Its a serious question as i am married to a Thai woman but we live in the UK as i get free medical treatment.

  • Looks like Paradise but where is the nearest hospital!

  • @MENSFORTHHILL99 20 minutes drive to the nearest district hospital, but if you were in real bad shape 140 km to Ubon. Jim

  • Wow the information on how to make rubber is really great, i have enjoyed your documentary alot, keep up the great work.

  • Wow the spirit house is so beautiful hahaha i love it. I hope that you experience fortune in three months.

When you are walking in the jungle are you really worried for snakes, i am from Australia and snakes absolutely petrify me.

  • @angie19874444 Thanks for the nice comments. No snakes are no problem. Jim

  • I have never known anything on how rubber is made although i always thought it came from the sap of a tree.

you can really recognise the Australian accent in this video.

I really like the bridge so authentic, the thailand landscape looks really lovely and lush and tropical.

The thailand people look so nice and welcoming and peaceful.

Wow five dogs this is alot. The fluffy dogs are really cute!

  • wow nice ,how much does it take to set up to grown rubber trees ,thinking off buying land in roi et issan ,and how long before you can make money ,how many acher have you got.and how many rubber tree cant fit in a acher

  • how much can you get from rubber tree would be nice if you can make a simple living with that work stress free not much to worry about hope thing will work out good for your family

  • I hope to be making more than a simple living. It just takes along time before the money starts to come in and not out. This year we will pass the brake even point. Jim

  • Nice video, I've been to this part of Thailand a few times,Udon Thani, Nong Khai, Nakom Phanom, Korat, Saetuk, and a few more places in Issan. The whole lifestyle is different. LOVE going there and I'll be back soon again. Good luck on your biz!

    Derwin

  • Yes it is a good place, peaceful and content, the way life should be. Jim

  • For the last few years Ive been growing rubber and eucalyptus near Ban Muang. Eucalyptus is easy but the rubber more demanding. I know therere a few variables but whats the approx return per rai? I tried working it out with average tree yield and prices but then Ill see a figure that totally contradicts my estimate. In your opinion what is a realistic return per rai?

  • hey my wife and I have about 50 rai of rubber trees in Udon Thani. I really want to go live there within a couple of years. I like a simple life & would rather live there than the U.S. How are liking it there. Are u living there of just on vacation.

  • I spend as much time as possible there, but like most of us money plays a big part and I have to go make some every so often. Hopefully the trees will be making enough this year to give up work. Yes I love it there, as does the wife and kids. Peacefull. Jim

  • Do you think the rubber trees can be enough to live off. How about a house. Did u guys build a house. Our plan is to build a house, have a vehicle, and enough savings so that we will have everything we need to live there. I feel stress free everytime I go back.

  • Dam well hope there is enough money from the trees to live well on. Just started on n extension on the house. 2 kids need more room. Have a pick up truck and 5 motorcycles. Need the bikes for the workers and the truck for the rubber etc. Jim

  • Jim, these vids are good mate. Very interesting to see how the rubber is put through the machines.

Your right about the OHS stuff, theyd have a pink fit at work if we did it that way. Lucky he only lost a fingernail.

great to look at all the other ones too

    Keep up the great info

  • @firestang1au Thanks for the praise, i try and post some more later in the year. Jim

  • will be good to see how it's all progressed.

  • I thoguht the land in Issan was to dry for rubber trees ??

  • most of Issan is too dry, but along the border you get a lot more rain. Jim

  • Very interesting video! Thank you for posting it!

  • good video

  • Hi James,

we have 700 rubber trees too ( now 4 years old) what is the average revenue in weight latex. I hear you said a half a kilo and 40 % is still water. Thanks and keep up the good work in Isan Henk

  • Hello nice too hear from you The latex from the tree is about 32% rubber content. If you have taken good care of your trees and they are of a newer cross breeds, then you should start getting some rubber at 5 plus years. Good luck. Jim

  • Same same but different, thanks for watching Jim

  • thailand countryside looks unbelievably identical to philippine countrysides

  • Hee hee, no matter where you go in the north east its all the same :) I go to a village on the outskirts of Kohn Kaen! You could be walking about that village :)

    Ur one lucky guy :)

  • Yes there is something about that part of the world that just makes you want to never return to the rat race, but I am back in OZ at the moment. Hopefully will be heading back with the a new baby in the middle of the year. This time for good JIM

  • Lucky guy! With the global economy woes its knocked my plans back a bit! I too hope to be as good as living out there by the end of the year :)

  • Nice to hear from you, if you get back to Ubon ask for me in the wrong way cafe and we can have a beer Jim

  • Stay away from rice paddies, they are too wet and the soil will be in poor shape. Best of luk in Lao, my place is 15 km. from the border JIM

  • I found it hard going up there! Its a bit dirty and very basic!

  • hello Jez Yes it takes awhile to get used to the life style, but once you settle in it's hard to return to the world.
