The peavey ones sound better, more punch and feel. I never have liked Jensens anyway. I worked for Nolatone Ampworks and we tried a lot of em..Never felt like they had the life and feel of most other brands.. Sorry.. BUT the amp is awesome in your demo, and you did a great job demoing it,sooooooo I found one in a pawn shop and bought it today! THANKS!
I have the DB 210 also. I found that by adding a cheap Dano "Fish & Chips" EQ in the effects loop, I could clean up that low end distortion and getting a much tighter sound down in the range where I wanted it. I've gotten tones I didn't know this amp could do.
I've been happy with the Marvels, but I'm curious on how putting an EQ pedal in the FX loop would work with the Jensens. Probably terrific !
The last clip before the speaker swap: did you have a distortion pedal engaged? I think that's the best guitar sound of this video (and that's with the blue marvels!).
To my ears, the Jensens sound much better -- more midrange mojo. Although I could see how that fuzzy lower end could get annoying. In an ideal world it would be nice to compare a set of alnico blue/golds to see how those stack up. Thanks for posting.
I actually thought the Jensen P10qs sounded nice, but they are a vintage voiced speaker rather than a modern ceramic voicing, so the early breakup is great for the Britishy chimy thing,,,which is tasty!!
im looking to try something different now and thanks agian for this great video, amazing how much vollume you lost. Do you still have the amp and if yes, what are you using?
Thanks for this video man, I just bought a 2010 D.B.210 in regular tweed, I absolutely love it. I have a bunch of ragin caguns sitting around and scumback's but i'm leavin the marvel's in there, I love em.
@glassbottleblues Funny you should mention the Ragin Caguns. I swapped out the Marvels for the Caguns. Not a huge difference but definitely an improvement. I also retubed the PV for max headroom and use pedals for overdrives. I am very satisfied with this arrangement. The Jensens sounded good at lower volumes with their tiny little magnets but would never have stood up to a live situation in my opinion. I agree the Delta Blues is a great amp but the Marvels are limited. Rock On!!!
Yes, you are correct on all counts. A little more headroom w/the single coils but it wasn't enough for me to keep them. I have since put the stock speakers back in and am searching for a good alternative. Ragin Cajun perhaps?
I definitely like the tele with the alnico speakers, there's more depth and bloom...I detect alnico pups in the tele and ceramic in the LP type guitar.
