  • really helpful :)

  • How could you fail the test on this manoeuvre?

(That's not a sarky comment but a genuine question by the way)

  • @FiyeroAndI Mainly due to poor control ie too wide on the corner or finishing wide from the pavement when asked to stop. Hitting the kerb on the way round. Observation : poor checks and not being aware of other drivers or pedestrians in the area especially when the front of your swings out you could cause a following driver to stop. If a problem occurs, and you feel too close to the kerb on the exercise, you can draw forward and correct the reverse which is just a minor driving fault

  • @erskinedom Oh OK. Thank you. :)

So if you do this you fail the whole test, right?

  • @FiyeroAndI - Yes on observation it's an immediate fail if you dont see another road user in time. Think how you would feel if another driver suddenly reversed in front of you when you were driving on the main road. - The control fault could be serious unless you can correct the position of the car in time

  • @erskinedom Thanks for your help.

  • @erskinedom i seem to struggle doing this manoeuvre...You mentioned that you start to turn in when the corner of the road passes through the rear window...is that the back window....the small one on the left...thanks great video.

  • @zaydeeable Hi - the point where you start to turn left is when the corner lines up with the side window - the point to straighten up the wheels is when the kerb lines up with the centre of the rear window - the amount of steering into the corner depends on how sharp the corner is

  • @zaydeeable .....

  • @erskinedom sorry the comment was accidently deleted. but i was just gonna say have you got a video on bay parking. thanks its a great video by the way.

  • @zaydeeable - I do have a video on bay parking but its on the Driving test dvd. I have only used just some clips for trailers - try "gerrybrennan1" on youtube

  • When pulling out use indicator. When turning corner use indicator. When pulling in and stopping use indicator. Shouldn't this be done in reverse?

  • @TheSnugPub

Yes I use the left indicator as a stopping signal if theres a following car when I'm passing the junction I intend to reverse into

  • @TheSnugPub No signal is needed to reverse as the reversing lights should warn other drivers of your intention

  • This is much easier in the because backing up through an intersection is completely illegal for obvious reasons.

  • Is he from "brrehh'enn?

  • I'm gonna thumbs up the Scottish accent!

  • @naveenudawella - THANKS FOR THE THUMBS UP ON SCOTTISH ACCENT

  • Scottish same as me

  • There is a big mistake that most Video tutorials are showing here. Most learners are not interested in seeing the outside of the car, but what they want to see is what the driver inside the car is doing. How is the driver executing observations and how he turns the steering wheel, otherwise the rest of stuff which they are showing is not helpful at all to learners.

  • @skhle

Hi - the full video showing the internal shots from the drivers point of view that you need are on the DVD itself.

This piece of footage has been edited.

  • it would be better if you SHOWED us what we would should SEE in the left rear window.

  • @2006kcl - Hi thanks for the comments. The video clip you watched has been edited - to see the side window and rear window view with the internal camera, its available on the finished disk "Driving Test DVD"

  • @2006kcl yes

  • what is the point of it?How do you get a fault here by touching the kerb?what is the examiner look in here?you ability to reverse safe?or what?I dont understand I can do this manoeuvre and no fault in my driving but got 4 serious-move off-speed-indicator & Turn in the road

  • @nuramoboy Faults can be scored from a deviation form best practice, driving error, serious or dangerous. All manoeuvres are marked for control and observation. An error for control could be touching or driving onto the kerb, going out too wide, poor control of the speed or too much adjustment. Whereas poor observation not being able to spot potential approaching traffic or not acting correctly to your observations. Remember you could get signalling moving off / stopping errors too.

  • Thanks
