I'm a high school history teacher and I always watch the christmas-in-the-trenches scene with my pupils when we're discussing the first world war. It says more I I can possibly tell them about the absurdity of war. It's always very very quiet in the classroom.

For those who can watch and understand this film without subtitles: I applaud you. This is such a fantastic, international and timeless film - everyone can relate to this, even if they or their family was not directly affected by WWI. We all are and will always remember those brave soldiers who fought and are fighting these senseless wars.

Joyeux Noël est un petit bijoux qui m'a bien ému. C'est vrai, on a facilement oublié cette partie de l'Histoire, pourtant, ça m'a touché de voir ce film retranscrire aussi bien une nuit de Noël entre Français, Britannique et Allemand. Malgré tout, le film ne laisse pas à part la férocité de la guerre et tous les problèmes qu'elle a apporté. Mais cette fraternisation temporaire prouve que même dans la guerre, les soldats avaient gardé une humanité profonde même pour leurs ennemis, ça c'est beau.
