It's all a matter of where you grew up, really. I grew up in the heart of Tornado Alley, and have memories of sitting on my roof at the age of 7 with my dad and a pair of binoculars, watching tornadoes in the distance.

Due to this, even when I see one less than half a mile away I don't feel fear, but fascination.

If you grew up under similar conditions, you probably have little to no fear of tornadoes, only respect for what they can do. If you did not, they scare the **** out of you.

@alternateshadow300 based on the high level clouds I would say this is probably a dust-tube tornado generally not associated with a mid-level mesocyclone system that produces the 'more traditional' descending funnel cloud supercellular tornadoes. Though generally weaker than supercellular tornadoes they are, at least by the national weather service's definition, a true tornado and from the looks of the video this one is pretty strong for a dust-tube.
