Instead of making a paper grids, its a lot easier to just get a paint program like Paint Shop Pro, choose the sprite that to want to make, turn the grid option on and zoom in to the sprite.

@Tanas666 yup, i used a beading program, you just add a picture then click grid and it makes it into a sprite :)
