I just finished reading a book called 'Milkweed' and it was a sad yet beautiful book. Janusz Korczak and his children were part of the book, and when I found out he was indeed real, and not a fictional character the author made up, I was close to tears. His love for children is something a lot of people need to imitate. He is what people call a true hero. May he and his children rest in peace.
@Pankracyogame - no argument, another comment about dish washer because you saw that i am from London ( i work in academics if you know what that is), you see, you brand everyone without knowing them, its typical teenager thing , the same you do with jews and polish in UK, you see, you hate everybody, so you are very young or very stupid. Gimnazjum?
Polish Jews were great, and i miss them in Poland. I am sad to see the imperialist jews to take advantage and use polish jews as a political tool and to claim money...this is wrong! Shalom and Dzien Dobry to all
I really envy you this lack of historical knowledge...
It's a blessing not t know that polish jews organized 16 anti-polish rebelions in the East in 1939, that they kissed russian tanks (allies of Hitler at that time) when they were enetring polish cities...
That they murdered many polish soldiers and policemen, that they were main perpetrators in NKVD - murderers, torturers...
Were you saying "Korczak was great" or "polishe jews were great"... becouse you have me confused...
If you wrote about Korczak - do some more reading on him, if about polish jews do explain (apart from their treason and cruelty and snitching and turning against us n every possibleoccasion) words of german chancellor Bismarck to russian amassador: "what did God create polish jews for if not for a single reason that we have a net of devoted snitches that act against them".
@Pankracyogame polish jews were poor, man you are looking at 2,8 Million of regular people here, maybe some of them were bad. maybe some of them hated Poland, but not all of them , i am polish and my family had a lot of jewish friends, they were not some werd socialist satanist, just normal people like you and me, why you say they all colaborated with Stalin ? Yeah, some of them, but what about Polish people, how many collaborated with Stalin?? A lot! A lot more then jews...
As I was saying I envy you your lack ofhistory knowledge Moishe (?), Icek (?),Srul (?), Shmul (?)...
A lot of more polish collaborated with Stalin than jews???!
And the proof of that is that 1% jewish minority (after war) constituted 90% officials in commie Secret Service??!
( they whipped private parts of polish teen underground heros girls for hours so they could noyt have children or pulled fingernails of our hero fighters)...
@Pankracyogame lol, you just ashamed to say that most of the communist officials in Poland were polish Jaruzelski - polish, Kiszczak - polish and a lot more, you blame jews for everything, and i am sure you dont know any of jews yourself, you just repeat what someone told you, like a PZPR party apparatchik with no brain. I am no Moshe, i am polish 100% and my family show me respect to other people, if your family whip your ass and now you are angry its your problem
The children were not Zionists; they did not carry the state of Israel flag which did not even exist then. See the Wajda film, not this twisted Zionist version of the facts. He refused to wear a kippa and was not orthodox, hence the Zionist fabrications
I have just learned of this great Men and he brought tears to my eyes. How could people be so cold, and murder the innocent children with compassion. RIP TO ALL THAT DIED!!!
I first learned of Dr. Korzack back in the 1970"s.Back then not many people heard of this great man.I wish a movie would be made about him. Say Kaddish for him....
@alufa1 A movie was made, Directed by Andrzej Wajda in 1990, a magnificent polish director, also directed Katyn, a movie definitely worth watching. If only Hollywood was more focused on these kind of stories about True Heroes, not a "Hero" with a gun blowing shit up and than gets the girl at the end after killing so X amount of people. My opinion, Hollywood's "Role Model Hero's" need a make over into "True Human Heros" of greater values than Muscles and a Big Gun. Wouldn't you say?
absolutely love this...Korzcak was such an amazing man, i'm proud to say we're performing "Korzcak's Children" at our school this year and it's changed my whole view on the Holocaust.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful video of one of my favorite heroes. The world needs more people like the Old Doctor - and more people need to know his story. Another haunting image is the performance of Tagore's "The Post Office" in the Ghetto orphanage. Your music is haunting and beautiful.
one more legend says that the children was singing during the last walk. But that's just a legend. Children was exhausted and Korczak was petrified because of their soon death. He was talking to himself "why? why? why?" He loved those kids as his own.
In Izrael, France and other countries, there are still some people, who remember Dr. Korczak. Dr Goldszmit. They can see his big and good eyes looking after them during their childhood.
it could be true that they were singing. and i don't know if this is accurate or not, but in the play "Korzcak's Children" which we're rehearsing for right now at my school, we walk off stage with Korzcak tell us a story about a place called Planet Ro.
hey, tori! i found u! yeah, this play we're doing is so sad. its incredible that this is a true story. the play is really amazing. the ironic thing is, the play is pretty funny during a time of war. thats what makes it special.
i agree, it's REALLY sad but extremely inspiring. it has the perfect touch of humor too. Big Hannah seriously is weird though...but she's so fun to play lol
oh awesome. korczak has a TON of lines....john, they guy who's playing him, is doing a fantastic job with it though and he's only had the script for a month or so!! marcel is such a cute part :) has a tiny love scene with eva. it's adorable! good luck with the casting! i forget who abrasha is.
There is one more legend bout Korczak. When the SS oficcer saw him going with the children to the train he asked who is this courage man and Salute.
P.S I`m Polish don`t believe this stories bout our anthisemithism , example my city - Lodz 40% of population before war had been jewish and we lived in piece
Thank you for creating this beautiful media piece. I honored Janusz Korczak with an annual student award based on volunteerism with children... and this video will add to my lesson with the students. Thank you again.
This had made me cry. I heard that in Yad Vashem for all the children hho were killed in the holocaust, where there are a few candles with mirrors on both sides, and while you walk through the memorial, you hear the names of all those poor children who died. Touching, and the music goes well with this. Beautiful.
ive been lucky enough to put on the stage production and its extreamly moveing for the audience but more for the cast who feel the lives of the children when on stage. on the last night of the production all the cast cryed in the last number, sheer emotion for korczakand his children
