Sir I'm just watching your videos but THANK YOU. THANK YOU for your service to our country duing WWII. What you and your generation did for America and the world is something that can't be put in to words really.
You chose the right buddy! an Aussie.. Im an Aussie, you have good taste in friends haha! you will always recieve good comments, because everyone on you tube respects you sir. And your stories make me realise how much of a champ you are.
Hi Les: I am not of your generation (I was born in 1940) but I love listening to your stories. My father was in the Navy during WWII and I lived with my family in service housing at the Alameda Navel Air Station, Alameda, California. Thus, I feel like I participated just a little in the era of WWII. Your stories are gems, and show that people can be friends with others from different cultures, if we try to understand the other. Thanks for promoting universal understanding.
Thank you for sharing your piece of history as it happened...you just cant get history as it was from a book... Looking forward to more and prayers for your friend as well.
Welcome back, Mr. Loken! I have missed your posts on this board. So glad to see that you are doing better and please send my best to Steve, I sure hope he feels better soon.
Thank you for all you have done for this great country and what you continue to do with your videos. It is an honor to watch and learn from someone who truly is an officer and a gentleman. May God Bless you and keep you.
You're an inspiration to a lot of people. I'm thankful that you found YouTube to talk with people around the world. The one thing about YouTube and the Internet is, in a sense, it Immortalizes someone. Take care and be blessed.
It is just fantastic to see someone with your life experiences on YouTube. I tried very hard to get my father on the computer but he showed no interest in it at all. I think he was curious but didnt understand it. Unfortunatly he passed away a few years ago. I miss him everyday. Stay well and I will keep watching for new vids from you.
it has got to be something to have been born at the turn of the century, and still being around to see the world shrink to the size of a monitor (or a mac) everyone over the age of 65 should have a computer to stay stimulated and in touch...thx for the vids, col loken...we salute you
Dear Mr Loken, I had a great day today showing my 10 and 6 year old your videos on Japan. They ask about the war movies I watch on history channel and I thought It would be great to show them someone who was there and get a personal history lesson. From me,jake, and joey thank you sir.
You're such a kind, gentle soul. You're the grandfather I always wanted; a ww2 veteran who would tell me all his stories. Both of my grandfathers passed before I was 7. I appreciate the short time I spend with you on youtube. Thank you, Josh
Great videos, sir! I'm glad you're feeling better, i was wondering where you were. I have the utmost respect for anyone who served to defend this country. You're a hero. I hope you have 94 more years of good fortune!
Thank you for making the effort to reach out to future generations with your stories. My children (ages 9 and 12) will be watching your videos as part of their lessons.
You and your generation are a rare treasure that often is left unrecognized. Thank you for changing that for those of us who frequent this medium.
Some say it is the children who will lead the way... but how can they lead without the wisdom of the elders?
Hello Mr. Loken, You are really amazing, What you do brings a whole new light into Youtube and on an Educational stance you beat Learning about WW2 in School, nothing can compare to hearing it from a Vet who can say I have been there and done that.
You are one of a kind Mr. Loken, you are really amazing. I enjoy watching your videos whenever the chance arises. You bring a whole new light into youtube. You learn about World War 2 in History class in school but nothing can be better than hearing it from a vet who has been there and done that.
No apology needed for being away...we just are glad you are back and well. I really, really look forward to hearing more of your adventures. I do check here everyday to see if you have a new video. Thank you for sharing your life with us and thank-you for serving our country. Hats off to you, Les!
And thank you Les for posting your videos, I subscribed a while back and check back daily to see if you've posted a new video. :) My best wishes to you and your friends, until next time, bye Les :D
Hello! I am so happy to see your new post and I'm glad your feeling better. I just shared all your videos with my husband and I think he's hooked now too. I would love to learn more about how and where you grew up. I also look forward to hearing more about your life in the mlitary. Take care, hope to see you again soon.
It's always a treat to see a new video of you Les. I scour YouTube every day looking for a new chapter in your WW2 stories. I salute you and wish you many more years of sharing your wisdom and experiences with us. Thank you for everything you have done, and everything you are doing. Jason T.
Thank you so much for doing these videos! I have begun to share them with my colleagues, friends and my elementary and middle school children! You give such a great example of the kind of person I want to be to those around me! Please continue to bless us with your knowledge and memories of a time gone by!
Great video, very genuine...i used to play a lot of cribbage. I was wondering..we have this rule..if you ask someone to cut the deck and they cut it you get 2 pts....just wondering if you ever heard of that..is that a real rule?
watching your videos is something i look forward to. i hope your friend gets well soon, i very much enjoyed the video of the 2 of you playing cribbage. thank you for making these videos, they prove that the older generations have so much wisdom to share w/ us if we just will take the time to listen.
I was so excited when I saw you had posted a new video and thanks so much for mentioning me. I love your stories and you are precious. Signed...addicted to Les. Deborah
You are such a cool and nice guy. I would love to talk to you in real life. Watching your videos are just great because you think and care about others, somthing that is sadly becoming more and more uncommon. I will continue to watch your videos! Take care
Hi Les keep up the good work, keep warm, tell Steve to get better so we can hear his stories, I really enjoy your stories and photos, I check evertday to see if you have posted more, see keep them coming, take care for now, John
Les, some responders have inquired about your thoughts on current events, especially the Iraq situation. I think it would be very educational to hear from you on that, if you are keeping abreast of current events. My question: how does the wartime press/propaganda of today compare to that of WW2 and subsequent years?
Thanks for your videos. It's terrific to see so many younger people so interested.
Your welcome. I should be thanking you =) . Every time I watch one of your videos I catch myself with a smile on my face. Keep your stories coming :D .

Col. Loken, thanks for the great videos, I've always wanted to hear from a soldier during the occupation of Japan. I have two questions.
1) What did you think of General Macarthur?
2) Did you ever meet General Macarthur?
Thanks, Mike
