I had this version of vertibird, too. I was in the 4th grade at the time. Would love to see a vintage commercial showing this. Anyway, I remember thinking that this was a rather generous gift. I just rolled up on this video..I was about your age here in this vid and I got got the same Ship Vertibird..I also had the resue station and the original one..best game ever.
More or less decoration. They had no real substance and wanted to almost cave in when sat on. Vinyl covered on the outside and pure classic. Those things just screamed 60's, 70's.
Wow! I never thought a big hunk of styrofoam could bring back such memories. Those were the days!
