  • SUPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love it!

  • Well, I finally found the music for this.... Im gonna see if I can get the bones at the University to play this.

  • I hear just one bone out of place in this video. Its just one that can't seem to keep up with the rest of the others in high chops...

  • lol. im in 8th grade. we played undertow and we had a gliss for a full measure. it was nothing but trombones and it gave me shivers down my neck. i love my trombone but i need to step up to a trigger... :/

  • @wahappun yeah i got my trigger my 8th grade year. theyre pretty beast

  • @ThearthgodsROX Yeah over the summer going into 9th grade i got my trigger;) i love it.

  • its called "Boneweek Fanfare III" by Brad Edwards

  • No, it doesn't.

For your information, the players in the SSO received their degrees from the New England Conservatory, Juilliard and Northwestern University. Their teachers were some of the best players in the world.

You can argue the quality of the students who are filling in on the parts - this is an eight-part piece, after all - but even if this is a run-through, I didn't hear too many clams.

So, once again, no, it doesn't.

  • ...not so good, some of those people do not need to be on first part, Dr. Edwards deserves better than this for a premier.

  • I'm not sure I'd go as far as your comment, but I'd be very surprised if this recording is the actual premiere performance. It looks and sounds like a warm-up/rehearsal. The bearing of the players, and the lack of excitement, or even interest sure smacks of low key rehearsal.

  • Only two players are playing the first part in this performance. One is the principal of the SSO. This is an eight-part piece.

  • First off.. i'm a sax player by nature.. but i've always loved the trombone and euphonium. I was finally inspired by this performance to get a trombone and beat the technique into my head, which is really easy if you have a "it's just an odd shaped sax with a brass mouthpiece and slide" mindset. I've recruited 9 other trombonists and will be performing this at my highschool next year. [inner excitement]

  • i am an old t-vone player for many years although i haven't played in around 10 years. i'm convinced it is the most magnificent instument. together like this in a choir sends cold chills with some of those rich chords...like in the middle and end of this piece.

  • this is the best trombone choir ive ever heard

  • Wrong. Check outanything from the CSU trombone choir. The intonation, balance and technique is much better.

  • Bravo! What a wonderful sound. I don't know what this piece is, but right off hand it sounds like part of the soundtrack of an epic western. Is it just me or does it evoke feelings reminescent of a magnificent western?

At any rate, it was a great sound. People hear parts of movie soundtracks all the time without realizing that they're listening to an all-trombone choir. Being a former T-bone player myself, I do, but the majority of people are just not aware(or care for that matter!). It's true.

  • International Trombone Week was originated by the International Trombone Association earlier this decade. It takes place in April of each year. Brad Edwards has written five fanfares to commemorate it. He is the trombone instructor at the University of South Carolina. Personally, I think only No. 2 and No. 3 are really programmable, and they're the only ones our choir has performed.

  • this is a really fun piece. it explores all the aspects of the trombone I'm doing it at my high schools concert. Recommend it

  • Whats the name of this piece?

  • there is such a thing as international trombone week? that's pretty cool

do they have one for every instrument?

  • This is a great performance of this week...the trombone choir I'm a member of has performed this on a couple of occasions. We're not quite the SSO, but we like to think we're getting there.

  • that was really good. :) im a chord person and i belive trombones have the best sound when they make chords. :) too bad my school doesn't have good enough trombones.

  • too bad i dont have that many trombones in my school. let alone people good enough.

  • well i stand alone as the only trombone in my entire school :(

  • Well, I've never seen a band of any size with only 1 trombone, but if it were me it would make me practice that much harder since it is your responsibility to carry much of the low brass. Technically the T-bone is a tenor. And it is the ONLY tenor brass instrument in the band. The only other instrument in this catagory is the euphonium which is a baritone(slightly lower tone). You must be playing 1st part since you're the only one. This is harder, too. Practice hard and be the best you can be!

  • Thanks :)

  • Ach, I'm stuck being the only 'Bone in the Orchestra in my Highschool. It kinda sucks. But wow! that is a very nice trombone section they have!

  • I was the last trombone to leave my middle school. Two years later, however, they gained three. I'm glad, too, because our high school's going to need them!

  • my school is doin this for solo and ensemble...it sounds even better when ur playin it

  • same here

  • I'd like to know what the piece is

  • the piece is brad edwards boneweek fanfare III.. available through his website bonezone dot com..

  • Any way of getting this music?
