  • that included some good points I hadn't heard before

  • at 2.09 his left foot must not move... that's for sure!!! i used to do that and i saw a video from mats willander about the serve that was talking for that front foot. i will listen to mats!!! it was from willander on weels (wow) you can check

  • sorry I think this is terrible form, no offense.

  • *search youtube for Milos Raonic Serve (analysis, slow motion video), you'll notice that all the points highlighted in this video are just touched upon in his action, but not overemphasised. More importantly is the second point, don't keep the racquet pointing up too long and try and keep the arm square i.e. elbow pointing towards the back and not to the ground. Racquet goes behind the head and cycles and accelerates forward, check out the video for yourself. Perfect serve with platform stance.

  • 2:10-2:13 Fuu-sion-Ha!

  • well i have a massive serve too.. but I didn't toss upwards but I throw front of mine. it's thaat right???

  • John Isner

  • I wish I was taller like John Janet and basically be on a ladder smashing balls looking down at the service box!!! :p

  • Not bad on covering the fundamentals, but missed the keys to a true power serve.

  • The lower body action isn't right for a power serve as this is neither a pin point or platform serve. The knees are also face in opposites and therefore you have negative movement behind. Nothing on a serve should be moving behind you as this LOSES speed! knees must move in the same direction to gain a full strength movement. Also the players back is being used far to much. You lose speed if the starting position of the back is to bent as it becomes a strain and not a movement. look at pro's!!!

  • Only picked up the game 4 months ago so it was quite difficult to put all the different serve components into practice.

But only last week everything came together and combined with a fairly loose continental grip so you get a whip effect for racquet head acceleration - I now have a proper power serve!

  • Hi I'm 15 and i stand 5'9" and my serve is my second serve is always my main problem i also use a pin-point stance of serve and but i can't have a reliable second serve i usually go to a slice second serve normally but i also try the spin serve but it always hit the net or sometimes go to the baseline i use a continental grip in my 1st serve and a eastern backhand grip in my 2nd i just want help in my second serve and oh yeah i don't bend much but i try to and i always can't keep up my head up

  • Dude its natural ! Everyone do that when serving though he dosen't know that its that much typical ! That's human phychi man ! ...... ;O

  • Helped me a lot...thank you!

  • @TH3BUSH1D0 No Probs!!

  • foot fault ...

  • @mechkapechka he's aiming to perfect his upper body tehnique, or at leastteach it to us

  • @mechkapechka it's not

  • @DevilsPortuguese Pause at 2:44. His left toe is clearly on the line.

  • @mechkapechka exactly !

  • That was EXCELLENT the way it was broken down. Thank you!!!!!

still there are a few things im not so confident in understanding, and that is the type of grip used for which type of serve and the big one...... Pronation.

  • HELLO, i just recently became 16 and i hope i make to a good level tennis university , i am 6'3'' and i play local tournaments , my ground strokes are on a usta level but the only thing i lack is a serve , it goes around 40-50 , what can i do

  • hi im a 13 year old tennis player who just can't get enough kick on his topspin serve, what should i do?

  • Great video very helpful thanks!

  • i have a good kick serve. It bounces up around head height or higher usually and obviously, bouncing the opposite direction. I need to get some more mph on it while still getting the massive kick. Is it all about knee bend. I feel when I really get a good knee bend it helps. I know everything has to be in synch, but what should I really focus on.

  • @moemoemoe567 Knee bend is very important as is the resulting racket head speed.....as you know they are linked so the more power you can develop in your legs the greater the resulting racket head speed and "kick"....hope that helps!!

  • @moemoemoe567 pronate too

  • It looks difficult. Can you provide tips for a less powerful serve with a slice? That's the one I currently use.

  • Very good job Paul. But i've a question.

    Dont you think is there a left-shoulder / leg-push syncronism ???

in the acceleration phase ( sec 03:00 ), when the legs begin to push ... i seem the left shoulder must drop down to make space to the right shoulder ,...

    i seem this helps coordination...

    Thanks

  • great video.. ive been searching for about an hour for this sort of analysis on the serve- this is by far the best one ive found.

  • 2:58 let's us see why his knee bend is wrong. He's got both knees pointing in different directions which makes him wobble when he straightens them. Less power, less drive, not as consistent, etc... Fix that and he'll have a pretty good serve.

  • foot fault!! lol just kidding good vid

  • no probs buddy...anything else u want??

  • brilliant..thx for this !!
