The different Z-score charts are confusing. I'm using the "Area from the left" version. Is there any reason why one would use the old chart over the "Area from the left" chart? My teacher never explained the differences between the two charts and I got many answers wrong because I wasn't aware of the different charts and was switching between the two without knowing it.
Very helpful but, the terms distance is not well used. I thing we should say area btw mean and data, then distance in terms of standard deviations. Values from the z-table are areas from the mean value not distances.
@rockentui You may be getting confused by the two different chart versions like I myself was a few days ago. It seems like the most common chart used in classes is the "Area from the left" chart while this video is using the "Area from the mean" chart. Add a .5 to the last value on his chart (Z=3.9) and you will get the .9990 that is on the "Area to the left" chart.
@danpluso you're right! Another way I look at it now is instead of adding .3413 and .3413 we substract it! So because I use the "normal" table from my textbook, or "area from the left" table. The figures would be 0.8413 - 0.1587 and voila 68.26%. Thank you danpluso.
@rockentui Hey that's also what I do.. I find the area to the left for both targets and then subtract the smaller area from the larger area to get the are between the two. I've tried doing it both ways before but prefer using "area to the left" and it's the way my teacher taught it.
Excellent thank you

Why does your Z chart have .4 as opposed to .9 on the chart?

@BadgerVBruin I'm askingmyself the same question!

This was amazing. I finally get z scores. I love the fact that you went step by step and gave several examples. Nicely done

Nice, but don't insult our intelligence by taking 4 steps to show (145-100)/15=3. Good shit otherwise
