This gives me the chills everytime I watch this. This is why I have great respect for my beloved Red Wings. One of the most greatest moments in sports history. Period.
i cant watch this without crying i was at Yzermans retirement game in '07 and have met him on more than one occasion my dad does a lot of dental work for the wings and when this happened i was about 8 but thats a standup guy handing that cup off to konstantinov and im glad they had his name engraved on the cup i like to think the team won it for him what a great enforcer he is up there with mccarty and probert god bless him and his family
@NJNcomedy The player in the wheelchair was in an accident; he could never play hockey again. Detroit kept him as a player, and put his name on the Stanley Cup (also letting him do a lap with it). They still have a locker set up for him.
It was a terrible accident, and really shows how classy this organization is. he won his own cup with them outright too the year before.
this is why ive always liked stevie more than wayne, mario or any other greats. not saying they wernt classy. but steve yzerman took it to another level that night and his entire time with detroit. read proberts book to see what type of teamate stevie was. this is easily one of my favorite sports moments. and i love how the capitals start shaking vlads hand starting at 1:48. pure class by yzerman though.
there's something about class that is so heart warming. The capitals paying respects to Konstantinov is a perfect example of above and beyond class. A tiny little act, but sometimes those are the most revealing of true human decency.
I was only about 5 years old when this happened, but it's one of the moments that stuck with me. I was real little, and my mom explained to me what had happened to Vladimir. Watching Yzerman hand him the Cup was an amazing moment.

This is the classiest thing I have ever seen done by a team for a player! I loved Vladdy, he was a terminator!

I'm not a Flames fan, not a Wings fan, but damn their fans and organization defines classy.

I almost cried when the Cup got handed to Vlad the Impaler. He deserved it as much as any of them.
