  • I have never, ever seen a letter drill (I have a 150 drill bit set and find it confusing when a plan calls for using a letter bit, such as when I am in a shop building a model steam engine, I am using the bits required in the plans to drill certain holes; numbered bits to fractional and having to go from utilizing numbered and fractional bits, easily to running into a required lettered bit is both confusing and frustrating because I don't have lettered bits in my arsenal of drill bits.

  • Tog, The letter drills are in between the fraction drills, starts at .234 or 15/64 - just right for getting a little bigger hole but not too big. If you really want to get carried away you can add metric drills. Get a good decimal equivalent chart and then you can tell where you're going.
