  • That looks good, but how do I get the stupid door out first? I can't seem to get it high enough to clear the tracks and lift it out.

  • @TheJVRMAN Try looking up top, I think newer doors may have a "child proof" type set up there. Anything you see up there that looks adjustable or removable? There also may be a "sweet spot" where the door will ONLY pop out if it's in that spot. Hope this helps.

  • Thank you for your reply. I will try your suggestions.

  • Would you be able to tell me how to fix the tracks on those type of doors? Or where I can buy the tracks. I have gone to hell and back and still cannot find anyone that sells those tracks.

The problem with the tracks on my doors is that the people that lived here before me ran over them with a 2 wheeler while taking out a refrigerator, smashing the track. I straightened them out as best as I can, but they are so lumpy, they keep ruining the wheels on the door. Thank you.

  • @Leotron6 I'm not sure what to tell you. If you can't straighten the track I'd suggest maybe checking out window & door shops. There are allot around and that's what they do best. I got my parts from a Ma and Pa type window & door shop. Maybe also keeping an eye on places like Craigslist for people giving away patio doors and such.

Sorry I can't be much more help, if I think of something I'll shout back at ya!

    Thanks for coming by!

  • Dude clean your house, damn

  • @rstacyusa Dude... it's his garage.

  • @fidemchristo Thanks, I was just about to say the same thing.

  • @rstacyusa Dude that was my garage/shop and the sliding door is in the mud room.... the mud room's job is to get dirty so the house can sit back and have a beer.

    Thanks for stopping by!

  • Thank you!

  • @whoapower Your welcome and thanks for coming by and commenting!

  • Very good video, going to do this and help a friend. Thank you

  • @teriw56 Hope it went well and thanks for the great comment!

  • I'm scared but I'm gonna try it. Fingers crossed! Thanks for the video.

  • @timbotantrum Good luck!! Well, it's been 3 months so it's a little late to wish you luck... How did it go would be more the appropriate thing to ask.

Hope it went well and you're welcome.

  • Thanks, Saved me a bunch.

  • @MrEdna182 Your welcome, thanks for the comment!

  • Great video. How heavy are one of these doors? Will I need another person to lift it out and put it back in?

  • @ptpop They aren't exactly very heavy, they are more awkward then anything. If you put a piece of carpet or something below the door and lift it and swing it out towards you and let it come down on the carpet you can play around with it to see if you are comfortable with them. If not, a friend is never a bad Idea to have handy.

Thanks for dropping by and commenting!

  • @ptpop having one wieghs about 200 pounds estimated so yah 2 ppl

  • @Turkeyx9 Nowhere near that my friend, your average patio door is about 50 lbs or less.

  • Thanks very much for the video. You just saved me a lot of repair money.

  • @kayakertim Very welcome, glad I could help!!

I'll take my usual 10% of the savings... you did read the fine print didn't you? LoL

Take care, thanks for the comment!!

  • REMOVE OLD WHEELS AND TAKE EM TO THE STORE WITH YOU (hopefully all caps will save someone an extra trip). there's a few different styles and sizes...Perfect procedure, worked great, and only about 14.00 in US. Thanks OP!

  • @phlynhi That's what i did, had to wait a week while they were on order but yes, saves multiple trips indeed.

Thanks for dropping by and commenting!

  • Yay! My patio door is fixed. I am a 38 year old mother who was tired of getting up to push open the door whenever the kids wanted to go out. I found your video, struggled a bit to get the door out while my kids asked a zillion questions ( all stemming around why I didn't wait for dad to get home and was I crazy), got the roller assemblies out, bought new ones (Lowes), popped them in, struggled to get that door back on it's track, and it rolls!! It's a 11 year problem solved!! Thank you!

  • @ssourbes You're very welcome. Ya, I should of included in my video removing and replacing the doors itself.. Maybe I'll do one just for that. Glad I could help your through it though!!

    Thanks for the comment!!

  • thanks so much for this. My husband and I are VERY grateful. We would never have figured this out on our own. Our door had slight differences but overall it was much the same as the one in the video.

  • @mcparker2011 Very glad I could help you through it!!! .

Thanks for dropping by and commenting!

  • Thanks much! I never would have figured out how to get the rollers out without breaking something. Great vid, awesome info.

  • @humanrightslover1 You're very welcome, thanks for the comment!

  • Great video!!

I took out the sliding door and sprayed some WD-40 on the back roller that was sticking. My sliding door is working fine now. thanks!

  • @MixtapeTube Some times thats all they need... a little lube and they good to go!

    Thanks for commenting!!

  • Man, thanks alot for making this. It helped me a bunch se3mi-repairing mine. Now if they sell replacement rollers, I'm set

  • @force245 Make sure you bring one with you to get an exact match. I did mine through a small door and window store. Took a week or so while they ordered them but much cheaper then the big stores.

Glad i could help, sorry for the late reply, been working night for the last 6 months.... been quite the zombie. Hope by now your doors are sliding freely!!! Thanks for the comment!

  • Thank you so much for posting these! It's stressful doing something like this for the first time, but after watching your videos, I had it done in no time. My husband was surprised to come home and find that project we kept saying "needed to be done at some point" was suddenly taken care of. Where did you get your rollers from, though? I'm in Canada, too and I bought the same kind of roller you used, but it was $18 per roller plus tax.. I went to Rona- maybe Home Depot would be cheaper.

  • @kclutchey Sorry for the late reply, been working night for the last 6 months.... been quite the zombie.

So glad I could help you through it!! Ya, I got my wheels from a local door and window store rather then one of those big box stores. Much cheaper cuz you're not paying for thousands of employees and buildings and hydro, and, and,an.d... lol

Thanks for taking the time to comment!

  • good video!i have a sliding glass doors that would like to use but i dont have rails where could i find rails?

  • @JohnnyDesaint Not sure, i would try a windows and door shop (specifically). If they don't have, they may be able to point you in the right direction. Ebay or even Craigslist too, you may see someone getting rid of their whole unit or just tracks.

If you find them, make sure they are either the RIGHT measurements or longer cuz you can always cut them to suit but they don't stretch very well. :c)

  • Great Work and one of the best explaned just saved my afternoon!!

  • @penanoable Thank you for watching AND commenting, much appreciated. I am glad I could save your afternoon!!!

  • how' did you get the doors off in the first place? I'm on step 0, lol.

  • @spiltbluhd LoL, ya... I didn't realize that I never covered removing it. Basically it is the opposite of putting it back. All ya gotta do is grab the door on each side then lift up the door (it will lift the wheels off the track) and swing the bottom of the door towards you. Then just let it sit on the floor (on a towel if you have nice floor or carpet) and that will give you the room to swing the top out.

Hope that helped, feel free to ask if you need more help with anything.

  • Great video!

  • @BLACKWINGEDBEING Thanks, and thanks for taking the time to comment!

  • @jsj297 Great to hear it!!! Now, about that 10% on all cash saved clause (I'm guessing you didn't read the fine print... heh heh heh) I accept cash, cash and of course.... cash LoL

Seriously though.. glad i could help!

  • I always put off house repairs til my wife forces me to fix it. I'm glad I found your video because I fixed my sliding glass door before she really yelled at me. The video was great and very informative. Thanks!!!

  • I just wanted to say thanks, my wife and I were getting ready to spend a few bucks and buy a new set of doors. I bought new wheels and drilled the old rivets, removed the old wheels , and installed new with provided hardware. Thanks again

  • WoW, haven't been here in a bit, over 1000 views! Ya I know, it's not much when compared to others but it's a mile stone to me!

THANKS EVERYONE FOR CHECKING MY VIDS!

  • THANK YOU this kind of video is so helpful, a reality video on how to repair.... I think it may save my friend a lot of money just to fix the existing door !!

  • @maudiouser Your welcome. So glad I could help. Ya, people in general are not aware just how easy these doors can be fixed up to almost new for very little money and not a hell of alot of skill required.

  • thank you very much

  • You are very welcome red23mj, glad I could help you!!

    Take care, come back anytime!!

  • hell ya thanks man

  • good info bud now i can fixs mine because it opens hard as hell thanks

  • Thanks, depending on your hardware store (and how old or new your doors are) the hardware store may carry the wheel sets. BRING ONE WITH YOU

  • ooops, hit a wrong button and posted early. As I said, bring a wheel set with you to compare so you can make sure it is the right one.

The hardware store didn't have mine so I went to a windows and doors type store. They didn't have 1 in stock (my doors about 40 years old), so they had to order in so I had to wait about a week (little less).
