in order to keep her alive you have to get the psg1 before you go into the room with psycho mantis, kill sniper wolf while meryl is still there then not submit the the torture. Then she will survive. i of course went back and got the psg1 and when i got back she was gone. plus an easy way to beat the torture is to take a knex piece or a stick with a knob on the side and to take that and put it in a drill and put it on the x button or whatever and vary your speed.

@thefear900 you don't need the psg1 before sniper wolf to save her, if you resist the torture she is still alive at the end of the game.

Why in the world am I seeing, if you give up in the torture room, why the hell would you give up, thats the most involved part of the game, it gives your hand a great workout, why would anyone submit, your a sad, lazy player if your willing to give up and not fight for meryl.

besdies, enclosure should rightly be atributed to sniper wolf; it's played there first, but plays with meryl in an 'optional' false ending

meh, meryl's in MGS4, so her death's a false ending to give you the stealth cameo; while in real ending you get the infinite ammo sash..

if u give up in the torture scenen meryl WILL DIE trust me ive tested it myself im a MGS veteran and she will die if u give up no matter how fast u beat liquid. he just says "if u beat me in time she will live* (sumthin along those lines) just 2 up the suspense of the fight

Meryl doesn't die if you give up on the torture chamber, it was the right ending when you leave with Otacon, I quote when Liquid and Snake were about to fight, Liquid specifically said that "When this timer goes off Meryl WILL DIE". So that means when you defeat Liquid in time then that means Meryl is in fact still ALIVE whether giving up in the torture room or keep going and leaving with Meryl instead

well actually no. sorry but trust me ive tried this and tested this so many times. if u give up on the torture SHE WILL DIE no matter how fast u beat liquid. ive beaten him in less than 1:30 an she still dies

In Metal Gear Solid 1 you go through a torture; If you submit. She dies. If you make it through; She lives.
