This concerto is so awesome! Such a wonderful orchestration to accommodate such a demanding solo part. The violin blends with the orchestra so well, creating a new world of sound I'm not used to hearing in the classical music repertoire...even for modern works.
The brainpower and discipline it takes to perform and memorize such a piece is a true achievement for Josefowicz. Salonen is a force to contend with as well. No wonder this is winning so many composition prizes. A true achievement. Bravo
Such a lonely world! This kind of advanced music, yes, advanced (!) not compared to hip hop or pop music, but to 19th century's classical stuff, is hard to come across! i followed Leila's work after i saw her Bruch's work and found this concerto! is it me or we, the enthusiasts of the more recent classical music are totally ODD BALLS!! Enough complaining! Let’s consume and enjoy what we have the taste for, namely hard core classical music! Such a loneliness, let's move to Denmark or something.
@markzemusic It does. I think this person mistook the word "movement" for "part." The piece is about half an hour long, and the end of the second video has the end of the fourth movement, so all four movements are in these two videos. :)

Holy butt.

What's the orchestra? Clearly not in Disney Hall!
And Leila Josefowicz is astounding in playing more notes than there probably have ever been in a nonkeyboard concerto from memory.

I've seen Salonen and Josefowicz playing this concerto in Italy with Mahler Orchestra. It was astonishing!
