Tangerine Dream isn't Mozart. But they seem to be the result of being young German hippies who didn't forget their classical influences... especially after Pink Floyd set the stage (but didn't bring in classical influences, but blues)... and the guys in Tangerine Dream figured out before 1970 that they suck on guitar and drums, and found the synth. This band had to be, and I love them for doing it so well.
This excerpt looks like a remake by themselves just with subtle changes and some pad decorations, Tangerine Dream the long time synth pionneer also inventing new-age? this first part seems even more smooth like this.
Do you know, I just cannot decide which is my favourite TD album. It's either this, Exit or White Eagle. I do like Tangram for its two part formula, however I love White Eagle and Exit for their set pieces of driving synth. Maybe Tangram is that perfect balance between the old 70's long instrumentals and the 80's tightness of structure, textures and dynamic feel. Whatever, I love Tangerine Dream.
@NarcissistsDie "Maybe Tangram is that perfect balance between the old 70's long instrumentals and the 80's tightness of structure, textures and dynamic feel." That was so well put NarcissistsDie! A splendid way to describe two of the best 'eras' of Tangerine Dream.
Did you know that the main sequence is actually the same as that on Force Majeure (after the steam train/gong) but slowed down. Took me many re-listens to figure it out.
I dont usually like the changes TD makes to their original albums. This is subtle exception...it is beautiful. Thankyou Wangobro for this. I'd like to hear more of this version though.
After all these years, still is beautiful !!!!

Tangram was always my favorite TD record. Among the best electronica music, but let's not go crazy. Bach? Mozart? Please.
