the more years that pass the more alien and bizarre this cover will seem. talking Heads are art, this is a really disturbing form of kitsch that will be more profound as time passes.
i think Ryan does that dorky dancing because hes kinda mimicing David Byrne's moves from The Talking Heads lol. hes actually a big fan of them in real life and you can tell with his band Elephone
This is one of the times where I like the KI version better than the original. This is practically the whole song and Ryan does a great job and Martika stands out on the BGV's.
If u can take in to account that they're just kids on a tv show and get over the horrible pantomiming of musical instruments, lol the song is really tight. And they're definitely trying. Good job guys.
OMG I Want To Kill Myself. These Rich Brats Singing This " Talking Heads " Classic Is Gonna Make Me Throw Up All Over My Shoes. If Only A Grenade Blew Them All Up =)
@KidsIncorporated it's alrite its barely noticable. P.S, backing singers just have ridiculousy high voices, and the girl singer in verse 2 just dont work
disney could only go down hill after this, aka jonas brothers, highschool musical. cheetah girls. and every fucking person from one show on there being a singer is so annoying
I've started a petition to release every season of this show on DVD. you can find the url on my channel page, since I can't post it here. Just trying to get the word out!
Who cares if they are singing a Talking Heads songs I actually prefer that to the crap Hannah Montanna sings now ? Just compare and you'll see this in a different light lol
I watched Kids Inc. when I was a kid. I don't remember this. I love this song, but did anyone vet this? A bunch of kids on PBS singing a song about cocaine.
I disagree, i reckon Byrne would love this. I remember when the original came out and i think it got to 41 in the UK(when the singles chart meant anything) and was shocked it didn't do that well. I've never heard of this Kids inc, but for a kids show those backing harmonies are stunning. Very good.
thanks. I was never into these performing scenes when I was a kid, but I actually like this version better than the TH version - I miss the harmonies.
i read an artical once saying that it was mainly done because she had a really good ear and could do good harmony and the other girls were still learning to do it but her voice was strong.
Wow, this takes me back. What a fantastic cover! Too bad the lip-synch isn't their best. But otherwise, this is great. They really made this song their own instead of just trying to copy the original. Great arrangement!
@ChucksGhost01 more songs with good martika harmony (that i really noticed) are Cover Me, If You Leave, They Don't Know About Us.. i know there are lots more though
@jimmypi Yeah, I guess it's so underrated because so many have a tough time hearing anyone but David (can't remember his last name) from the Talking Heads singing it. I think Ryan does a great job with it too.
i have a question. did KI treat these songs as their own or were they just doing it by the artists who were popular at the time? i remember stacy saying something about this in the Guitarist episode when they sang that Tiffany single.
They did all the hits of the current time, as well as oldies. They did also have their fair share of original songs, too. If you go on the KI site you can see and hear all of the KI Originals from the series. Some were so good you would think they were radio hits...
can you put the episode up?
