no you don't but it sure don't help. HIs dad took inner city kids and taught them the clarinet and other instruments, his dad wrote music, Drummer was literally born into this creativity, when he was a just a boy he could play the piano and he understand how music progressions and chords were suppose to sound. I'm not saying that a regualr guy can't do what he does but all I'm saying is he has a 20 year headstart, plus he's freakishly creative, the more you know, the more clever you can get

look at scott storch, he coudl play the piano at 8, timbaland and danja wer einto music young, pharrel and chade hugo as well, the greats gre up in music, ppl lik eus jsut started getting our feet wet. Imake atleast one beat per day but i dont i dont understand chords. I guess, play around till it sounds ok, these guys know what they want it to sound like, They're painting a masterpeice from the start, they know how it shoudl look first, were jsut throwing paint around till it sounds ok :)

ya I get that, but if you gave drumma and these guys one hour to come up with a commercial hit, they could. There freaks. There minds work differently than hours. It's just the way it is. Listen to an Akon chorus, he coudl wrtie 30 different catchy hooks, all soudning differnet but all incredible and memorable, but yet we coudlnt even write one decent one, thast what I mean. We may study chords and theory and practive our ass off to be real producers but we are missing that freak creativity

The point is, don't confuse the most seen and heard with the best..that's all I'm saying. And to answer your question, yes, in my opinion I can take a artist and make him a hit. Just like in my opinion, this beat is not a hit, maybe by industry standards but not to me. A lot of things in music has been dumbed down to cater to the average motherfucker and not encouraging them to be above, like what a hit is, how you determine who's hot and who's not.

Kinda weird how these guys seek them out, then hand them $50- $100,000 for a beat, considering how they arent that great according to you.Even though they create award winning songs,not just beats,they write hooks, etc. The melodies that they create stick in your head,they do exactly what music is suppose to do. I write songs, i make beats,I have some kewl stuff on my computer that isnt online but it's not even close to being on their level. I can hit a baseball but not as good as Albert Pujols
