Hmmm..... thinking of a "Jump Masse" shot during a tournament, short range jump shot combined with a masse to make a difficult side pocket shot for the win in a game of 9 ball.... that was awsome... thanks for reminding me -
very good tips..i cant wait to try them,,,im new to that game...and so far i really like it... oh and it would be kinda hard keeping ur concentration on tha shot when u have a stripper bent over infront of u...
I wish I was as good as you Dean. I love playing pool but I suck (well at least compared to you). I just wanna get better at breaking and "Jumping" the cue ball (making it hop)
You can be as good as you want, it's all up to you. Remember that if you learn the fundamentals of the game, you can apply them any way you want, but it must feel right to you and you must be confortable with your game. Then practice, practice, practice... Good Luck
Did I pay you for that tip??? lol - Thanks but anyone can be as good or better than me. I'm just a regular guy sharing some tips with you, who might not know some basics. Just play and pay attention to the good players, you will learn as you go, good luck with your game.
you are aware that in the top competion you only have 30 second to make your first shot after the cue ball stops moving on your opponents shot so u dont realy have much time to walk around the tabe to get your focus back if u r really concentrating nothing should be able to get u off your game but contact
Not to mention at that level (top competition) you know pool well enough that it really shouldn't take any longer than 30 seconds to make up your mind. Maybe your first shot to map the entire table then all that's left is to execute.
Yes, for the more experience pool player, or professional player, that is what they would do. It is much easier for the beginner to only think of 3 balls at a time, easier to plan position and less to think about. this still works for me at times, of course I do like to map out the whold table before I start shooting.
You have been watch TV, yes in professional pool this is the rule, but most times you can take as much time as you like, unless you are a professional playing a professional game with time limits. Don't let anyone rush you, take as much time as you like.
haha how the hell did you see that? If you listen the music makes a little kinda scary movie type sound right after too. Dean, does it bother you that youre pool hall is haunted? haha
I like to add a few things that may help. Before making a shot decide what you want to do first ... alot of people miss easy shots because they didn't fully commit the shot and where they wanted the cue ball be for the next shot. Try to think 3 balls ahead ... create angles for 2 shots ahead ... being too straight on sucks unless it's the last ball to shoot. Also ... if distracted ... get up and walk to the opposite side of shot ... it allows time to forget about what distracted you. Then Commit
Thanks a lot for the tips. I'm sort of a beginner pool player, and yes, the shot visualisation tip really helps. Before, i usually followed my instincts for predicting where will the white ball end up at, but with visualising it's much more efficient!
You sound like to good player and yes distractions come easy when your not in the zone. Sometimes I'll close my eyes and go through the shot in my head then execute the shot... might sound funny but it works.
dude, your insane, whenever i try to line up my shots, i always bollox it up

In the mental game video, you say...
"Get in your zone...Don't let anybody pull you out of your focus".
Great advice. Great videos. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Yes, but you can do a lot in 30 seconds, if you are not distracted and are focused, exactly my point.
If you are in the zone, you don't need much time between shots.

Most of you viewing these tips are not in the Top Competition, so I don't think the 30 second rule applies here.
Thanks anyway

Gd advice which is often overlooked. I've been allowing myself to get distracted too much lately. Been affecting my game and reputation.
