  • The lady on bass, has a really weird voice....just kidding I know it's that Jewish guy Gary, LOVE RUSH, GREATEST BAND ON EARTH.

  • musicianship at its best... Love these guys.

  • saw em in tacoma wa 76 what a rush

  • Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Love this, I wish somebody could produce a complete package of some old school Rush like this, to bad Rush never recorded some good versions concerts like this, man do I love Rush!!!

  • I remember this performance. I watched it on tv on a saturday night. I'm guessing 73-74 I was about 14 and I was hooked to 70s rock. This kicks ass baby!

  • Rush needs to find its way to the Rock & Roll HOF!

  • That song is a Heavy Metal 70's, and that is Awesome!

  • I was 12 years old in '76. I remember 2 things from that year. The bi-centennial, and I discovered RUSH. Big year for me. You and I know you're right, any RUSH fan can see that's Neil, the spinning sticks are obvious even without seeing him. Continue to educate the wannabe's, and congrats for having awesome taste! Wish we could have another 30+ years!

  • oooooooooooooooo yea!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Need further proof? Check at 4:02- 4:07

You are talking to a Rush fan since 1976!!

  • John Rutsey was on the studio version... but not here!

  • John Rutsey was their first drummer.

  • What's amazing is that when this video was taken the guys were probably not even 30. I saw them at Quicken Loans Arena for the Time Machine tour in April and they can STILL bring it just like this and they are now pushing 60! RUSH FOREVER!!!!!!

  • great song

  • My dad got me into Rush, amazing.

  • Best part of song @ 1:34!

  • I love seeing their early stuff. no band can compare. The crap bands try to pass off as music today is almost shameful

  • Alex Lifeson- Most under rated guitarist in Rock and Roll.

Geddy Lee- Bass Master of the universe.

    Neil Peart- God.

  • @ohYew812 that wasn't Neil Peart in this video it was their first drummer

  • @IAmtheBallrus Wrong. Better check again at 1:48. Thats Mr. PEART!

  • John had health issues and the doc said the tour would kill him, so neil replaced him for the tour beginning in the summer of 74.

  • @barnabas50 Amazingly with his drinking habit and diabetes John survived until 2008.

  • WOW what a great video. We Rush fans have been waiting for this stuff. Awsome

  • Thanks guys for 512,074 views!!!

  • 13 people couldn't find their way out of a wet paper bag!

  • 13 people need to turn their speakers up!

  • Its just music lol dont take it to far suckers

  • I like rock , but wats annoying is how people praise some bands like their god etc, get off their dicks fucking fanatics theyre rich while u extreme fanatics are still poor or middle class

  • @ANARCHYGOD2012

says the guy who lives in his parents basement

  • @ANARCHYGOD2012 This has nothing to do with frkn fame or fortune. People are fanatics about certain bands like rush because of their music. It's not about the damn money when it comes to playing music and if that's the case, then that person(s) don't deserve to play music. Rush only plays cause of the passion for music and joy of it.

  • a very led zeppelinesque song by rush

  • john rutsey on drums? early footage fer sure...great energy...love the band!!

  • @VcrRocker That'll be Neil on the drum kit.

  • @34lespaul It is john rutsey on drums. their first album was without neil

  • @lbarto88 I'm not disputing who the drummer was on Rush's first album. That WAS John. This VIDEO has Neil Peart playing drums. Pretty obvious throughout the video (listen to his triplets) and there is pretty good segments where you can see Neil plainly. Definitely very early for Neil.

  • @lbarto88 John was canned in July of '74 after the album was released. This Don Kirshner Rock Concert performance was taped in October of that year with Neil.

  • And thus the seeds of immortality were sewn. This video is a gem! I don't care what anyone says...that is a fucking great rock voice!

  • i love the fact that geddy lee was hammered at this concert.

  • Ozzy still rocking.. Aerosmith too..

  • I hope that any young band that watches this video will take from this account that this is the way to take those first steps to stardom. Rush are your teachers.

  • u can see how awesome geddy's voice is in this video he has the power

  • Tom Hanks on drums, HE-MAN on lead guitar, and Yoko Ono on bass and vocals. I love Rush.

  • @MusicIsDeadToday LOL! that comment made my day...

  • @asusinx Good!(: Rush kicks fucking ass!

  • @MusicIsDeadToday That comment makes you Dead.

  • @idontgiveaflyingtoss Canadians lost their humor long ago huh?

  • @bozolazic Hahaha (;

  • ke wea callampa led zeppelin... RUSH la LLEAAAAAA

  • I got this song almost done

  • its like fck im not tryin to hate fuck . everything i fuckin say everything i say man well fuck you no what im sayin well fuck you and everthing you say

  • some douchebag in billionois blocked me from posting about SECRET TOUCH...

    nonetheless

    i remember...

hearing Rush play this at pine knob/dte

    back in the day...

a decade ago, omg i'm old!

yet venues have ridiculous times still with egress

  • rip geddy lee why couldn't the guy from dream theater have died instead of you

  • @BOKNOWSCOMPUTERS Why did you scare me? Geddy is still very much alive!!! Bad joke!

  • Geddy Lee back then kind of looks like Weird Al Yankovic today.

  • Pure Rock Ambrosia(tm).

  • Really, there are dislikes on this? Rather amazing.

  • GEDDY IS SUCH A BADASS!!

  • @taraskovaliv GEDDY IS SUCH A FUCKASS!!

  • Geddy and the 4001 Ric...I wonder how much you could get a brand new one for back in 1974. $1500 - $1600 for a 4003 these days. Still a great instrument, but those 4001's are highly coveted collectibles in large part to the talents of the time who were exclusively playing that particular model: Chris Squire. Paul McCartney, wielding the 4001c64s. My main man Geddy up there. He's played Fender, Ric, Wal,Steinberger - but his '72 Fender Jazz just crushes with that larger than life growl.

    w00t?

  • I photographed Rush in 74 and 77. To see the shots go to ianmarkmusicphotos (.com)

  • @Spm1021 SHUT THE HELL UP,and if you hate rush so much, why are you whatching their videos

  • Thanks for posting! RUSH is so underrated :)

  • Belíssimo!!!

  • don't understand what you're talking about but...

    long life Old School!!!

  • Oh yeah this is definitely the 70's

  • MOAR COWBELL!!

  • The thing that never fails to amaze me as that these 3 guys, who are in need of some deep hair conditioning treatment, can produce and perform this level of sheer rock to absolute perfection as this very early track shows. Look at Neal Peart towards the end, Geddy's bass and vocals are outstanding and Alex... Just excellence .. Rush .. Just the Best. Forever.

  • lifeson used to be so thin

  • @skydog69zoso He used to actually move around on stage as well.

  • You obviously can't read because i said they used synths but what you don't understand is the computer didn't do the work, they played keyboard. And you really can't seriously say they weren't original. They are probably the most creative rock group ever.

  • so are you saying that spirit of radio wasnt made using synths...`//////??those are computers dudette...case closed..hyposritz

  • @spm1021 it isn't called computer generation. They used a lot of keyboard and synth. They played instruments, computer generated means the computer made the music, which is false. You don't only know nothing about music, but I have a feeling you are just stupid.

  • @nisonm1 maybey stupid but not stupid enough to spend any dough watching these canadien drug dealers with all their computer backup...they remind me of total tecmo...i gave them a try in like 1998 and walked out after like 16 minutes...too loud and just not that original. every fricken rush song sounded like news kids or wham ramped up...

  • @spm1021 wow you're an idiot

ill let this guy prove it to you though

  • @RUSHSUCKS1000 what the hell?

  • I HOPE RUSH FINDS THERE WAY OFF THE STAGE, PREFERIBLY EXITING STAGE RIGHT AND NEVER GETS BACK ON THE STAGE, OR ANY STAGE!!!

  • @RUSHSUCKS1000 Hah!! What a fuckstick. You name yourself rushsucks?? Fuckin loser.

  • @notnilccm wat if we all found out they did suck

  • @10qaws go back to bed

  • @notnilccm it wasnt an insult think about it . im not messing around its like somethingu gotta think of something man

  • @10qaws Im not kidding man, go back to bed.

  • @notnilccm why do i go to bed u go to bed im just as bored as you are

  • @10qaws oh well i went ummm soppose u did to

  • Lighten up, dude!

  • Hmm, 13 Justin Bieber fans, eh?

  • @robrush54 Dont even mention that no-talent nobody on this post.

  • @jonquil4000 Justin Bieber!?!?

  • @robrush54 justin bieber at least writes his own music....unlike these record whores.

  • @spm1021 ............................................ wtf are you talking about his lyrics are shit about fucking girls and partying at least rush has lyrics with meaning and play music instead of making it on the computer and auto tuning

so don't even try to troll

  • @zackjp you the man! soooo many hide behind their monitor and act so badass! Why would beiber fans even bother with a Rush video? Stick to your own homo videos, will ya?

  • they friggin rule!!!!!!

  • I have to agree with Jack Black when he said...'it's like these guys are not even human.'

  • @cdbeckm and have alot of rocket sauce

  • My dad always gets mad when i watch this video cuz Geddy's banshee wails always break the windows in the house

  • this is one of my favorite rush songs

  • Why not in the Rock Hall of Fame?? F the Rock Hall, no credibility.

  • Rush took this world by the balls and rocked our socks off

  • Just the greatest rock band of all time.

  • wonder how many ear cells this killed :(

  • Muy buena cancion

  • rush is commonley known as the "benchmark" of rock and roll

  • Is Alex country chicken picking on this song during the lead at the beginning and end? If so, he's deviously brilliant doing this in a heavy rock band like Rush.

  • O yeaaaaaaaaaaa! O yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

  • like geddys big nose, we must be related :P

  • @supernovachaser Jews have big nose XD

  • Damn!! Those guys had awesome HAIR back then. RUSH rules.

  • Canadian talent right here BOIZZZ

  • FINDING MY WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • THIS KICKS SOOOO MUCH ASS!!!!!!!!! Brilliant band

  • Now this takes me back to a very young Rush, what amazes me is I forget that what I hear them play today was played way back in the early 70's so if these guys were as good on their instrumentsback then as they are now it baggars belief when did they actually get good in the first place or were they just gifted at birth? Awesome song, very Led Zepp sounding vocals but still distinctively Rush

  • i was headbanging and swallowed my gum!!!!! lol

  • ok !!! next ???

  • Is it just me or does this song sound very Led Zepplien esque?

  • @paulgillard7 yes it does! right to the vocals and even the hair and clothes

  • Considering the fcat that for years Geddy couldn't read music, didn't know what "keys" were and still played so intuitively and sang such absurbly great stuff it is a total marvel. Alex was an amputee for style inthe early days and became what he is through sheer hard work and perservance. Neil was always Neil - f*cking amazing at 17 in The Majority and JR Flood. After 40 years knowing these guys I never miss a chance to praise 'em. Talented, gutsy, friendly and loving. Respectable humans

  • geddy lee ftw

  • HEAD BANGER!!

  • 2011 Rush , Zeppelin , Kiss and others ...who is still rockin...RUSH

  • @spiritofradio fuck kiss!

  • absolutely fkin unbelieavable ...

  • No worries...that glitching at the beginning of the video is just the tape and vcr adjusting to the sheer awsomness that is RUSH.

  • @Persistanceofdali2 its still creepy :|

  • great quality for an old vid like this

  • I'm drinkin' a beer and was "In The Mood" for some melodic, hard rockin' music, so I'm "Finding My Way" over to some early Rush, 'cause they rock so damn hard. That said, I don't think can withstand any more of the ten thousand tons of awesomosity emanating from this trio. Terrible "Circumstances", I know.

  • Hit those high notes Geddy! His voice was so shrill, He has a hard time hitting those notes now, but still kicks ass.

  • so we have jutsin bieber and lady gaga these days...oh great.....hmmm....give me led zep, black sabbath, rush....no wonder kids are so messed up these days

  • @poolepaul Zepp and Sabbath in the same sentence as Rush? Ha! What're you smoking man?

  • @pollylodges...............UFO

  • this looks like led zepelin =P

  • Top 100 bands of all time: #1 - RUSH. #2 - Everybody else.

  • how is it even possible that Geddy Lee kicks so much ass?

  • fuckin rash on my brain

  • And the Rock n Roll HOF has SNUBBED this legendary band again.... the CEO of the Hall Jan Wenner wouldn't know real music if it smacked him in the face. One need only to just watch this single video to know Rush is more than worthy of Hall of Fame status.

  • VCRs suck...but rush rules

  • I think its safe to say that this is the best band ever hands down.

  • this is freakin amazing,

  • RIGHT LET'S STOP MESSING ABOUT!!

Try playing Lee's bass lines (and singing) simultaneously, Lifeson's guitar riffs/arpeggios and solos, and finally Peart's syncopated drum rhythms. None of the above is easy to perform.

The "musicians" in many of the so-called bands of today would be completely and utterly out of their depth i.e. bands like say McFly or U2. Rush's complicated awesome music could well be described as being on a "timeless wavelength"!!

    Does anyone else agree?

  • @ecapa0020 No.

  • @ecapa0020 Don't forget about their spiritual , complexed to the average joe lyrics!

  • @ecapa0020 its all called computer generation...i can easily simulate it in my downstairs washroom with the right equiptment...eems the Hall of Fame agrrees with me and the other 299,999,987americans in this country.

  • @ecapa0020 I agree

  • @ecapa0020 I agree with you about everything up until the point that you bash U2. I love both U2 and Rush, and to insult U2 breaks my heart. Larry Mullen Jr.'s drumming is excellent in my opinion, as well as the opinion of others. Neil and Larry are equivalent in my eyes.

  • @msmusic4evr larry is great, but nobody is as close to as good as neil

  • @ecapa0020 u2 is amazing though

  • @ecapa0020 yes… but a better question is "does anyone else care?" Rush are incredibly skilled, but a band of lesser skill can just as easily rock at Rush's level. I'm sure even you can think of one or 2 examples.

  • @zortotron Just as easily? Yup yer probably one of the examples, right?

  • @notnilccm yeah, just as easily. deal with it

  • @ecapa0020 No rock bands have ever come close to rush when it comes to musicianship, period. Including Zeppelin , though they were my fav growing up, and still my fav pure blues rock band. Also on the list, Yes, Floyd, Who, etc...

  • I have been a fan since I was 10, and I am 41, so Rutsey was irrelevant anyway. He talked too much for a drummer, and played decent, but not awesome like Peart. I think people just want to be sentimental because he died in 08, but he was not what you would call integral in the development of the most awesome trio in rock history. Triumph holds second place, but they were never like Rush. No one was ever like Rush.

  • hahahaha that look

  • yeah o yeah

  • this is neil peart playing. but you are correct ruttsey recorded this with em, but neil joined in 75 because ruttsey was kicked out of the band due to his poor health, and then the greatest band on earth was born.

  • @DarkMage965 neil actually joined in late 74. (to be accurate)

  • Oops, this is 75, but i still think their first drummer? Maybe i have memory issues... I do know that Peart didn't record the studio cut of this.

  • @redheadedguy00 i think this is Peart playing, it looks like him (watched Rush, beyond the lighted stage last night)

  • @ThatGuyThatUdontKnow yes this is definitely neil. they dont look anything alike for one... and neither do their sets... and their playing styles are completely different as well

  • Comment removed

  • @redheadedguy00 wrong.

  • Rush isnt the Canadian Zeppelin...Zeppelin are the English Rush

  • CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Legendary band. They will still be admired in the year 2112.Rush.......forever.

  • I wish Geddy still had the range he did in the early years, but they still ROCK! My favorite all time band!

  • 666 likes? Oh my gawd! The devil is calling Rush and claiming them the best band in the universe!

  • 666 likes? Oh shit!

  • this is my favorite video I have ever watched

  • The ULTIMATE power trio

  • I'm in the mood for music that kicks ass...that's why I'm here. Where's Beneath Between Behind?

  • These boys are Iconic.

  • I wish my hair looked more like Geddy's does here XD

    FINDING MY WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!

  • @SunflowerEmmeline OMG, it would be so wonderful if you'd have them this long when we meet :'D Moi, je les aurai aussi long... je me dis... si je les coupe pas pour 2 ans... pourquoi ils atteindraient pas cette longueur? C: Mais tes parents vont croire que je suis un hippie tiré des années 70 par contre XDDD

  • great song shitty quality, but i know its an old video
