  • what is that crab

  • @dollergenarl Old decorator crab I think.

  • I was thinking it was a mantis shrimp

  • im gonna think of getting some zoos r they hard to take care off

  • @002countryboy Easiest to take care of next to mushrooms.

  • nice i see it coming along how did you convert the puffer?

  • thats funny cuz i caint kep them alive in my tank my fish eat them

  • wow man very cool tank i have that same 30 gallon tank

  • Good stuff, man

  • Hey man, im starting out next week or so going to salt water, i need to know what stuff to get & how long to cycle it so plz comment back! i have a 30 gal. fresh water want to switch over

  • Hey man its me again, i have anither question. Ive been thinking about getting a cherubs pygmy angelfish and since you have a coral beauty im guessing they have same temperment. but ive read on them and some sites say they will nip at corals and others say it will harrass other fish. if u havent seen my videos i have 2 clowns 2 firefish(which ill probably put in other tank) and 1 dragonet and goby and 2 cleaner shrimp but whenever u get a chance get back to me. -DomBogey

  • @DomBogey My coral never bothered anything in the tank. Though I suggest you only have one at a time no matter how big your tank.

  • 2:42

    Is and octobubble coral.

I believe it is a type of euphelia.

  • Hows the green spotted puffer with the corals? I've read that some don't do well with them, as well as snails and crabs and stuff. Have you had any problems with it?

  • @GuitarMasta37 It was fine with the corals that I have. Unfortunately, they went right after my cleaner shrimp.

  • hey man, i just got a spotted manderin goby and my dads really worried that it wont eat. u told me that they ate pods but whats the best way to feed them the pods, bc ive seen some in my live rock like a week ago and ik it wont be enough. ive also seen pods at pet store, so whats better frozen or live? if they have live, i just really need advice bc my dad is being a downer and saying he probably wont survive when hes my favorite, thanks for the time, im veery very thankful.

  • thanks for the info about maderins! and i found out i had alot of pods that come out at night, at first i thought they were shrimp but im a newbie, i just got 2 clowns and ill tell ya they have great personalities! again thanks

  • How hard is it to care for the green manderin? Because I really want one, but they all say its very hard to care for and for a 30 gallon how many snails do you prefer?

  • @DomBogey

Its not that their hard to care for; its the fact that they need special feeding. They only eat pods which are microscopic critters present in an well established tank. But even in a well established tank, the mandarin will deplete the population fairly quickly. The only real strategy is to culture the pods elsewhere and constantly replenish the main tank regularly. As I would rather look at this as a hobby rather than work, I opt to just not have a mandarin in my tank.

  • how hard is it to care for the green manderin? bc i really want one but they all say its very hard to care for.

  • easy with that new coral you got, its a galaxea, a pretty aggressive coral, it can damage your other corals if its too close to any. The long sweeper tentacle thats extracted is it's stinger. Your tank looks great by the way, great work!.

  • @m0nkeydo0dle

Thanks for the advice. Had the same problem with my torch, 2 frog spawns and hammer. Since the tank isn't that big and not much room for new coral, had to figure out where to place them. Don't mint them stinging the basic brown zoas but have to be careful with the more vibrant ones.

  • wow! great start to the tank :) i am just starting my own reef tank, and i love yours :) i like the green puffer to loll :) Ii was wondering how much money tou spent on all the coral frags in the tank?

  • @ALTadamALT

This vid is a year old. See my recent update. Too much wasn't spent on coral. The most I ever paid for one was $40 and it wasn't really worth it. Everything else was frags ranging from $10-$25 and they just grew.

  • How much was your tank?

  • @DomBogey

The tank was only about $35 used on Craigslist.

  • i have an old 30 gallon tank and plan to use it as a new saltwater aquarium. Any advice on what equipment i should buy? im on a budget.

    thanks.

  • @TheAmericanCanadian

Depends on what you want. If its only for a few fish with a light bio load treat it as you would a freshwater tank for the most part. Light, HOB filter, heater, etc. Also need the salt and a hydrometer. Any more advanced and you need better filtration such as bio and/or skimmer with tons of rock.

  • hey man, im loving the vids. you should do another update i really wanna c how its going now. props

  • 2:37 is a bubble coral. very nice tank :)

  • I started this hobby a few years ago and you look like you're much farther a long then I was at that time. Keep up with the water changes and make sure you research anything that you plan on adding to your tank and I'm sure your tank will do great.

    Oh and I subscribed :)

  • what kind of crab is that?

  • Keep that hammer coral away from your other corals! You don't want it laying down the hammer and smashing corals near it to keep itself alive. Tank looks great nice videos too! If you every have any questions about puffers just let me know! I've got lots. :D

  • Dont have any hammers but a torch now, Huge compared to my other corals and has its own area. Tank looks way different than in this video and really need to do an update soon.

  • hey man nice tank, this video is a little old now so you have probably come to this srealisation but all angels are coral nippers - some less than others- but they are all coral nippers. they can be selective of the corals they nip though so just to make you aware of that. anyway nice tank man

  • Thanks for the warning. The only coral nipper ive ever run into was one my damsels. Devoured my green star polyps. Had to make a fish trap to get him out. Best thing is was the GSP grew back as soon as the damsel was gone. Fastest growing coral in the tank.

  • Nice tank, just a helpful hint from one reefer to the other... you sould do water changes to prevent phosphate build up. those levels need to stay very low. over time if they build up you will get red slim and green hair algae. you dont want to fight that battle!!! also put micro algae in you sump, it will eat phosphates and grow in the sump, you then can just remove some of that resulting in removal of phosphates from you tank. Look it up its a VERY good idea. Plus you can grow your own pods

  • Awesome tank! I love the green star polyps and the zoas!

  • Fastest growing corals. Thanks.

  • man u have a badd ass tank nice info on saltwater tanks i just sterted mine check it out i subscribed deffenily 5*****

  • Hey man how is the tank doing? UPDATES!!

  • that is a torch coral just so you know.

  • great vid! I'm geuissing the crab and the shrimp eat the algea?? I wanted to start my own saltwater fish tank and i was wondering, what are some good fish to start with??

  • Clowns are perfect to start with. Cost about $20-25 a piece, hardy and pretty.

  • @lexdiamond20 how much exactly will it be to a have a 30 gallon reef?

  • Comment removed

  • Do you buy RO water or do you have a filter? If so how much did or do you pay for the filter or water?

  • I brought a unit off of Ebay for a little over $100. Worth it though.

  • what kind of lighting do u have

  • Its a brand named Odyssea. Pretty reputable as I did the reasearch before ordering it on Ebay. Total wattage is 96x96=192. 1 dual actinic and 1 dual 12k daylight.

  • hay if you go to your fish place and ask for some exchang for the coral bande shrip for some thing els or you could frag the zoos if you get a scapl or any kind of raro and split the zoos they need someroom and you can out them around your tank i love to do it its fun just make sure you have a good stable tank for the coral and the mushum will evetvaly spltit ok thx for allll of the good in fo

  • your decorator crab is amzing btw ... do you dose magnesium with your calcium to get coraline algea growth ?

  • Only additive I use is calcium right now. The coralline started growing after I started using RO/DI water. But I do think I should be dosing with other additives.

  • the first coral looks like button polyps i have some growing in my small reef tank,

second one is a torch coral third is more buttons 4th is hammer head coral 5th buttons again 6th star polyps or xenia cant tell just thought i would let you know so you can look um up on google or something to see how to feed them .. i use brine shrimp and phytoplankton

  • Your absolutely right with the labels of the corals. Thanks. I just checked Google images and the 6th one is a Xenia if im not mistaken.

  • the tank is coming up very nice i watch the first vid u posted i really like your Mandarin im planing to get a pair when i setup my 125 gall what is the ppm. of your calcium the coralline coverage is amazing i still cant get coralline in my tanks lol

keep it up its coming out perfect

  • Thanks. Just checked. The ppm is about 380 as of this morning. Ill slowly raise it to about 500.
