs. It's been nearly 2 years since you posted the video, how is the carpet holding? Any lessons learned that you could share? Do you get any "creeks" from going from one stair to the next?

I thought the video was very helpful - thank you for sharing!

  • I did exactly teh same thing. I wanted to use risers that matched my engineered wood floors. I found out the engineered floors I used could be used as the risers (instead of your painted mdf riser). Problem is, i didn't use tack strips to secure the carpet and its already coming loose. I'll have to put some tack strips in and buy a cheapie knee-kicker at harbor freight and use your method for securing the carpet. Thanks for the video, huge help for me!

  • What an excellent job best video for installing carpet. I will be doing my stairs the same way.

  • dude I dont care what anybody says, you did a fine job and I just may do my stairs this same way!

  • Thank you!, be careful when posting this videos, alot of trolls here in youtube that like to satisfy their internet egos at the reader's expense. Repel them with a few words of wisdom or logic and they should keep away, or better yet!!: Don't feed the trolls they will keep coming back for more!!!!!

Thanks again for showing us how to install carpets on the stairs.

  • not bad for your first time! if you like, the tackless strip on the riser does not have to be installed. you can use a crown stapler to secure the carpet under the nose of the stair. you can also use a piece of tackless on each side of the tread to hold the carpet more secure, this will keep the carpet stretch for years to come. also helps during carpet cleaning. great video. strictlycarpets@yahoo.com

  • Hey that was a great idea I've been thinking for months what to do with my stair I just didn't now what to do but you came thru. Thanks

  • Nice Job, btw, you're the only one that did a video for carpet on runners only... and it's exactly what I want to do but with ceramic on risers.

    Thumbs up !

  • nice job and a great vid, ingnore all the so call pro's that tell you what you should or should not do, they can not be that good or they would be busy fiting carpets not sat on there arse's watching a diy video.

  • how much wider is your carpet to the tread you put it on 1 inch on each side 1/2 inch? very nice work about a 1 day job at most and looks very clean, nice job

  • The only problem for the stairs I'm looking to recarpet is that there isn't enough width on the underside of the bullnose for a tack strip. It's about half the width of a tack strip. I really like the method you came up with for your stairs though. Very nice. Perhaps I'll think up a hybrid solution.

  • I love how so many people have "the right way" to do this. Any contractor worth his salt will tell you that there are a bunch of ways to do this. This method works about as good as any other.

  • not exactly the right wat to do it but you've got the right idea and for a do it yourself not bad

  • I finished my bonus room up top. This works and looks really good.

  • Looks great. Brilliant idea. Thanks for posting :-)

  • obviously not an installer id cut one piece the length of the stairs and 1-8th bigger on the sides and install it from the bottom put a piece of tack strip on the tread and when you wrap it around you kick it stretching it onto the tack strip on the tread

  • excellent tutorial makes it a lot easier, gonna do this to my stairs this weekend ..looks great. thanks

  • Great job! I really like this idea due to the ease of just replacing just one step. I wouldn't mind being flamed by the carpet installers on here. Remember at the end of the day that is not your career =)

  • Thanks for the tip. Looks like a really good install.

  • Thanks for the tip. Looks like a really good install.

  • thanks for this post... will be laying stair carpet for the first time this week..

  • Great job! I wouldn't use the tackless under the nose though. Myself being the professional I am, I would use a staple gun to attach under the nose. Some idiot suggested not using any tackless and just using staples. Those are the installers you want to stay clear of. Always use tackles on stairs!! Also, on your next flight, give yourself at least an inch up the riser. It helps keep the carpet from binding on the riser and gives you a tighter tread. Any way, excellent work!

  • My basement stairs get so grubby due to light berber on them trampled by kids dirty feet. I feel like with your video I can replace at least the stairs with a easy to care for shag and because I'm super lazy, I would paint the back with a high gloss instead of the mdf. Thank you sharing your knowledge. Your steps look great by the way!

  • hi i am half way thrw doing a loft con i got pros to fit most of it but everything eles im doing and one of the things i was derding was carpeting the stairs and i rearly like the look of yours and how easy it looked to do so thanks kestralkerry

  • Nice job carpeting your stairs. I just bought the carpet for my top and basement stairs and plan on installing it soon. I have curved staircases too, which should make it harder. Any suggestions?

  • @dtaylor012 stick to installing carpet for the rest of your life dude. And keep up your bitchin' comments of carpet installation videos on YouTube. Glad to see I was part of your crusade.

  • i just feel sorry for the next homeowner who wants to replace the carpet someday. i just removed some carpet and the guy used so many NAILS to put in the carpet I wanted to find him and kick him in the nuts. But otherwise i dont see why professionals would care about this video.

  • Great job! I'm planning a similar project and intend to copy most of your process. Thanks for the lesson!!

  • Great Job and great video

  • I have installed carpet for 15 years and other than a few things that you did that where over kill I don't see anything wrong with this job! Hell you can come work for me if you want man!!! LOL, anyways good job bud.

  • For not knowing what your doing i think you took a pretty good stab at it. a couple things you should ponder before attempting agian...because of how you did your install when you need to replace your carpet your going to need to remove risers, next time when you rent your carpet kicker, rent a carpet tacker too. install your risers first and instead of using tack strip on your steps, staple under your tread and then in the crotch while streching with the kicker.

  • Hey man great job, I'm in your position "DIY". I plan on using your method but with my personal touch to do my basement steps. I'll most likely post a vid of how my basement was before my brother-in-law and decided to finish it.

  • I think your video was detailed and you did a great job of explaining everything....I have never put any carpet down and your method looks great as a finished product! GOOD JOB!

  • Great job bro! I think you might have just saved me some cash!

  • great job only concern how easy will it be when its time to remove carpet if need to replace...otherwise thanks for the help, really like the white trim vs using carpet...looks great..

  • I installed carpet for 2 years. The tuck method is quick, however in high humidity areas such as down south cause the carpet to have to be re-stretched. Your method may take a little longer, but there was some real thought put into your project. It's very ingenious. What environment do you live in? Keep the videos coming!

  • in the northwest US. @justinhrocco

  • Great job! Inspiring!

  • good job :)

  • The finished result looks excellent, can you come and live with me please?! Great work :)

  • Stairway looks great! Rather than paying a carpet installer $200.00, I am hoping my husband will look at this and give it a try. Thanks, diy4once.

  • wow!!! great video. Thanks for the uploading.!!!

  • really like this look. will be trying it in near future. Thanks!

  • I THINK THIS IS A NICE EASY WAY TO DOING THIS. BUT THE 1X6 TAKES AWAY FOOT SPACE WHEN GOING UP TOES HIT COMING DOWN HEEL HITS. THIS HAPPENS ON OLDER STEPS NOT SO MUCH ON NEWER ONES BECAUSE A NEWER ONE HAS MORE DEPTH. REAL GOOD WAY TO DO TIME AND MONEY SAVED. PREP TO END OFF JOB 2 DAYS MONEY SPENT $50 CARPET $20 PADDING RENT KICKER 24 HR $12 RENT 18 GAUGE 5/8 STAPLES $40 24HR JOB 3 STARS

  • You should not care what negatice messages you get, for I do not think they can do a fine job as you did, for I do not see another video correcting or doing it better. Anyways, I am applying you method to my project and its looking great<

    THANKS

  • Hey you should not care what negative comments you received, they probably can't do a fine jobs as you did, for I do not see another video correcting or doing it better. Anyways I just want to let you know that you idea is the method that I am applying to my basement stairs, THANKS ALOT.

  • looks good but u dont need tack strip under the stair nosing just shoot a few staples in there

  • Nice job. I'm a contractor and wish half my subs could do quality work like that. Time is money for them tho. As for the negative posters, I've hired guys that talk like they're the best and everyone else sucks, but every time they fart things up and they never get work from me again. Kudos man.

  • nice man very nice

  • I think this is a really great idea. Kuddos for thinking outside of the box.

  • looks good to the average eye. even if it won't outlast a proffesional install. thanks for sharing.

  • Clever NEWB install, Looks Great!

  • I've done many home projects. Carpeting stairs has intimidated me until this. this is great. Thanks diy4once

  • I think you did an amazing job, I have been in the business for many years, I love to see insight from people that have intelligent approaches, I am never too old to learn something new. When at first you said " I am going to paint some MDF" I was concerned, then as I patienty waited i noticed it was finished on one side.. Nice ingenuity and overall outcome..Thanks for sharing this

  • no pad lol

  • very nice.....classy like you said......

  • thanks for the video. it was really helpful

  • NICE! demographics for DIY: Propensity to DIY rises with income and education. Guys like us have more confidence in ourselves then a potential high school drop out. I have never called a contractor and you'd never know it in my beautiful home..

  • best carpeting stairs video i've seen. most don't actually show you what you have to do. i've been wanting to do the same thing to my basement stairs but didn't know how to do it. now i do, thanks man!

  • My question to all these professionals watching my videos, and flaming me with negative comments... WHY ARE YOU WATCHING MY VIDEO? My i.d. is "DIY4ONCE" not "I hire idiots who feel better about themselves by anonymously flaming someone's YouTube posts". That's why I'm DIY, because I don't want to risk the chance that one of you fuck ups ends up on my property.

To the rest of the craftsmen who have constructively posted criticism... Thanks for spreading your knowledge.

  • @diy4once nice job m8 I'm going to be stealing you idea thanks, oh and you've got to wonder why a carpet installer is checking out how to do it on youtube anyway, especially for a DIY post lol.

  • @diy4once

Some people are just plan stupid and dumb. You're clearly said it is a DIY project and a rental tool. If you were a pro you would have all the tools to do the job. The idea of doing the job yourself is to save money, gain some personal experience and the joy of doing it. You're doing fine man. Let them say what ever. Tell them to pose their own clip.

  • @diy4once

I want to say a heart felt thanks!! for weekend DIY with very limited skills and a wife with a a very fine eye, you made me look like a hero. No idea why you receive a negative comment. My job came out top notch. After following your 8 minutes of briliance, I think the look exceeds fully carpeted stairs that would have taken an ametuer like me a week to be acceptable to the woman of the house. Rock on.

  • @diy4once So fricken right. I have had enough negative experiences with "professionals" I learned I can do most home repair with thoughtful planning, time and research. Thanks for your vid on stairs. I'm doing mine in a week- and it too will come out perfect- because I care more than the average contractor.

  • Comment removed

  • @viewervideo011242234

Or as a professional sometimes it's hard to sit back and watch someone misleading people. It would be better to not teach people at all, if you are not teaching them the correct way. I'm sure you are a professional installer though. There is no superiority complex, i don't know what you do for work, but if someone made a video how to do your job, but showed everyone incorrectly. Then you have some asshole customer saying "that's not the way this tool did it on youtube."

  • @anythingoriginal then you make a video, put it up and show us the right way...

  • Are you serious?

  • looks fucking shit!

  • Looks real nice man! Good job on coming up with a nice install on your first go.

  • We're about to try this method on our stairs!

  • Looks good to me bro, do your thing man. It meets your needs, look very professional and works just as fine as any other methodology, kudos bro!

  • i might b late but

    not tack was needed under

if you press on the top tack it will grip

kick with your body just as you would punch

and as for classy one of my clients sanded the wood on the stairs and varnished them.

5*s b/c not bad for a first timer

  • @TubErSkillZ ..** what was varnished was what you covered with the painted thingy

  • Hi,

It's much better to cut a long piece of carpet and then install from the bottom to the top.Another tip is using electric staple gun.

  • I like the idea...very good for a DYI!

Some mentioned that it wasn't neccessary to install the tak-strip under the stairnose.I see that you did it, to create a gap at the rise,to help lock in the trim piece...good stuff!

I've been installing floors for 20 years now,and I love learning new tricks.I wouldn't personally install carpet on stairs that way,but if it was ever requested,I would.

    Great job!

  • yea i would not wanna rip up this job. anyone watching this please for me and fellow installers do not use nails and dont put strip under the nose. the steps could be put on in one piece by the way.

  • difinately didnt need strip under the nose of the stair and if you'll hold the kicker of the strip you wont wear the teeth out so quick

  • One thing you don't have to tack the sides in because in time that would make a bump and u don't need a tackstrip under the stair nose just use staples. What you did with the base board that u put in was very unique because not many carpet installer does that or that depends on the customer too once I did with tile and it came out prety good but this is good video that u did good luck man

  • You dont need tackstrip under bullnose. And why not run a whole piece up the step .every body has there own way.Ok I just heard its his first time doing it .I see now .Hey if your going to do any more buy a electric staple gun .I also now see that he's putting a trim on front plate.looks good

  • I'm a Carpet Installer, and I have to give props to this guy, really good job for doing it yourself.. I feel sorry for the guy that has to replace the Carpet in the future... Excellent Job! The stapler was over-kill, but great job for a do it yourselfer.

  • I give this guy an A plus for doing it himself!!! Great job. It's carpet, not rocket science, so if it fits well and looks good, then mission accomplished.

  • not bad. but you could have saved yourself alot of trouble by eliminating the tackless. you don't need it on steps.especially under the nose. and if you do use tackless, you don't need tacks(or in your case , nails) . that's why they call it "tackless". because if you use it, it eliminates the need tacks. so nailing it was useless. also, they make electric staple guns just for carpet installation. brad nails are for mouldings. good luck trying to rip up that carpet in the future.

  • You may save time stapling under the nose first, and if you do you will save money by using less tackstrip. Also I have done treads only before, the problem some people have is getting scuffs on the riser. Nice video.

  • very good tutorial..thanks

  • Thanks for the post. As someone on a budget you've inspired me to do this long overdue installation myself. For those that can afford to have it professionally done, more power to them. your installation makes sense. It actually looks far better than a fully wrapped installation in my opinion. Furthemore, having kids and knowing that you can replace individual treads is absolutley fantastic. This is an invaluable video in my opinion

  • i think it looks pretty sweet!

  • What the hell are u doin? Smoothedge on the sides and you should have pad on the nosing as well, U suck and should have stuck with hardwood.

  • if you are such an expert why are you even watching this video.

  • @fish0787 We watch these videos because there is alot of people that have no clue what they are doing, and spreading alot if bad information to other people that have no idea what there doing. Would'nt you rather have a professional criteek a post if you dont know what your looking at? (and possibly learn the proper way in the process)

  • @loopyalcsel ...u never wrap the nose with pad when you wrap it with carpet.

  • good om ya man ... your the first person to actually know whats up in the carpet biz reg specs half inche over the nose anyways cheers

  • I don't know why some of the nasty comments on here. I personally want to thank you for uploading a great video. I'm about to do my stairs so this really helped, cheers : )

  • you are a retard you have no clue in what your doin

  • @poiman1234 Thanks for applying your brain and poor grammar to such brilliant constructive criticism. I hope it took you all of the 8:12 of my video to come up with such a clever reply. What I accomplished works perfectly for my needs.

  • @poiman1234 fuck off dude!

  • im a floorlayer from the u.k u are absolute pants and your methods are that of a ten year old get a grip and hire a professional dowg

  • this reply is kind of useless, if your a floor layer why did you not follow the instructions of the video and say how to do it right

  • mate... you are my guru... i just found how to do my stairs way i love it... it is fantastic... thanks for sharing...

  • hey nice works..thanks for sharing.

  • looks comfy under your feet

  • Looks good, very helpfull, thanks for sharing!

  • looks nice

  • That looks very nice! Nice color choices too. Thank you for posting this, I will find it very useful in future home repairs.

  • slick

  • For a real do it yourself job although it seems time consuming (not that you need to rush the job) pretty sweet. Beats some videos where they dont even show your every bit of detail. Oh yeah you might want to put some boots on before you bust up your big toe with all them kicks :-)

  • with the kicker you use your knee.

  • Wow, nice job, I love the way you have the board painted the accent color. Doesnt seem that you got flammed too much for using the staples. Seems like that worked well for this application. Great job and way to share.

  • Thankyou so much. You justs solved a huge problem for me. I installed laminate and tile in the livingroom and kitchen and have old carpeting on the stairs I want to rip out but I have heard bad things about laminate on stairs. This is perfect because I have the entire upstairs I can now go ahead and laminate. I will be using your method for sure. THANKS!!!

  • awesome job i am impressed.
