Holy crap, nice going with putting the sound through the ENTIRE monologue. That really drives the point home. I originally thought "eh, it's almost a pleasant noise, but they probably know better cuz they live with it." By the end I was just like MAKE IT STOP. That's god-awful annoying. =.= I can't believe you're expected to just deal with it. The gov. really is a bunch of self-serving a-holes.
Only stupid ass Tea Baggers complain about the sound of wind farms. I've been around them and they're not that bad. It's better than getting energy from coal.
The next time someone says "would you sooner have a coal or nuclear plant in your backyard" i`m going to beat them over the head with a bat. What are you going to have in your backyard when there are days of NO WIND to have POWER? IDIOTS
I live near turbines as well, I have been close to them and you cannot hear a thing. Canada needs to step up its game in the turbine business, because they shouldn't be that loud.
That being said, I believe you may be turning something bad into what seems like an epic tragedy you wrote to accompany the video. I feel your pain, but, coming from somebody that has to deal with people a lot in my business, NOBODY likes to deal with someone who is uncontrollably mad. Relax and take care of it.

Hey, I was watching the final scene in "Less than Zero" w/Downey, Gerth, and the very scary James Spader. In the end, they are driving past giant Wind "Farms" in California. These "Green" folks and their Bs are just sucking the bucks our of our pockets. What an annoying racket. Please, build the next one's on their roofs, see how long they last.
See, that's funny, because I was just near a wind turbine in Hull, Massachusetts, and my friend and I had to get REALLY close to the turbine to even know what it sounded like.
Wind power seems to be working pretty well for the Europeans, maybe try expressing your concerns to them.
@crystalraindrops3 Truth is there are over 400 community groups formed in Europe to combat onshore wind turbines. Truth is Denmark is no longer building them onshore ("too many complaints from residents"). Truth is setbacks have been increased to 2km + nightime operating restrictions imposed in several jurisdictions. Truth is Britain is having major, organized resistance to onshore IWTs. Read a little.
We should have more coal powered plants. Nothing bad has ever come from that. Yes I'm being sarcastic. I live in a small city and have much more noise around me than what it is in this video. I have my speakers on full and yet I'm still hearing cars. I can even hear birds on the video. I can't hear birds where I live.
@WednesdayAdams1968 Why would you be sarcastic, at least they provide energy all of the time, unlike these pointless monstrosities! If you choose to live in a city that's fine you chose to live with noise, the people who choose to live in the countryside do so to enjoy the peace and quiet it brings. These are not wind 'farms' this is just a spin name for industrial wind turbine plant, no other industry would be allowed to be built in the heart of the country!
The US Government put up money for wind power but did not specify that the money had to be spent inside the USA so the grants ended up going to make windmills in China. So we paid China to make Wind Power to do basically all of the problems that you guys are complaining about.
Never heard of this Wind noise problem. they have these on hills outside of Mojawe, Ca. and never heard a complaint, but no one actually LIVEs within 1500 meters of them. there is a string of them very visible from Hwy 58 as you cross the Tahactapi Mountains.
Thats ridiculous! Cut those things down. They spoil the view they sound awful and they cost more than they produce. WIND is a joke! Put them in the Ocean where they belong. Let the ships run into them. Stupid wind.
I like noise, so I would enjoy the subtle sound of the turbines, but that's just me. I'm pretty sure that most other people couldn't take that sound all of the time. They should move wind turbines to desolate areas, where no one lives, so other people won't be disturbed.
oh please i dont care about the noise. Ever lived near an airport??? a railroad yard??? comes with the territory. But the reason i oppose wind power is that it is just too undependable. We need nuclear or coal plants.

I guess it's just because I live in an urban area but this doesn't sound that loud. You can clearly hear birds chirping and so forth over it. Certainly no louder than the busy road a half mile away from me.
Your complaining about a little noise, but wait till global warming begins to drastically affect our climat and you will then say goodbye to your land, sleep and well how anoying that is.. DONT BE SO IGNORANT -- THIS IS A SOLUTION
BELIEVE THE NOISE. DO NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING BIG WIND OR GOVERNMENT TELLS YOU. I live 1662 feet from a single 1.65MW 400 foot tall wind turbine in Falmouth, MA 02540. We were fed fiction when it was proposed.
Since the day it began turning in early 2010 its sound has been driving a number of us crazy. So now they are building another, even closer to homes.
Green mania has gone completely wrong. It is driving some of us from our homes. 30 years here and a fricking windmill forces me to move. BF
Sorry that you have to live with this. They might be putting wind turbines where I live, so I decided to go out and actually hear a wind turbine in person. I can totally see why they would drive you insane after a week ! Let alone months or years !
I believe turbines should be at least 1.5 km from any house. I love wind power because it does not pollute. I myself can't have one in Cambridge on because there is a bylaw. I do have 780 watts of photovoltaics and 20000 btu per hour solar thermal collector!
I spend a lot of time near a wind farm in north central Indiana and have not noticed this sort of noise. What size are these things? I had to really struggle to even hear them here.
Those wind turbines are so loud I can't make out if that is one bird chirping or 3...sounds like someone is just pissed because they didn't get a piece of the pie!
Noise is recorded from the base of the tower then amplified greatly then overlaid on to footage shot far off to imply they are hugely noisy at distance - wind turbine blades are like glider wings -very quiet.
Nice try ass-hole. I shot the video from near the road with no manipulation of video or sound.
These fucking turbines are driving people crazy but you try to justify them. They are fraud. Trying to save us from the MMGW scam with the wind farm scam. Two scams don't make TRUTH.
It's a shame the anti turbine brigade cant reply to criticism with out foul mouthed behavior. Turbines do not make anything like this much noise, even the older designs.
I went to Toora in Australia to look at the turbines. The wind in my ears was louder than the turbines. I could barely hear the turbine closest to me and certainly couldnt hear the other 11. Anti wind farmers need to have a good hard look at them selves. Id have one on my farm if there was money in it, no problem. Better than living in Latrobe Valley with all that coal being burnt.
are you for real you are a dick you are standing right under a turdine and have the camre facing a nother what would you prefer a nucler power plant on you land or a windturbine
I believe that you would prefer to have an nuclear power plant or just a coal, gas plant instead of a turbine, let's be honest and tell uss whay you did that and wich equipment you used by accidental it is not a unidirectional mu\icro with amplituner?
by the way I am not involved in the field of beside that I presume that was a proposal to relocate those familyes if yes why they decided to stay right there to complain, even now thet can sue the farm owner and request to pay for relocation..
I just listening the noise and it is far less that the one of a high way, I agree, it is disturbance but there is no related medical records to comfirm that.
There are many other things in our life (airports, electric station and substation radio relays, highway, medicine) they come with advantages and disadvantages, all we cand do is to do not blame them we need to compromise and balance otherways there will always
Quote from Bowark Energy's Confidential Right of Way Agreement. 2.1.6. Noise Rights. to generate and maintain audible noise levels on and above the Lands up to sixty-five (65) db(A) in excess of the ambient noise level measured at ground level at a point five hundred (500) meters in an upwind direction from the source of the noise, wherever originating, at any or all times of the day or night; Yes, wind turbines DO make noise and the wind companies know it.
@mashhammer Sure they make noise. However lets be realistic, a Starbucks with no coffee grinding and the Steam wand turned off is 77dB, people go to Starbucks to study this is a quieter place.....
I'm not saying you make money w/ blogs or video's, you make money fighting the wind companies and there customers. Why are you in the area in the first place? Would you rather be drinking radioactive water from underground storage of radioactive waste? i don't. There will always be someone to whine and bitch about everything, in this case you are the crybaby.
Jessey must be a corporate shareholder for industrial or intensive wind operations.
They exist more and more in Alberta too and the effort big energy goes to discredit landholders concerns is apalling.
Again, while "green is good", intensity and density is what we should be questioning with regards to human health, ecology, and individual rights to enjoy one's property.
You claim that the noise comes from the turbines that you are filming, but you fail to mention that there is a turbine right next to you, right?.....i will go to the same place and make my own video but this time i will pan right to show everyone you are directly beside one. Are you disputing the fact that you are beside one in your video?
your tax dollars are paying for these companies to get rich. they are no where near as efficient as nuke plants and cost three times as much to build. i think it takes roughly 5,000 wind turbines to produce the energy that a power plant produces. besides only big cities are receiving the energy. its just a big scam for the rich to get richer. hopefully the LHC will come up with some alternative energy.
WTF, I have been standing underneath and in the middle of a field of 100 turbines and i could barely hear anything, there was the quietest hum that i could only hear because i was standing next to them.
This isn't about wind power, this is about PEOPLE. People who are being forced to live with this 24/7 and who have choice but to move (if they can possibly sell). The Ontario government have knowingly forced inadequate setbacks from homes and families to promote this vote-getting scheme. Would YOU want your child sleeping and playing just meters from these high voltage monstrosities? Our government is systematically forcing rural residents to swallow this, no debate allowed.
Not to mention the stray voltage these folks are also living with! You people who refuse to believe there might be a "problem" with installing these huge generators so close to homes and children...shame on you. Would you like your kids to be sleeping just meters from these? These people were forced into the situation. Put up with it or move...if you can possibly sell. This isn't about wind power....this is about PEOPLE!
@jessey33 - they are dead in city centers and other urban hellholes. they're already zombies, nobody normal from this planet would ever put up with what the braindead call 'progress' - it's just removing the natural landscape, and along with it all natural energies.
why do u think the lawnmowerman in the film of the same name, is so dumb. cause he uses noisy machinery, works for other zombies who want their environments to look artificial. of course they're all dead already.
i've actually just got one question that i want answered...since these turbines pose such a health risk to people around the area, and you seem to know all about that. what abotu those that work on the turbines for a living? those that are climbing to the top to repair them? i currently work on those "health risks" and i'm in the best shape of my life. so come on...tell me what's going to happen to me? also it's easy to say soemthing noisy when your standing next to it.
I do know about the health risks posed by installing wind turbines to close to people's homes. I've been working with those affected for two years now. Thanks for accepting my knowledge.
That would be your decision as to what you what to work at.You get to leave when your done, the people don't
As a repairman, you should be very busy, as they seem to break down frequently.
The wind industry is the one that says they're quiet, not me.
those are quieter then 50 db's... which a office building is louder then that....so are all office workers in trouble?? get a life and stop filling the internet with junk
I don't think the atomcatt is anti-wind; he is anti-being-lied-too. If there are noise being white-washed, they need to be addressed honestly and in the best interest of all.
This doesn't mean scrap wind farms, it means deal openly with folks about the impact to the community.
I agree with you mrhappy but BIG ENERGY is not about upfront communication and honesty, and as the video indicates, this is about more than green energy which is good. It is about big corporates wanting green credits and improving their public image and to hell with anyone else, especially local property owners who have concerns.
According to your logic then everyone who lives within a 5 mile area of a train, bus, air port/air port landing and take off zone, or beach would be mentally unhealthy.
These are even quieter than any of those. This is crap and you know you were directly underneath those!
I was at the road not underneath it. Besides it's the wind industry and the govt. that says you can stand underneath a wind turbine and it's super quiet, not me.
I just took the video. No tricks. What you see and hear is what you get.
Quote from someone living at the Ripley wind farm "our life is shit since the wind farm came".
What you fail to accept is that these people were lied to by both the govt. and the wind industry.
I live about 1/4 mile away from a train track and 3 miles from an airport. Those noises come and go....but they go. Wind turbines operate continuously. It would be interesting to see the frequency range these turbines produce. There is no such thing as a silent turbine. If there are moving parts then there is friction. Where there is friction, there is noise
who is taping this?b/c your probably TRESPASSING..I would think if your standing under a moving turbine that it would be loud, next do it from the inside of your house & someone might sympathize...if it is so loud than why is the bird louder than the turbine..sounds like someone is anti-global warming & doesn't believe in saving the planet
Do you think it is possibly just that kind of turbine that makes that noise? Because we travel and erect wind turbines on new and already existing wind farms all over the US and I have NEVER EVER EVER heard any noise what so ever. I agree that is a terrible noise and something should be done about that. BUT wind energy IS NOT a fraud.
The Ripley wind farm is powered by 38 two-megawatt Enercon wind turbines. Worst I've heard so far. The other wind farms in Southern Ont. are using Vestas and have noise problems as well. The setbacks need to be extended by more than double the present ones.
this video was very interesting. why caint them niggers put the blades where it dont piss people off? it is enough to make you feel sorry for people who live near a bloody airport. don't you think it would be better to buy the fukushima used parts and put them in the high demand towns? jap version dont use cooling tower fans which make noise. they dump thermal to the ocean. very quiet system except for a few loud events

noise-pollution = physical assault.
no different if someone impacts upon your ears, than if they try it to your skin.
skin is a sense organ, so are ears.
noise-pollution emits frequencies that interfere with the human bodies normal operating frequencies, including electro-magnetic waves (thoughts).
noise-pollution causes stupidity as well.

I have never made $1 from this video or my blog!
The wind industry is the fraud not I.
Thank your for your comment.
atomcatt 3 years ago
I'm not saying you make money w/ blogs or video's, you make money fighting the wind companies and there customers. Why are you in the area in the first place? Would you rather be drinking radioactive water from underground storage of radioactive waste? i don't. There will always be someone to whine and bitch about everything, in this case you are the crybaby.

I appreciate your efforts to discredit the video.
That's what the industry does.
You make a lot of assumptions - all wrong of course.
I have never made a dime fighting the industry and govt.
Why doe you fools always bring up nuclear.
All I did was make a video of a wind farm and only after complaints came to me from people living near the turbines.
I've never shed a tear either.
Just doing my civic duty.

GOOD JOB ATOMCATT-KEEP GOING!
Jessey must be a corporate shareholder for industrial or intensive wind operations.
They exist more and more in Alberta too and the effort big energy goes to discredit landholders concerns is apalling.
Again, while "green is good", intensity and density is what we should be questioning with regards to human health, ecology, and individual rights to enjoy one's property.

im nonprofit, i pay money to do what i do. I just spent 108.95 on a credit card for this.
WarOnWind 2 years ago
You claim that the noise comes from the turbines that you are filming, but you fail to mention that there is a turbine right next to you, right?.....i will go to the same place and make my own video but this time i will pan right to show everyone you are directly beside one. Are you disputing the fact that you are beside one in your video?
jessey33 3 years ago
Fill your boots.
You seem to have a vested interest in the wind farm industry.
South Perth by any chance?
I got a call a few days ago from a lady at the Canadian Hydro site near Shelburne.
She is 450 meters from a turbine and says the sound is the same as on the video.
But she's probably just another Anti-Green crybaby.
Even Suzuki and E. May says they shouldn't be so close to homes.
But then what do they know!

your tax dollars are paying for these companies to get rich. they are no where near as efficient as nuke plants and cost three times as much to build. i think it takes roughly 5,000 wind turbines to produce the energy that a power plant produces. besides only big cities are receiving the energy. its just a big scam for the rich to get richer. hopefully the LHC will come up with some alternative energy.
rob19841 3 years ago
your a moron if you sell your house do to wind turbines you deserve to be homeless anyway the bird in this is louder that the turbines
tsmith5253climber 3 years ago
WTF, I have been standing underneath and in the middle of a field of 100 turbines and i could barely hear anything, there was the quietest hum that i could only hear because i was standing next to them.
JUebbing 3 years ago
Just wait till they start fligging chunks of ice at you.
CordovaMage 3 years ago
well these must be some shitty turbines, i live near port alma and kruger energy just installed 44 turbines, and they dont make a peep.
andycap10 3 years ago 5
Why the fuck would these assholes make a lousy noisy turbine and then instead of fixing it go and make MORE of them.
Hephasteus9 3 years ago
i would prefer haging them play next or near one of those turbines rather then a radioactive neculear power plant.

Our government is systematically forcing rural residents to swallow this, no debate allowed.
mama146 3 years ago
Not to mention the stray voltage these folks are also living with! You people who refuse to believe there might be a "problem" with installing these huge generators so close to homes and children...shame on you. Would you like your kids to be sleeping just meters from these? These people were forced into the situation. Put up with it or move...if you can possibly sell. This isn't about wind power....this is about PEOPLE!
mama146 3 years ago
@mama146 people are pathetic, dirty, selfish creatures. for once something good is done and most of them moan about it. damn shame.
sheenasparkles 1 year ago
I'd be more than happy to move into one of these vacated homes as I have no problem with wind turbines and the sound they produce.
thebigdavester 3 years ago
Are you happy with stray voltage as well?
mashhammer 3 years ago
Stray Voltage? this is ridiculous...If stray voltage is so harmful, why isn't everyone dead in city centers?
jessey33 3 years ago
Jessey
I would like to thank you.
You childish rants have done more to discredit the wind industry than all my posts combined could ever hope to accomplish.
Thanks
atomcatt 3 years ago
@jessey33 - they are dead in city centers and other urban hellholes. they're already zombies, nobody normal from this planet would ever put up with what the braindead call 'progress' - it's just removing the natural landscape, and along with it all natural energies.
why do u think the lawnmowerman in the film of the same name, is so dumb. cause he uses noisy machinery, works for other zombies who want their environments to look artificial. of course they're all dead already.
randomlaughingman 1 year ago
I've got a few films tackling various issues on wind power...
And please do pass the link around :)
windpowerrocks 3 years ago
i've actually just got one question that i want answered...since these turbines pose such a health risk to people around the area, and you seem to know all about that. what abotu those that work on the turbines for a living? those that are climbing to the top to repair them? i currently work on those "health risks" and i'm in the best shape of my life. so come on...tell me what's going to happen to me? also it's easy to say soemthing noisy when your standing next to it.
95highline 3 years ago
I do know about the health risks posed by installing wind turbines to close to people's homes. I've been working with those affected for two years now. Thanks for accepting my knowledge.
That would be your decision as to what you what to work at.You get to leave when your done, the people don't
As a repairman, you should be very busy, as they seem to break down frequently.
The wind industry is the one that says they're quiet, not me.
All I did was shoot the video.
Stay safe while on the towers.
atomcatt 3 years ago
Do you live with it 24/7?? Of course not. C'mon, use some common sense.
mama146 3 years ago
those are quieter then 50 db's... which a office building is louder then that....so are all office workers in trouble?? get a life and stop filling the internet with junk
95highline 3 years ago
I suppose I could say the same to you.
Quit filling the farm fields with junk.
I don't know what your problem is.
People are suffering health problems and others have been forced to leave their homes, while others live in misery.
You don't seem to give a damn.
That my friend is Sad.
atomcatt 3 years ago
I don't think the atomcatt is anti-wind; he is anti-being-lied-too. If there are noise being white-washed, they need to be addressed honestly and in the best interest of all.
This doesn't mean scrap wind farms, it means deal openly with folks about the impact to the community.
mrhappy01 3 years ago
I agree with you mrhappy but BIG ENERGY is not about upfront communication and honesty, and as the video indicates, this is about more than green energy which is good. It is about big corporates wanting green credits and improving their public image and to hell with anyone else, especially local property owners who have concerns.
danu1mother 3 years ago
This is a bunch of bull crap.
According to your logic then everyone who lives within a 5 mile area of a train, bus, air port/air port landing and take off zone, or beach would be mentally unhealthy.
These are even quieter than any of those. This is crap and you know you were directly underneath those!
dougl126 3 years ago
I was at the road not underneath it. Besides it's the wind industry and the govt. that says you can stand underneath a wind turbine and it's super quiet, not me.
I just took the video. No tricks. What you see and hear is what you get.
Quote from someone living at the Ripley wind farm "our life is shit since the wind farm came".
What you fail to accept is that these people were lied to by both the govt. and the wind industry.
atomcatt 3 years ago
I live about 1/4 mile away from a train track and 3 miles from an airport. Those noises come and go....but they go. Wind turbines operate continuously. It would be interesting to see the frequency range these turbines produce. There is no such thing as a silent turbine. If there are moving parts then there is friction. Where there is friction, there is noise
TexasKoz 3 years ago
who is taping this?b/c your probably TRESPASSING..I would think if your standing under a moving turbine that it would be loud, next do it from the inside of your house & someone might sympathize...if it is so loud than why is the bird louder than the turbine..sounds like someone is anti-global warming & doesn't believe in saving the planet
lllahbndh 3 years ago
If you bothered to read the text - you can read?
You would notice people are moving out of their homes to get away from the noise of the turbines.
What exactly do wind turbines have to do with saving the planet?
Do you have an explanation you would like to share?
atomcatt 3 years ago
Do you think it is possibly just that kind of turbine that makes that noise? Because we travel and erect wind turbines on new and already existing wind farms all over the US and I have NEVER EVER EVER heard any noise what so ever. I agree that is a terrible noise and something should be done about that. BUT wind energy IS NOT a fraud.
michaelamberskinner 3 years ago
The Ripley wind farm is powered by 38 two-megawatt Enercon wind turbines. Worst I've heard so far. The other wind farms in Southern Ont. are using Vestas and have noise problems as well. The setbacks need to be extended by more than double the present ones.
atomcatt 3 years ago
Wow they are pretty noisy. They also make low frequenct noise. Did you know there is something call Wind Turbine Syndrome?
