I just bought this exact year and model about a month ago. Thus far, I absolutely love the car. It handles amazingly well. The only thing that I could complain about is some minor wind noise at highway speeds. But I really don't think its that bad -especially taking into account that the windows don't have door frames around them. Oh, and the seatbelt chime starts going off almost immediately after you start the engine. Overall though, I think that I'd give the car a 9.5 out of 10. I dig it :-)
@motorcyclekopp *NOTE: I figured out how to disable that annoying CONTINUOUS seatbelt chime that I complained about in my original comment (check out my channel for the remedy). So now, my only complaint is the wind noise, but I can live with it.
I am still enjoying drivng my 05 impreza 2.5i, except for scheduled maintenance it's been very reliable and feels solid and quiet on the highway. Fuel economy is exactly as stated in the brochure.
@randyroo141 Hey do you still have your impreza? Im looking at an 06 s-sedan and an 08 hatchback rx for my first car, is there much difference between the two? I cant find anything on the web, it's all about wrx's and sti's. Which one would you reccomend?
@smithiy69 Well ive had an 07 impreza(which is exactly like the 06) and i now have and 08 impreza sedan. hopefully i can help you out a little bit. I loved my 07 to death it performed great no matter what. But i love the 08 better. It just seems to perform better and run smoother and is more spacious with leg room. If i had a choice id chhose the 08 because they changed every aspect of the car to a better design. But both are great cars and great choices
@sdhusker15 Hey thanks for responding. I think you've got me on the new sedan shape now, the hatchbacks looked really cool but the back of the new sedan looks much more aggressive. I've been on carsales.com looking for a good impreza but the best I can find is an 09 rs thats top of the range with sun roof and all, but it was damaged in the vic hail storm and was written off, I also found out it's really hard to get insurance on a written off car. so wish me luck. also how is the exhaust on urs?
@smithiy69 Well i have stock exhaust on it, and its surprisingly quiet unless you are excelerating hard. I wish it would be louder. Just doesnt have the same sound as past subarus.
"Dated Interior design"? This car has very good supported bucket seats unlike of those other auto makers that claim that they have bucket seats which have no support at all. The black and gray interior is used to make it a more "sporty" feeling. And as subaru20101992 mentioned that this car is not made for families. This is a basic car of the most famously known car Impreza WRX STi. And this car is not "cheaply" made compare to the other cars on the market with its all wheel drive & disk brakes.
i own one of these and cant disagree more i believe this car isnt made for families thats why it has such a small back seat the bucket seats are awesome interior looks better then most only thing i didnt like was the radio i replaced with a deck and 4 speakers and i get plenty of comments
@subaru20101992 well the impreza chassis is an eco-box meant for normal drivers. however I will agree the car is better than the reviewer makes it out. WAAAAAY more fun than any civic or corolla which are the cars in its class.
with some suspension mods you can tear autoX up, have a reliable DD with a good amount of torque from a 4banger, AND get around in the snow and rain and maybe scrap 30mpgs on the highway.
I've heard that the transmission is a bit abrupt on takeoff on 2006-07 Imprezas. Is this true?
