I can imagine Reiko and Rain developing a rivalry to claim control of outworld's armies. Kenshi will probably be based around restoring Ermac and allying with him. Scorpion will hopefully start hunting down Quan Chi. They could either go with the original series, take a completely new turn or have both. Since MK9 was completely for the nostalgia anyways, the old school fans can go back to MK9.

I don't get this. A few years ago, I remember fans complain about how they want to see the "bad guys" win for once. Well, this story line comes closest to it. Most of the good guys are dead, Raiden makes one blunderous decision (okay, more like major fuck-ups) after another, and big villains are still scurrying around.

Is this storyline too radical of a change? Do we still need to be comforted knowing that the heroes'll win and save the day?

If there is a sequel to this, this is what will happen (if it wants to follow through with canon): Elder gods will make an exception to the rule to resurrect the fallen Earthrealm heroes, because of how Shao Kahn's actions violated everything in the rules. Then they will united again vs. Shinnok. His necklace is going to play a large role in the sequel, because that is his only portal back into existence.

MK10? I doubt it, unless they've got some other brilliant change to the classic story. In the opening of this game, Classic Raiden already forsaw the future all the way up to his death in Armageddon. So he already knows what Quan Chi and Shinnok are planning, so he'll figure out a way to stop them before they become they were originally supposed to become a threat.

This made no sense to me tbh. 1) I thought the whole reason Raiden couldn't fight in the original Mk3 was because he had limited powers in outworld, yet here he beats Khan? 2) If Khan had to win, what was the point in the heroes fighting at all in the original MK3? 3) Liu Kang's death was shit. a fire accident, seriously? 4) How can there be an MK4 if only cage and sonya are left?

@ASHJBKH2 1.) They were still in earthrealm, Khan never merged it with outworld at this point. 2.) In the original, they did not know khan had to win. It's because of future Raiden they knew that khan must win. Which past Raiden realized near the end. 3.) it was also electricity, not just fire. and 4.) either there will be some twist, and/or they'll bring in some of the later characters to help Raiden and the others.
