@retreat112 I was more talking about having sex with someone who's say, 18. That would be against the law and the 18 year old (whoever it may be) would go to jail if anyone found out about it and it doesn't matter how I felt. It's about how the government feels about the situation.
I love the lyrics. I know this isn't a very popular thing to say but I actually feel very sorry for pedophiles, they have hard lives. That's what this song is about.
@Idnarmadur I feel sorry for them too and I'm 13. I hate being a "child" because the law doesn't allow me to do the things I want to do until I'm 18 and I don't find it to be fair. I feel just as sexually matured as anyone else and have the same needs.
@tokoyoe I think you're missing a point somewhat. These people are ill. Not all of them act on their urges, but those who do are of course a danger. We still don't understand how the human brain works, as each one is unique. If we did, there would likely be no crimes anymore, as we would have the means to cure neurological disorders and disabilities.
powerfull lyrics somehow brings me back to highschool the queen of the school treating all the other girls like shite eventually she realize how empty and so alone. maybe a bit like the lyrics
this song is so good it makes me disgusted... like the whole pedophile thing the way she sings it makes me sick to my stomach. this is why i love the knife
@JaimeStrikesAgain I readed one time that Kino talks too about pedophiles, but I still don't understand why. I Just Had To Die have an more direct lyric about the theme.
@adrianovaz2008 Hehe, personally, I think Kino is about letting yourself being used, because you are in love with the person that is using you. But that's just how I interpretate it anyway, by listening/reading the lyrics. What do you think about it? I like hearing other opinions and interpretations of songs, hehe. :)

Sounds to me more like she's giving two perspectives, the perpetrator and the victims. The lines are mixed up to not make it so clear.
SniffoYnkPynk 5 months ago
@retreat112 The last lines are a direct borrow/reference from Springsteen's "I'm On Fire", also covered by Bat For Lashes (both great songs).

@FatherAcid that's exactly why you have to be taken care of by the government. you will understand when you grow up.

@FatherAcid Yeah, you're a 13 year old child. I believe you. Hahahahaa. Great song. The Knife once again is challenging and refreshing.

@Idnarmadur wtf. pedophilia is so wrong. Shit, just cause a song was written about it, doesnt make it right.

I haven't found an explanation for this song yet, except for the pedophile part. What does she mean by "I just had to die"?

This song pays homage to Bruce Springsteen and his song "I'm on Fire"... and in that song he inadvertently references the knife with his lyrics:
"Sometimes it's like someone took a knife baby"

This song isn't about a very happy topic... theres definitely a pedophile character shes singing from. A few Knife songs have dark topics.

@FluorescentMAAIKE Good interpretation, really sounds like being used by someone... But this using maybe refers exactly about sexual abusing.
adrianovaz2008 1 year ago
@FluorescentMAAIKE to bad this isn't kino or else that comment would have been relevant.
Nihilist00 1 year ago
@JaimeStrikesAgain I seriously doubt that it's about pedohilia. that seems a little to directly interpreted, when i read the lyrics.
