Everyone who lives in cold areas, including me, have at some point found themselves in a bad situation, but its all about how long it takes until you are back in front of the fire. I would never choose to do what he does, but he will die if he stretches it too far.. just like everyone else will.

@thaer12345: Some of that research has already been done. It turns out that Wim Hof has an exceptional amount of brown fat (which burns energy for heat) when compared to normal adults. Slender people tend to have more of it, while obese people tend to have very little to none at all. You can probably find more on brown fat using Google.

On top of that he seems to slip into a meditative state which helps him activate this brown fat, but that's still largely a mystery.
