The only reason they import the useless alphabet into Finnish is because of the Swedes because Swedish is the 2nd official language in Finland. By the way, Faeroese and Icelandic people's language is similar to Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, and German - but they are the only ones to remain that are closest to what the Vikings used to speak. ^^
I'm not sure about before Swedish occupation or how the Sami people came & later it was occupied by Russia. But back in the day, during Viking occupation, I do believe they used the Futhark runes, which is why Finland still has them. Elder Futhark is what the Vikings used, I think. I've never seen a Viking script with the Younger Futhark version. But you are right, they did use a Futhark script.
@Dimrain48 I'm not a faggot, I did not fully understand your first post as English isn't my first language.
I don't know why they used that intro for this song, but they probably thought it was beautiful (and I agree!) even though its associations with Christianity.
Since all Scandinavian (minus Finnish of course) languages are classified as Germanic languages, the old people used it as a "V" since in German the letter "W" is pronounced as an English "V", and the German letters "V" & "F" are both pronounced as "F"s, but as ruins ended and this new set of letters came around, things changed.
In our case, it's expected of us to rely on commonsense to differentiate between the sounds.
The Finnish people have letters C, Q, X, W, Z (maybe G too, not sure), but they never pronounce them - C is replaced by K or S - Q by K or KV - X by KS - W, just like Germans, is written as W but pronounced as a V - Z sounds are usually replaced by TS. The word is pronounced KIVENKANTAJA, but is written KIWENKANTAJA if the runes are translated literally. W came in through Germanic people into Finland.
So amazing!

@Dimrain48 The runes says: "MOONSORROW", which is the name of the band.
Under the red figure it says "KIVENKANTAJA" which is the album name.
Great song also!!! hails!!

Actually, in runes, it isn't "V", it's "W".
