I love hippies!!!

I am a westerner, If all Turkish people would have been hippies I would have moved to Turkey without a moments notice. But since the country is dominantly overwhelmingly Islamic, and me being an atheist/agnostic of Greek descent, i would have to postpone my enthusiasm and hope to see such a day come to fruition.

Can any Turkish person here tell me if it is possible to be a Muslim & hippy at the same time? But I am not implying whether if the people in the video are or aren't.

@Aegialeus thanks but I think you got caught up in the religion issue too much, which if you poped over to Turkey, you will see we dont worry about religion so much. I'm atheist Turk and I im just an average citizen, there are many like me, specially the growing population. As for hippies and Islam, I think the general population of the hippies would be atheist, otherwise being a hippy wouldn't be so fun??

Thanks for answering my question...I was very keen to see if there was or not. But if a hippy movement did spread through out the Islamic world like wild fire it would such a positive thing for humanity.

I have many hippy friends, and they really don't associate with nationalistic ideologies and titles but regard them selves more as citizens of mother earth, and call her home. I think the title of your video should be more appropriately retitled to "Hippies of Turkey"

@Aegialeus Yeah, the special ideology about the Hippies is that they are the world citizens. Hippies of Turkey sounds wicked man, more appropriate tittle has been confirmed ;)

@Aegialeus I am also a Turkish atheist and raised up in Turkey have not had any problems with that. Believe me people has more problems with religion in West (Living in NL). There re more hippies in Turkey than it is in Greece I could say as somebody who has many friends on the scene.. Turkey even hosted Solarclipse, biggest global festival, just a few years ago.. Among these hippies there are Muslim people too as the other religions, being a hippy or a freak has nothing to do with the religion.

i think the greeks are more religious than the turks

for example if you fallow a controversial discussion between turks and greeks ,you will see that greeks always put the religious issue in the case most turks dont do that.
