I live near turbines as well, I have been close to them and you cannot hear a thing. Canada needs to step up its game in the turbine business, because they shouldn't be that loud.

Hey, I was watching the final scene in "Less than Zero" w/Downey, Gerth, and the very scary James Spader. In the end, they are driving past giant Wind "Farms" in California. From recent news, it does not look like the massive turbines out there have solved ANYTHING. It was filmed in 1987. Yikes! Truth is Denmark is no longer building them onshore ("too many complaints from residents"). Truth is setbacks have been increased to 2km + nightime operating restrictions imposed in several jurisdictions. Truth is Britain is having major, organized resistance to onshore IWTs. Read a little.

The US Government put up money for wind power but did not specify that the money had to be spent inside the USA so the grants ended up going to make windmills in China. So we paid China to make Wind Power to do basically all of the problems that you guys are complaining about.

Never heard of this Wind noise problem. they have these on hills outside of Mojawe, Ca. and never heard a complaint, but no one actually LIVEs within 1500 meters of them. there is a string of them very visible from Hwy 58 as you cross the Tahactapi Mountains.

Noise is recorded from the base of the tower then amplified greatly then overlaid on to footage shot far off to imply they are hugely noisy at distance - wind turbine blades are like glider wings -very quiet.

I went to Toora in Australia to look at the turbines. The wind in my ears was louder than the turbines. I could barely hear the turbine closest to me and certainly couldnt hear the other 11. Anti wind farmers need to have a good hard look at them selves. Id have one on my farm if there was money in it, no problem. Better than living in Latrobe Valley with all that coal being burnt.

I live about 1/4 mile away from a train track and 3 miles from an airport. Those noises come and go....but they go. Wind turbines operate continuously. It would be interesting to see the frequency range these turbines produce. There is no such thing as a silent turbine. If there are moving parts then there is friction. Where there is friction, there is noise

The Ripley wind farm is powered by 38 two-megawatt Enercon wind turbines. Worst I've heard so far. The other wind farms in Southern Ont. are using Vestas and have noise problems as well. The setbacks need to be extended by more than double the present ones.
