  • Why in the hell is everyone coughing their brains out? THIS IS OPERA!!!!

  • The Silvio/Nedda duet of this performance isn't available, is it?

  • @cbrandonmorales Yes, search Elizabeth Futral and Pagliacci.

  • very good. shes proving herself to be a very versatile singer. i do agree that myabe she is jsut a tiny bit too on the joyous side. maybe she is confusing it with a sense of abandon that is definitely required of this aria. still very good and im sure shell jsut keep getting better. shes always a pleasing artist. oh not to name drop but for an amazingly stunning version of this aria check out lucrezia bori's and mariana nicolesco's renditions.

  • Brava on the vocalism. but just like every soprano i have heard, she has no idea what this aria is about.

This is not a happy piece...

  • Probably it's just that you have no idea what it's about.

  • and you do. Enlighten me.

  • Just as I thought. Empty words. As soon as they are challenged to put out or shut up they run away.

  • What would you like to know about this Aria?

  • Why do i need a soprano? It is all in the libretto, the music and the background of the character. You do not need to be a soprano to know all these things.

  • typical tenor to think the only emotions in opera are happy and sad.

    take some acting classes

  • Typical. someone who thinks they can use the tenor thing to insult. Bitch please.

I don't need acting classes cause i already took them. Have you taken italian classes? have you studied the lubretto and the background of the opera and the piece?

Of course not. But you still felt compelled to make some comment because it made you feel so much more intelligent.

Funny how they call me names, but have not been able to disprove anything i say nor bring evidence that i am wrong. Typical

  • yeah, i've sung silvio in 6 different houses in the US. i know what this aria is about and elizabeth futral performs it beautifully. we study with the same teacher, arthur levy, in new york, and based on what we've discussed, her acting skills are very honed. it's when little kids think they have some say-so because they've taken italian 101 or have read a libretto online. try performing it, you amateur. you want evidence? look at your own resume and then talk to me about knowing opera

  • "I study in NY so i know better than you" laughable argument. "I perform more than you so I know a lot more." Even more laughable.

Once again, if you are going to debate me, stop the infantile name calling and bring your cards to the table.

i will say it again for you who apparently can not read English: The vocalism is fantastic. The performance is one side and has no nuances based on the text, or the background , or the libretto, or the orchestration. Prove me wrong or shut up.

  • You don't have to prove anything, JockamoGoon. This guy is a hack. I've read his articles on Parterre. He's just a washed up old queen from the midwest that thinks he can write, so he posts blogs and "articles" for no reputable writing establishment. I've commented on your shiite before. You're just awful.

  • Funny, the same name calling; nothing proved. I have only written ONE article for parterre, a review. Funny how you feel compelled to stretch the truth and call me names to make yourself feel batter.

And by the way, age is nothing. I have met 20 year old men and 50 year old boys. Seems that no matter what your age is, you are still acting your shoe size.

Lastly, my location means nothing. The Midwest is known for very good opera teaching and companies. IU and OTSL are just 2.

    Laughable

  • @tenore23 in support of your above comment: Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music, Indiana University, Oberlin, Curtis, Miami University, Cleveland Institute of Music, Northwestern and UKY ... there are fantastic Opera Singers coming out of these schools. Opera is alive and well in the Midwest my friends :)

  • Ok, fine. What exactly in the libretto indicates that Futral's interpretation is incorrect? Specifically, I mean. I'm open.

  • @tenore23 I agree...the piece SOUNDS happy, but the words show a desperate longing to get away from the life she is living. The best Neddas are able to show the desperation and sadness that lay underneath the surface of this aria.

  • Beautiful job. Beautiful girl...Brava!

  • BRAVA - i love the "stridono lassu" part sung with passion! beautiful voice! effortless at the end, BRAVA!
