The Fed gov NPRC has admitted and apoligized for losing my records but the VA denies my claims why, even after giving them letters from NPRC the fed gov. After waiting 6 years I am now waiting for the board of appeals why because the fed gov does not care if the fed gov lost your records. I know some vets feel abandoned. In the city where I live there is help for emotional problems. I have offered to help with things such as transportation, making appointments,etc. I know the psychiatrist, he is a good one. I've been contemplating joining the marines for a few years and while I would gladly serve my country if it ever needed me I have a few internal arguments and fears that I just cant work out. Most Americans don't even acknowledge that we are still fighting and people are still dying. Previous wars were in the news DAILY, peoples lives revolved around what was happening with the war. The help for Veterans will only come from the American people who are informed, the rest are selfish sheep. I've always kind of felt PTSD was overblown, but we try pretty hard to make sure people are treated/screened for it. I found the screening so in depth it really irritated me... but I don't know what the answer is.

I don't follow this issue, but from your video, it seems a safe bet that you're not going to pull your punches in evaluating how the government is handling veteran's mental health. Obama's budget has a $25 billion increase in VA funding over the next 5 years. Is it enough? Do you see signs that it will be spent correctly? Will enough go for PTSD and mental health? What's your take on Obama's actions so far (through May 2009)?

Served in the Marines from 1986-1994. Diagnosed with PTSD in 2009. Never go to the VA first. . Go to VA Outreach Center first. Than the American Legion. Than the VA. In 2009 I lost my job due to this illness and it is eating me up. Military exposures and stressors can do many things to a Veteran long after you have left. Go the a Veterans Outreach Center FOR HELP first. Than contact a service officer at the American Legion AND THAN GO TO THE VA. VA a revolving door. Semper Fi!!!!
They claim 20% of all returning soldiers suffer from PTSD, I think thats way low! Even more of a slap in the face was the fact that the Army intentionally denied benefits to soldiers suffering from PTSD, which Im glad they were sued, and the Defense Dept ordered the Army to assign at least a 50 percent rating to all soldiers discharged with PTSD in the future. But those who were denied deserve their dues. Its disgusting how we treat our vets!

PTSD Traumatic brain injury from the IED blasts are real. Our vets are coming home wounded and traumatized, we have to help them. They put their lives on the line for us, for our freedom, the most wonderful country in the world. WE CAN NOT ABANDON THEM. We have to help them heal, that's our civilian duty! What's the matter with everyone, isn't that clear?The TBI/PTSD vets deserve the gift of hyperbaric oxygen therapy. They deserve a chance to heal the brain jarring injuries of war.
few weeks ago at fort carson at wtu a soilder chased his wife out side with a gun shooting at her. she didn't get hurt but he went back into the house and killed himself.
i think the problem is people dont understand what they went thought the troops really have no body that understand them. well thats how they feel. If they all had somebody to talk to i think it would be better.
I am a Sgt in in the us army getting out of the army due to PTSD (MEB) i have seen many people who got denied help due to it and i have seen soilders who hasn't even been in combact claming PTSD and guess what they are getting out with pay due to because they have did a 24 hour duty. thats how fucked up our med is in the army. our med sucks in the army and i am pissed due to it. good video need to be put out to the amercan people.

As far as sacrificing for my country, I was eager to do this and I am willing to go back if I was allowed. I served my country because I love my country, I did not do it for my government alone.

My friend's joints are deteriorating from gulf war syndrome and they won't even pay for his hospital visits. I rent a small room in his flat to help him with bills even though I could get a much better place for the money. It affects all of us in some way. I am paying less child support than I should because I can't stand to see him suffer he's in so much pain. No human or animal should have to endure that.

I got awarded 30% disability for PTSD. Big whoop! I can't sleep normal hours. (Sleep Apnea and Insomnia) I am a computer tech and can't get a job since I am "older". Thanks for using us up US Army and then throwing us away just so you can do the same to the next young soldier that comes down the line!
I finally went to VA to apply for compensation today.I was sexually assulted while in the military.Today the VA rep said "What did you do to place yourself in that position." I have PSTD, anxiety, depression. Then endured the same type of statement from my OIC and others. Raped again. Tried suicide. They have to listen, PTSD effects everyone. My family suffers. I've Scared them with my actions. Those who can make changes need to now.We served them.
I am a veteran who has been diagnosed with PTSD and have attempted suicide. I was drinking alot to cope and the meds werent working fast enough. I was also taking ambien because I absolutely could not sleep. This culminated in me consuming a large quantity of alchohol and taking the rest of my Ambien. I woke up in the ER with cuts in my wrist. This is a real issue America and we dont ask much for our sacrifices other than that you care and take notice.

I have gone thru 2 wars. I am one of the few that will step forward in the active army and help my fellow brothers in arms with this. Why? I have been fighting it for over 4 years.
I'm confused...my (idiot) soon to be ex, good-for-absolutely-nothing, son-in-law told us at Christmas that "if he played his cards right he'd never have to go back to iraq and would get a check from the gov't for the rest of his life" and he is doing exactly that!!! He doesn't have PTSD any more than the man in the moon! He went into the Army abusive and manipulative and is leaving the Army with a nice fat check and an excuse to sit on his ass for the rest or his life. And he made it look easy!!

Campbell Ky, put a gun in his mouth and took his own life. We should Demand that some US Army policies can be reviewed, updated, and actually enforced. I have send a very long winded letter to the President, Vice President, Secretary of the Army, Secretary of Defense and a laundry list of Congressmen and woman. Well... I will not give up or shut up.
ive been to iraq. ive been to afghanistan. i became dissabled and was diagnosed with PTSD. im lost in my life. i was a sniper, thats it. im having trouble getting work because apperantly jumping out of planes and precission shooting isnt a desired skill. most importantly, knowone around me cares. there has to be more help for soldiers like me. i have to get my feet on the ground but cant get a chance.
My husband killed himself after 17 years in the army and being diagnosed with PTSD. Because he went AWOL the military put him in the brig. When he was released 3 months later he had no benefits, no medical, nothing. He killed him self and now our 4 children still have no benefits. VA says they will not give my children benefits because after my husbands 17 years he was released on a other than honorable discharge. GOVERNMENT DID NOT CARE ABOUT MY HUSBAND and do not care about my children!
OUTSTANDING, I served in Iraq 06-07 in the mean time back home my home went in to foreclosure, . for the most part I feel most americans respect our service but returning recently I was driving fast and then drove slow on straight ways. a porshe drove right into me, trigger effect happened.. this guy pulled a gun and i beat him up right there. I officer knew what i was going through as so and cut me a break the fool in the porshe went to jail

I thought i would join the military when i was young but as i got of age sep 11th happened when i was 17, and i began to believe differently , especially the after the proceeding years after 911. |It didnt seem worth it, the army uses those commercials and go to your schools to trick the poor into signing up . they wave that"better yourself" shit in your face to tempt you as a way of salvaging your future. I have served my country for 19 years in the Air Force. I have had 2 back surgeries and currently have PTSD. Now the Air Force plans on retiring me. They use us and abuse us and then throw us away like trash!

I don't think it's being ignored - they simply do not have a CLUE on how to treat it let alone cure it. And BTW - 90% of the entire population is traumatized by something - who by prenatal trauma, who by birth trauma and who by early childhood trauma that consumes them throughout life. The remainder are traumatized later in life through acts of heinous violence - the groove/cut and slash to the soul is in most everyone alive today. What is different is the age the trauma happened.

History lesson of veterans PTSD. Civil war veterans called it melancholy. WWI veterans called it shell shock. WW2 veterans called it battle fatigue. Vietnam War veterans called it PTSD for the first time. The more things change the more they remain the same. All of these veterans had veterans organizations to deal with the legacy of homelessness and traumatized veterans from all these wars. Try working with your fellow veterans to affect change.
I do not live in the usa ,but the same sort of thing happened to the canadian natives which went to war in WW 2 they came back and most ended up homeless with out medical help & most just drank them selves to death. what is going on is the same a vietnam forget the war forget the people who there and now it is just happening again forget the war forget the people and save money by screwing them over what happen to the respect of the veterans ?

The Fed gov NPRC has admitted and apoligized for losing my records but the VA denies my claims why, even after giving them letters from NPRC the fed gov. I know some vets feel abandoned. In the city where I live there is help for emotional problems. I have offered to help with things such as transportation, making appointments,etc. I know the psychiatrist, he is a good one. You have to reach out for help by letting us know where you are and what you need. PTSD is a nightmare. It is treatable. It's worth trying to get help. Mani 251.490.4660

I've been contemplating joining the marines for a few years and while I would gladly serve my country if it ever needed me I have a few internal arguments and fears that I just cant work out. Most Americans don't even acknowledge that we are still fighting and people are still dying. Previous wars were in the news DAILY, peoples lives revolved around what was happening with the war. The help for Veterans will only come from the American people who are informed, the rest are selfish sheep. Forget the politicians of all parties, they are only interested in getting elected to stay on their gravy train.

I've always kind of felt PTSD was overblown, but we try pretty hard to make sure people are treated/screened for it. I found the screening so in depth it really irritated me... but I don't know what the answer is.

Served in the Marines from 1986-1994. Diagnosed with PTSD in 2009. Never go to the VA first. . Go to VA Outreach Center first. Than the American Legion. Than the VA. In 2009 I lost my job due to this illness and it is eating me up. Military exposures and stressors can do many things to a Veteran long after you have left. Go the a Veterans Outreach Center FOR HELP first. Than contact a service officer at the American Legion AND THAN GO TO THE VA. VA a revolving door. Semper Fi!!!!

They claim 20% of all returning soldiers suffer from PTSD, I think thats way low! Even more of a slap in the face was the fact that the Army intentionally denied benefits to soldiers suffering from PTSD, which Im glad they were sued, and the Defense Dept ordered the Army to assign at least a 50 percent rating to all soldiers discharged with PTSD in the future. But those who were denied deserve their dues. Its disgusting how we treat our vets!

PTSD Traumatic brain injury from the IED blasts are real. Our vets are coming home wounded and traumatized, we have to help them. They put their lives on the line for us, for our freedom, the most wonderful country in the world. WE CAN NOT ABANDON THEM. We have to help them heal, that's our civilian duty! What's the matter with everyone, isn't that clear?The TBI/PTSD vets deserve the gift of hyperbaric oxygen therapy. They deserve a chance to heal the brain jarring injuries of war.

I am a Sgt in in the us army getting out of the army due to PTSD (MEB) i have seen many people who got denied help due to it and i have seen soilders who hasn't even been in combact claming PTSD and guess what they are getting out with pay due to because they have did a 24 hour duty. thats how fucked up our med is in the army. our med sucks in the army and i am pissed due to it. good video need to be put out to the amercan people.

There are stories on both ends of every war.He's not talking so much about that as he is the soldiers going unhelped and untreated. You haven't even graduated high school yet, but you pretend to understand the world. My friend's joints are deteriorating from gulf war syndrome and they won't even pay for his hospital visits. I rent a small room in his flat to help him with bills even though I could get a much better place for the money. It affects all of us in some way. I am paying less child support than I should because I can't stand to see him suffer he's in so much pain. No human or animal should have to endure that.

I got awarded 30% disability for PTSD. Big whoop! I can't sleep normal hours. (Sleep Apnea and Insomnia) I am a computer tech and can't get a job since I am "older". I finally went to VA to apply for compensation today.I was sexually assulted while in the military.Today the VA rep said "What did you do to place yourself in that position." I have PSTD, anxiety, depression. Then endured the same type of statement from my OIC and others. Raped again. Tried suicide. They have to listen, PTSD effects everyone. My family suffers. I am a veteran who has been diagnosed with PTSD and have attempted suicide. I was drinking alot to cope and the meds werent working fast enough. I was also taking ambien because I absolutely could not sleep. This culminated in me consuming a large quantity of alchohol and taking the rest of my Ambien. I woke up in the ER with cuts in my wrist. This is a real issue America and we dont ask much for our sacrifices other than that you care and take notice.

Campbell Ky, put a gun in his mouth and took his own life. We should Demand that some US Army policies can be reviewed, updated, and actually enforced. ive been to iraq. ive been to afghanistan. i became dissabled and was diagnosed with PTSD. im lost in my life. i was a sniper, thats it. im having trouble getting work because apperantly jumping out of planes and precission shooting isnt a desired skill. most importantly, knowone around me cares. there has to be more help for soldiers like me. i have to get my feet on the ground but cant get a chance.

My husband killed himself after 17 years in the army and being diagnosed with PTSD. Because he went AWOL the military put him in the brig. When he was released 3 months later he had no benefits, no medical, nothing. He killed him self and now our 4 children still have no benefits. VA says they will not give my children benefits because after my husbands 17 years he was released on a other than honorable discharge. GOVERNMENT DID NOT CARE ABOUT MY HUSBAND and do not care about my children!

OUTSTANDING, I served in Iraq 06-07 in the mean time back home my home went in to foreclosure, . for the most part I feel most americans respect our service but returning recently I was driving fast and then drove slow on straight ways. a porshe drove right into me, trigger effect happened.. this guy pulled a gun and i beat him up right there. I officer knew what i was going through as so and cut me a break the fool in the porshe went to jail

SOMEONE finally has the balls to say something about the way our Heros (and YES that what our men and women serving in the armed forces are) are being treat after going through what they have for our country.
Weather you believe in the war in Iraq or not think of it like this. Those men and women took a oath to defend this country, so isn't it the goverments job to take care of them. And if they don't take care of those that served how well are they going to take care of the rest of the nation.

the thing about the elections is the candidates are saying what the people want to hear, if obama started saying he would make this a top issue he would probaly loose credibility as in the grand scale of things its not as important about the economy ect. change is coming just dont be looking at how the get into power, just how they use it.

I thought i would join the military when i was young but as i got of age sep 11th happened when i was 17, and i began to believe differently , especially the after the proceeding years after 911. |It didnt seem worth it, the army uses those commercials and go to your schools to trick the poor into signing up . they wave that"better yourself" shit in your face to tempt you as a way of salvaging your future. But they just use and abuse you and spit you out, what ever they promise is never worth it

Great video. The military/Gov does down play the issue. When military blams the problem on the individuals, saying they where mentally unstable before they served, it disgusts me.
We should and need to support the Vets with our tax money.
While corporations get no bid Gov contracts for 100's of billions & perform horribly (no oversight or consequences), Gov tries to deny Vets of mental health care to save nickles.

My fellow Americans, stop fighting amongst yourselves and get behind your brave soldiers. Your fighting here is counterproductive. If you support the TROOPS then get angry with your congressman. Send your congressman/woman a letter every week, a phone call every week. Do something meaningful, be proactive, get involved beyond Youtube. This is not a game, men and women are being forgotten and discarded after service. Go to your local VA hospital and see for yourself. Go! Take a look at the VA.

I have served my country for 19 years in the Air Force. I have had 2 back surgeries and currently have PTSD. Now the Air Force plans on retiring me. They use us and abuse us and then throw us away like trash!
We sacrifice so much to give so many people freedom and peace in which they take for granted.
The USA is the greatest country on this planet. Our governments does so many great things for the people of the world. Why can't someone take care of the vets?

The US ARMY had 158 suicides last year. Stil the medical screenings when you leave are still a joke. i am with you 100%. i sent 2 sons off to iraq.thank god both came back alive and well. the u.s. gov't i kicking these soldiers who return home out of the service under trumped up charges to save money on disability payments. there was a histle blower in the temple tx va hospital that brouht this to the local for front and was dismissed and all the rest was swept under the carpet. the pentagon was behind his dimissal.

I don't think it's being ignored - they simply do not have a CLUE on how to treat it let alone cure it. And BTW - 90% of the entire population is traumatized by something - who by prenatal trauma, who by birth trauma and who by early childhood trauma that consumes them throughout life. The remainder are traumatized later in life through acts of heinous violence - the groove/cut and slash to the soul is in most everyone alive today. What is different is the age the trauma happened.

hey, i watched the video and i am with you 100%, i got some phone numbers out of the phone book and called my local and state lawmakers, i voiced what i wanted to say and i spoke with 2 out of 12, what a shame, we elect them,to serve us, but its the other way around, we are their meal ticket, our tax dollars, you know if they took a pay cut, like i think they should, we would have the money to take care of our wounded service men and women, and the care they need, sorry for the book :)

History lesson of veterans PTSD. Civil war veterans called it melancholy. WWI veterans called it shell shock. WW2 veterans called it battle fatigue. Vietnam War veterans called it PTSD for the first time. The more things change the more they remain the same. All of these veterans had veterans organizations to deal with the legacy of homelessness and traumatized veterans from all these wars. Try working with your fellow veterans to affect change.

I do not live in the usa ,but the same sort of thing happened to the canadian natives which went to war in WW 2 they came back and most ended up homeless with out medical help & most just drank them selves to death. what is going on is the same a vietnam forget the war forget the people who there and now it is just happening again forget the war forget the people and save money by screwing them over what happen to the respect of the veterans ?

He's been informed that ALL soldiers returning from deployment will be REQUIRED to have counseling provided by the Army. I truly hope that the counseling and the military standards in general have changed since you posted this video!
My biggest fear isn't him being killed. It's him being injured emotionally/mentally. (And yes, we've discussed this in depth. He's aware.)
