  • the first thing that asians are shown is "RESPECT" so why exactly dont they show it?

  • The overwhelming majority of blacks are simply not capable of applied critical thought to the degree whites and Asians are.

  • lol i swear to god that literally as i was watching your video and then i saw the bugs kept coming i started feeling bugs all over me ... i'm still feeling them actually omg so disgusting :S anyways back to the video uhmm i'm latin but i was still a little bit offended by the video because as latin my skin is kinda dark too so i think it was a little bit unnecesary to go that dark and looking that fake and also with the braiding on the hair i think it was so stereotype, but who knows mb wsn'tprs

  • your smocky hot mamy.

  • why do you keep walking? i wish you just stay put or move from time to time instead of walking all the time... it is quite distracting, much more of you catching all the bugs coming your way!! aissssh!

  • New Guinea shares same island with Malaysia. Blacks are living on the island of Malaysia Island

  • i thoght it was funny but personally that me i laught at alot of things

  • If people do not like you ... it's not bcs you're black but because you're stupid ...

  • So ... I think the bugs are racist too ... Come on ! I am tired of all these losers thinking they are the center of the world, the victims of the world ... You know what, every one suffers racism or xenophobia at least once ... even Whites. So Suck off ... How long will blacks continue to cry they are the "victim minority" ... Everyone is a minority somewhere, and guess what, there are 1,2 billion Blacks in the world, so stop saying you are a minority ...

  • Today I want to talk about.. Being black in Korea. LOLOLOLOL

  • I think the reason to why they are welcomming to you is that you are fairly good looking. Personal looks are more important than race. However, people tend to generalize as well. If the first african they see are fat and ugly, all africans get fat and ugly. If the first canadian they see is gay, all canadians are gay. I guess the discussion should be more about stereotyping than racism sometimes...

  • Koreans discriminated blacks in Dallas,K-pop singers made fun of Thainese victims of the flood,Korean composer calls blacks barbric monkeys on youtube

  • @Rocksinger1500 to be exact...victim of floods in the Philippines, some korean girl said "those monkeys deserve to die in the flood".

  • I could not stop cracking up at your bug situation. So funny! Great insight into Korea though, thank you!

  • I dunno, I personally wasn't offended but I have a thick-skin, I guess I can see why it would be offensive. I just don't like that people see a group of people doing something like that and then say all Koreans are racist, that statement is racist in the generalization. Those specific people did it not all of Korea.

  • Yes I agree thats a GREAT idea! You ALL need to go to Korea!!!

  • get out the park its full of bugs - dauhh

  • You claim you never got stared at in the US? Black men stare at women all the time, in an "I'm about to rape you" look. Is that racist too?

  • @IndianPrince04 How the hell do you look at someone like "I'm about to rape you?" You are ignorant as hell!!

  • I consider it offensive, but not racist. Like you said, they can only go off what they see on t.v. And if you watch BET, they make us look HORRIBLE.

  • you're very attractive black girl

  • Bug's love shit!

  • Those Korean bugs are RACIST!! :-P

  • @MissMidoria Those korean bugs are not racist. they just spotted some walking chocolate and said "hell yeah ima get some sugar tonight!"

  • my skin is crawling because of the bugs

    D:

  • the bugs are so distracting i would have dropped the camera by now and ran off

    :D lol

  • I'm white. I have red hair and I lived in Korea for 6 years. When I walked around I would get started at and some people would stop and ask me questions but I NEVER thought they where being racist. Even as a 9 YEAR OLD I understood that they haven't seen people of a different ethnicity very often. You need to understand the Korean culture more.

  • When I saw the clip of the Korean dancers I didnt know what to think at first were they doing it to "make fun" of African american people with the painted faces and wild hair or is that their way of mimicing African americans as some people would probably do on Holloween. In the end I wasent offended because we do the same thing on Holloween, painted faces, kimonos,etc..I am African american and have heard Korean or the "Asian" race are racists. We are all the same and all individuals.

  • getting stares because you're a black woman in korea is like the same thing as people staring at me when i'm walking with my mexican girlfriend (i'm korean). people stare at people or things that they're not used to seeing.

  • Asians can actually be some of the most racist people you could ever meet since they live in an isolated world. thats why like Koreas 99% Korean ethnic.

  • you look like an ape

  • @xXTiramisuuuXx I want to kill your mother

  • @xXTiramisuuuXx Your mom looks like an ape xP

  • @IcePrincess642 u mad subhuman?

  • People are staring at you because you are really hot looking!!!

  • you're so hot (dare i say hot chocolate, without wanting to offend)

  • That is part of a cultural "norm" that leads to this comments like Jenny Hyun's racist rant!

  • i am black and thought..... wth ... then thought , are they trying to be like us????

  • wow that clip was ignorant i would have been highly upset

  • Wait...4:11 angle the camera at your boobs again I didn't see the bugs.

  • The bugs were attracted to the AfroSheen in your hair...lol.

  • It's all how people teach their children.

  • The bugs might think you're chocolate :)

  • fuck the video, run!

  • The bugs in Korea don't have a problem with black people!! Yay, lol....!!!

  • The reason that Koreans may think your from Malaysia is because of your features and hair. Generally southeast Asians have darker skin and Africanish features. Historically there are "black" people is Southeast asia. Not just in terms I skin color, but with close African lineage. The Orang Asli of indonesia and Agta of the Philippines are thought to be direct descendants of those who first left Africa 70k years ago to inhabit Micronesia, Polynesia, new guinea and southern asia. But most people

  • First let me say that I am a 30+ black man and in my opinion seeing the Koreans dressed up as black people for entertainment is no different than seeign black people dressed up as other races for entertainment in movies, or comedy skits and etc. #NotRacist

  • the bugs are like oooo looks its a black woman yummy lets get her....hmmm reminds me of me LOL

  • hm....it mainly is ignorance, but you can see theyre being more accepting, as the world becomes more accessible (esp through the internet) these misunderstandings will disappear. i already see korean idols collaborating with black americans - GD with Flo Rida, 2NE1 with Will.I.Am, countless times ive heard Koreans praise beyonce... we just need to give them a chance to open up to the world, i'm pretty sure the rest of the world is racist against cultures that they feel alienated against too...

  • @Randomskee oh and hey Big Bangs major influence was hip hop, they were influenced by jay-z and usher, one of the members said they liked ray charles' music :P

  • i thought the video is funny and i am black you can't just complain how the media portrays us it's up to us to show them different and anyone else that the media has fooled.

  • no I don't think it is racist because I think everyone dresses up like someone or something. Maybe the Korean women find black women attractive and they want to be like them just like in US some black girls act white, some white girls act black, some people want to be asian or latino.

  • those damn racist bugs!!!

  • @bushman77 Animals can be racist also?

  • Comment removed

  • The clip @ the end....the only thing I was a little annoyed with was the hair styles, & yes I know our people can have some crazy funky hairstyles (I.E: Busta Rhymes back in the 90s) but most of us don't. I just wish African Americans could be better portrayed in foreign countries =/

  • huxtable......

  • I believe you're the ignorant one You say you get stared at because you're black? What if I a white boy got lost and wandered into compton or harlem? I would get stared at too, and probably at lot worse then that. You are black you do not have to worry about physical assualt only your emotions and your feelings being hurt, cause you can fix your state of mind but when something physical happens to you then it's no coming back from that its a done deal. You're the new unkown person remember that.

  • @trollornot2troll I hate to tell you but your comment is ignorant. Did you actually listen to what she said?

  • @trollornot2troll, I know your trying to understand. However, You're part of the problem because of Ignorance and Fear. I don't know that much about Compton, but I'm sure people in Compton have seen, touched, and talked to white people before. So, that example holds no merit. Secondly, THERE ARE LOTS OF WHITE PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN HARLEM. President Clinton's Office (That he works from almost everyday, ) is in Harlem NY. Your peers are Mis- Educating you, And that's part of the problem in America..

  • The bugs are welcoming you to 한국 (Korea) :P

  • i kept scratching watching this. ATTACK OF THE BUGS lol

  • this video is about bugs attack, not being an african american in korea LOL

  • dude, i totally understand what you mean about the stares you get! I went to visit my dad there over the summer and places like the subway or mall, I could see people stared all the time. the funniest reaction I got was from a 2 year old on the train. he had bumped into my leg and looked up. His eyes got so wide, and he started slowly backing away toward hisdad. at first i was hurt, but then my dad explained it to me that i was probably the first black person he'd ever seen. now i just laugh ^_^

  • Requests to touch Skin and Hair by Less Aggressive Cultures IS NORMAL. The request is more likely to come from Women and Children. Because, Their the most curious and Least Intimidating. So, if they ask, LET THEM.. Remember You're in their Country. Not America. This is part of The Human Learning Process. By touching, and asking question, The peoples of the Country you are in are getting to KNOW YOU. Not only as an Individual, but also as a representative of a group they have never seen before..

  • @commonman80 especially if you go there with braids in your hair... like me ^_^ and i completely agree

  • @oreo713, Thanks. I'm a "Black" American, and when I first started to Travel overseas to other Countries I first started with a Chip On My Shoulder because of what "White" Americans had told me about people in those Countries. However, I said I was just going to be myself, and if they don't like me I wont go back. I found as I went to these Countries, Almost EVERYTHING "White" Americans said about them was wrong. I've been to Korea, Japan, Germany, and Russia.

  • @commonman80 You are right, everything they said is pretty much wrong. When i went places, i didnt have a chip on my shoulder though. my dad was military so he definatly went places. most important thing he ever taught me was that some not everyone, regardless of race, will like you. but never assume that they will hate you until THEY prove it to you ^_^

  • Miss Charlyse. you truely look gorgeous. Thanks for your vid. I hope that you have enjoy your stay at Korea.

  • When an African American enters other Nations, you MUST be willing to Answer The Peoples of that Nations question Honestly and WITHOUT A CHIP ON YOU SHOULDER. Because The People OF that Nation have no Real Idea of what goes on in America. If they ask you about your features, You explain to them Honestly how your features (May) have been created. Don't just avoid the subject. Remember, THE PEOPLE OF THAT NATION DO NOT KNOW AMERICAN HISTORY. Continued:

  • they wanted to look like blacks cause the original singer was black? maybe it can be funny to korean eyes , but if blacks or whites had done the same for them , they would be offended surely

  • I've watched 2 videos with African American Women in them who traveled to Asian Countries. What I find disturbing is, the attitudes Both African American Women have. Elaboration: Both these African American women are going into these Asian Countries with "Great White Hunter" Mentalities. Meaning they are CLEARLY brainwashed by White American Ideology. When you enter someone else's Nation, You MUST forget everything you were taught as an African American. Because IT'S PROBABLY WRONG. Continued:

  • LOL I found the final video funny I'm not offended. I think their curiosity gets misinterpreted as racism. Both in Japan and Korea people would stare but always greet me warmly. They also seem fascinated by afros lol My friends in Korea loved to feel my hair haha but I don't mind they're just curious

  • HAHAHAHAaa! Oh my. (the bugs) Geez hahahaha! :D RUN! :]

  • @happydelicious This is the reason why other races dislike white people because they want to showcase how black people should be grateful to them. All in all , please hold your comment or opinion next time you feel the need to speak about black people or any other race. Bottom line . You don't know what you are talking about . Thanks

  • @Happydelicious I have a question ? Why do you think white people invented everything ? To me, that is a lie, and something you CAN'T prove or put into facts. I think its very ignorant of you to say that , and say that white people are friendly. When they are not. I want to know what world do you live in because obviously you didn't pay attention in history class in high school , or maybe your living a sheltered life. Besides , white or black .... Why are you speaking about it ?

  • WTF???

  • you should have showed the clip before talking. this so bad.

  • around the south of asia, the are a group of people who are dark.

  • Lol this cracked me up!!! I liked the bug part ONLY... Funny as hell.

  • I love how some people cry 'racist' while simultaneously assuming a whole race of people will be 'racist' and then judging them for it.

The irony is very powerful, and not lost on me.

  • The video clip of the show was Horrible.

  • from what i saw in that video..yes korean is racist...korean bugs to be exact...they attacked you...XD

  • Attention seeker. Are you going round the world promoting racism until you find the country that is the most racist. Give us peace and drop the subject.

  • even the bugs doesn't like her lol, racist bugs.

  • I'm offended only because the way they portrayed us in that clip but it's not 100% there fault because that's mainly how we portray ourselves or how America portrays us on Television... Ghetto, Crazy, Loud, which all have to do with each other but yea... these are my thoughts.

  • DAMN. All those bugs, i freak out with just one. I had a stranger in the bus kill a cockroach for me once. It was near his foot and he was near me, so i was like; PLZ STOMP ON IT!

  • idk how you're that calm with all those bugs I would have died.. right there.. just fall out on the pavement.. and die.

  • Lol, XD, those bugs were crazy.

  • Most Korean loves hip hop/etc and some of the best music is from America. So I think they are more expose to African American and are willing to learn (meet/get to know) about other people.

  • I'm Jewish and when I go to China people stare at me ALL the time... It's not racism, they are just curious. Like see the odd sports car, you will turn and look.

  • @Passerbyzff

    You're a fucking moron.

  • Many Koreans waana live in the west but they hate foreigners?? i dont get it.

  • @DAYofJUDGE115

They love white people, but hate colored people.

  • asians are xenophobic like a mohter fucker, and asians usually im sorry to say folks dont like blacks, asians want white skin, the china asian aka the jew of asia is really white, its theese white jew asian cunts that all the brown skin farmers daughter n sons want to look like , they hate burmeese, indians, cambodians, any poor brown fuckers the asians on a whole either despise or hire for cheap labour like the usa does mexicans, anyquestions niggas?

  • @sprookafook I tried to think of something to type in response to this idiotic comment of yours...but I failed. Safe to say though that your kind don't last long, so I am happy for that

  • @thesidewindersleeps why im not racist just stating the dam obvious, your a cry me a river hall mark holiday type anyways, go fuck some fried rice with duck u fuck.

  • @sprookafook lol what a degenerate... It's funny and sad at the same time. Please don't breed. Things like you breed too much.

  • @sprookafook Yea I like how you say "Asians don't like black folks". Its like your addressing the whole Asian population don't like Blacks or dark skinned people. I have a bunch of Asian friends that like black people. JS.

  • @facebooker121 i dont care if they take a 19 couric dookie monkey and out shit bono from pf changs bitch, asians dont like blacks for the most part, even africa has darkies bleaching there skin, the world has always been crazy n your a clear example ho.

  • @sprookafook you can't write, your grammar is atrocious, you have no clue what goes on outside your country. You have no idea how much many countries hate White America; etc. All this points to one thing you are a barely literate, incoherent, educationally challenged dumb red neck American.

  • @realismYHF1 what the fuck are u talking about, dud people duh dont like duh u duh outside your country. yeah fuck like my ass when it goes abroad doesnt blend in, sorry cunt im not white, but xenophobic asian cunts are really funny, when u go into aisan religeon u see huge entitlement complexs n shame bandaids, the xenophobia is just icing on the cake. so cunt keep your mouth shut on things u dont understand, ciao cunt, ciao americano.

  • @sprookafook learn English then I'll reply.

  • @realismYHF1 kunt whos waiting

  • Omg.. I am sorry but I am cracking up laughing! The bugs... ha ha.. funny!

  • It's their loss because you seem to be a smart and very beautiful girl...

  • How would you feel were a Korean man woman or man dressed as a Panther or wore an afro and Daishiki for Halloween, The last day the devil has to roam before 'All saints day. How would that portray you

  • @chiave1983 wouldn't bother me too much were they going somewhere for a costume party any other time of the year and there were Black people attending majority of the party or Not.

  • well are you wearing a perfume or being around a place and time bugs come out?

Oh there ain't no bugs on Me!

there aint' no bugs on me

  • My response to the bugs: AHHHHHH!! OMG!! AHHHH!! *smacks the vid a couple of times* When I saw the clip I immdiately thought: Creep by TLC in fact more than one hairstyle made me think of the 90s. And when I think of the 90s I always think about how close the fashion and styles in Korea were to America at the time. Oh! And the dance moves (Like Killer by Baby vox)

  • (continued) People from the horn of Africa (east) have very soft features, light skin and long soft hair! People need to educate themselves before they start stereotyping! Aish....-_-

  • Wooow in this case, I don't think they should be offended if you wore a hanbok for Halloween... I can't believe they painted their faces and acted like that...I'm shocked! 0-o and as for the comment below---- buddy, my child is half Korean and he doesn't look even 1% black...and it's not rare. I see it a lot, just open ur eyes! I'm not fully "black" but different countries (in Africa) have different features. People from The horn of Africa (east) have very soft features, light skin and long so

  • Honestly, those characteristics happen to be found commonly in black people: full lips, dark skin tone, kinky hair, etc. Just like Asians are more likely to have small eyes, flat noses, etc. The cosplaying isn't offensive. It's the suspicion that there might be racist sentiments behind that. Like the suspicion that they think those are unattractive characteristics and are making fun of them~~ But just so you know, cosplaying is an integral part of Korean comedy. Koreans dress up ALL the time.

  • I don't really find it offensive. I say they did it because they don't really have black people there to do the role.

  • baby girl, turn the cam off and get inside before those bugs eat you. >.> hell i thought it was static at one point

  • The blackface paint wasn't really offensive because they weren't trying to make black people look stupid and it was a realistic shade too. Like you said, I think they might just be curious.

  • I find that video at the end offensive, BLACKFACE! is what they call that. smh if Asians did their history, they would know the first Asians were African! That's why they asked if you were Malaysian. Most of them are dark and from Africa.

  • I GUESS THE BUGS NEVER SEEN AFRICAN DESCENT PEOPLE EITHER THERE LOL HAHAHAH LOL

  • same as my father. Anyway, the experience made me realize that people's perceptions can be influenced by their environment, their peers, and by hearsay...and not by personal experience with individuals. Its sad that we have this mechanism that makes us categorize and separate persons by color or race. I just wanted to comment on this vid.

  • ...U.S. by opening businesses in black communities put them a position where ignorance and insensitivity to the others in the community was so volatile, like during the 90's. My father had a general merchandise store in the bronx where there was a lot of crime, drugs, poverty , and the neighborhood was divided among blacks and dominicans. He didn't have the required attitude to get along with the rest of the neighborhood. When I was there, I was treated by the people there as if I was the

  • hey I'm a korean raised in NYC and I didn't grow up watching much TV, so that clip was an eye-opener. When I saw that clip, I thought, "wow, what the hell were they thinking." You know, because of the history of Korea, people have been somewhat isolated and a xenophobic consciousness developed due to the many wars/invasions, etc. That contributes to ignorance and all forms of craziness. It didn't help that the situation that many Koreans put themselves into in the

  • looks like canada,,cool

  • He's a comedian so he is not trying to portrait correctly.. he is trying to find the comedy in it by exaggerating.. if it was too real it wouldn't be funny.. I don't think it's racist

  • Racism racism racism! You know what??? A meteor should just hit earth, wipe out all species and let evolution do it all over again with only one change. All human being will be pink in color. No exceptions! Guess everyone will be happy then.

  • dont worry its 2012 all racism will ceize to exist onces this world explodes :D

  • In america i heard that asians love black people O_o

  • @PrinceNakasuki----Sheeeyitttttttttttttt. Where'd you hear THAT?!? WHO told you THAT lie!?! Show me 1 mixed black and Korean child...they're VERY rare....indeed. They tend to gravitate more towards blonde, white women's than they do black.

  • The odd thing is that this is just an observation but generally speaking Koreans like good looking people. So they would prefer good looking foreigner over ugly Korean... They are not really racist but they can be "lookist"

  • that was some serious bugs..lol I miss Korea, so real summer in South Korea. hahahaha

  • oh the irony.

  • Comment removed

  • I think that some ppl say things about another race and don't realise or care. I ran across a vid where this person said they glue on their lace wig down further and pull it back. It gives them a face lift and "CHINKY EYES". What did u just say out loud and recorded?!?! How ignorant and she was saying things like this in front of her children. I the kids use this term in school and they get in trouble, most likely she will wonder where they got this racist talk!

  • It just looks like they are having fun. I speak some spanish and make my own salsa. I also have been belly dancing for the last four years and love it. I am a multi cultural type of person that does want to wear the Traditional clothing of all cultures they are beautiful and different and have so many colors. So does that say that I am a Black woman that speaks Mexican, belly dances and O yhea I am vegetarian. No it says that I love being human and I have a open mind to love what I like.

  • black people arent the only ones with brown skin.they thought that you were from Malaysia because there are asian people of your complexion/looks there and they thought that you were asian.the bugs thing is scary...i would of run screaming.the end vid doesnt look offensive at all but they didnt have to color their skin to pretend to be black .they should of just use the darker asians for that show.i think that their skin color looking so unnatural can make be think it is offensive.

  • i dont know why many of these east asians are pretending that they dont have brown skin/darker native east asians! so they shouldnt be surprise seeing people darker than them.i have seen 100% pure thai people way way darker than you.i have seen "dark" skinned(im comparing to the pale skin ones) chinese, cambodians and etc people.therefore not everyone in korea would assume you are black when looking at you.

  • it looks like a comedy segment. from a show in korea ( kinda like livin color )

anyways, they are singing about a story of a single woman looking for a man.

and don't take offense to these things as they are just a comedy segment.

and you re right bout the things you say and they need to fix some things that they air on tv.

  • You mentioned wearing the hanbok on Halloween. Since Koreans think very strongly of their traditions I was thinking it may be considered offensive, but I'm not sure. If you present yourself in a strong gracious manner in a decent setting, you could pull it off with pride. If you are seen standing in the dress fornicating, drinking alcohol, staggering down the street, or perhaps even dirty dancing in the hanbok, then it could quickly become an offensive view.

  • Just to ad another note: I did not feel directly offended with what I saw, but I would have to hear their voice to see if they were trying to be offensive to Aretha Franklin, or just meshing some sort of pop culture craze. When it comes to ignorance, just turn the channel. There are lots of other things out there to enjoy and entertain us. Check out on youtube, "DBSK (Hero+Max) - It's Raining Men."

  • The stage makeup and performance seemed like a spoof, or gag. I would have to hear how they were actually singing the song to better determine if they were meaning to be insulting. If you think of pop culture in Korea, "It's Raining Man" (K.ver) is as popular there as it is in the states. Korean idols, parties, graduations, and even sports conventions were having skits to sing that song. You can consider it a spoof on their own pop culture. Check out DBSK's version of the song.

  • :-) you're too cute

  • I absolutely love what she's saying in this video but I can't help but laugh at the bugs!! I'm so distracted!!

  • I didn't find it that offensive. I think they were just emulating what they saw on TV( This looks like they've been watching american TV from the late 80s and 90s lol ).

  • u so cute girl

  • This chick mad sexy. Im bout to go on Priceline right now

  • I don't think they have any malicious intent I find it funny. If it was done in the states where I am I wouldn't like it.

  • you are so beautiful...

  • American dress up as Asian people all the time! We've seen it soooooo many times and it's just for costume, I didn't see anything offensive about that clip. Maybe they were dressing like TLC

  • Have you ever seen a Hispanic in S.Korea?

  • Comment removed

  • sexy

  • LOLOLOL!

  • that damn bug part made me laugh so much. sorry i know its a serious video but i just love this woman after that :)
