  • I gotta go with the GTI! All that low end turbo torque makes that car so livable on a daily basic. The Volvo seems lesbian like...the speed3 is for kids. the originator is still king. 200HP goes so smooth it seems like 250+....

  • I own both mazdaspeed3 and mazdaspeed6! Love em both.

  • Mazdaspeed3 all the way... you people just can't stand the fact MAZDA'S BACK!! Mazdamovement!

  • I drive a speed6 and enjoy the car quite a lot. When the bald one was reviewing the speed3 its cool not to like it but give me something that makes sense why you don't like it. It's like herding cats? and there isnt anything to like about this car? not helpful. maybe "first gear clutch engagement blows" or "the transmission is long and notchy" how can you not like a company who prides themselves on the amount of fun their cars are to drive. not a fan boy though would buy other companies

  • Seriously? No T-tops? C'mon Volvo!

  • I have a 2012 C30 R. Added the PoleStar performance. Takes the 235HP to about 270 w/ 273 foot pounds of torque. Hands down the better of the 3 ...

  • volvo is beautifull its style its 8:28

  • The rear Kiils it!

  • those two pieces of shit dont compare to the vw

  • im not the biggest volvo fan but my buddy is and works on them, and i can honestly say the r design c30 is 10 times better especially when you have a manual transmission

  • 2:17 Not necessarily true. Nerds can be hot.

  • Great Review!

  • Quite unfair to test with an auto equipped C30, totally different experience driving the stick shift. Quite baffling that they even make this type of car with an auto tranny in point of fact...

As for me, the C30 is more comfortable for long trip, looks a million time better, the interior is of obvious quality, the fit and finish is perfect in every way and the car is cheaper(at least here in Canada) when loaded than both the Mazda and Volks so it's a no-brainer.

  • Bottom line: the C30, manual or not, is strictly a commuter/road trip car. If it was actually meant to be the "sports coupe" that it's often referred to as, it would be RWD or AWD - not FWD. I admit it's fun to drive, but as mentioned, it lacks the power of the MS3 and the handling of the GTI. So until Volvo comes makes the PCP or some derivative of it, the C30 will always have that image of style without substance, as far as "true performance" is concerned.

  • these losers needed to test drive the volvo c30 in 6 speed manual. Beats the other two hands down.

  • The more I watch these episodes, the more I think that the long-haired guy must be the twin brother I never had. the short-haired guy becomes more and more annoying as I keep watching more episodes. he sounds about 40 years older than he is based on what he looks for in a car. and that's fine, but at least when the criteria or category is preset, one should judge the car within that definition and not what would be the best daily driver for him. I think that's the point he misses all the time.

  • mazdaspeed3 was best of the 3 )

    fastest, powerful, drives better

outside and inside looks way better

just because vw gti was good before and because people are saying it's a good car you don't have to follow everybody else, have your own opinion

mazaspeed3 is new on the market and because of that nobody knows about it

  • @alexlugovoy i agree halfway

  • @alexlugovoy But....that front end!

  • these guys are gay go mazda

  • Paul is a retard... that dude needs to grow a pair of balls!

  • I have driven both the gti and mazda speed 3, i agree with todd.. If your looking for a hothatch, hands down mazdaspeed3, its a hatch that when you drive, you'll pound on it and it will as for more, although its not as responsive as the gti, the mazda at the end of the day is what had me smiling and asking for more.... i rate it the same as todd, and for the gti, its overall balanced with nice interior and good handling, but at those corners its slightly slacks in response and power.

  • hey! Everyday Driver! I have a question, what's a good looking used sports or luxury car that's affordable for college students? I'm talking around 25k..recommendation would be helpful.

  • @xxNELLABOYZxx - Lots of good options, especially buying used - good plan there if you shop smart. Will send you a PM as this is a longer answer. Depends a bit on how much utility you need - everything from hatchbacks to two seat coupes available at this price point.

  • @EverydayDriver MAybe looking forward o Kia Soul ?

  • the GTi is simply no.1,its a hot hatch, its practicality, refinement, performance, and handling balanced altogether

  • I wanna see them take a 2002 chevy cavalier LS sport on these roads lol just for fun

  • I very much enjoy your reviews. I understand where some people come from when they comment on the bias towards Mazda in these videos. Lets be honest, there is quite a strong one there.

Thing is though, we all have our biases, especially when it comes to the cars we like. I absolutely refuse to look at a Hyundai Genesis based completely on the fact that I Haaate Hyundais, and nothing to do with the fact that the Genesis seems to be somewhat impressive.

    Thanks for the reviews!

  • the short hair driver comments on cars like he knows what he's gonna say about the cars after driving them before he drives them. He goes i hate mazda and after driving he goes boom...i don't like mazdaspee3 giving 2/4. And crazily appreciates the body style of volvo...ARE YOU *beep*ing SERIOUS?? That volvo body style don't looks THAT good, c'mon now...so you can calm down there. Im go watch some other car review channel...but not this. Oh yea and unsubscribing too.

  • @25tubes - Well we hope you'll watch other reviews on our channel before concluding you don't like what we do. It's not uncommon for a someone to disagree with one of the guys - they rarely agree with each other!

We hope you also noticed that while Paul didn't like the MazdaSpeed3 - Todd loved it.

  • Two 6MT's vs. a 5AT, two 2010 remakes vs. a 2006/7 model? Not really a fair comparison? I mean if you are going to buy a sports or sporty car you would chose a MT!

The 6MT C30 is much quicker and sportier than the 5AT. The current iteration of the R-design handles very well compared to the generation tested. I easily chose the 2011 C30 RD over the other two.

  • I dont get why people are comparing these guys with Top Gear. Top Gear has ridiculous amount of budget. This probably has 1% or less of what BBC spends on Top Gear. Plus Top Gear had its time to grow viewers, its on BBC for God sakes. And in the end, whether it is Clarkson, Hammond, and May or Paul and Todd, its an opinion on the less. You either choose to agree or disagree.

  • Is Paul wearing a baseball uniform's pants? Great review guys.

  • i think the bald dude is a fans of european cars

  • you guys make cars look like gladiators!!!

  • its like a car review on crack, slow down and show us the cars, too much opinion not enough cars. we take Clarksons opinions because we know and love him, those guys didn't earn that yet. just stick with the cars for now.

  • I love the MS3...i think its the sexiest but i still like the others. But everyone has opinions, right? I also think it handles well and it's pretty comfy to me!!

  • I love the MS3...i think its the sexiest but i still like the others. But everyone has opinions, right?

  • The outside was starting to win me over from the GTI but one look inside the Volvo and I'm back to the GTI

  • Lmao about the whole lip thing.

  • Thumb up if you think Todd should be in Top Gear America.

I think he is better than anyone featuring in TGA right now.

  • @l1l11l1ll1lll1 No he's not. He's a ENDLESS whiner about the damn car!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Why the hell would you even want more than 200 HP on a FWD car for? There is no point because of the torque steer

  • @fanfinmiami Please, it's barley noticeable. It's not like it rips your hands off of the wheel.

  • Punch him out Paul.. PUNCH HIM OUT

  • hottest hatchback ever is 147 gta........

  • As to fast; some guy in an EVO wanted to play, and I didn't realize what it was. He had to WORK to get past me, and when I saw what it was, I was pretty stoked. I really didn't expect the C30 to do so well against THAT kind of competition. ( It still has to compete with memories of my first Honda Civic 5-speed, and my '68 AMX. Who can stand up to nostalgia ? )

  • I had received info on Volvo's Overseas Delivery program some time ago, and had said that if they built something I would buy, I'd go for it. Well, the C30 was it. It successfully reminded me of the 1800E, and I was pleased by the review in Car and Driver. I knew I would be using it mostly for commuting and vacation trips. The trip to Sweden was a great bonus, and I enjoyed driving there. So I don't have any major problems with this review. It's sporty enough, and still gets 33mpg on trips.

  • Wait til the r20 gets here, I'd like to see your dumb face then!

  • german boring! hahahah

  • I really enjoy 2 totally different people reviewing these cars. Keep up the good work!... i'll take the MS3 simply cause it handles like a champ for track work

  • Very interesting comparo tho.

  • 3 very interesting cars! But for me, it would be the GTI hands down.

  • Jesus...enough pathetic female references. You're obviously trying to connect to your bro audience by making Clarkson-sounding comparisons. There's a double standard and you're on the shitty end of it!

  • Decent review...Its definitely not the best hatch but you should try and look at the C30 Diesel. From what most people here in the UK and Europe have said the Diesels are better. 2.5litre turbo charged engine with only 230bhp. Not good enough.

You should try the renualt megane r26 (if its in the USA) and the hondas tend to be good.

I have just purchased a c30 diesel and I do like it

  • GTI looks good.

  • I love how you guys didn't agree on anything!

Going to side with Todd in this comparison.

  • everyday driver, yet no new episodes every day. false advertising

  • this paul guy dont even know what the fuck he is talking about

  • Comment removed

  • I'm sorry Paul, but you say the opposite of everything I think in the video. Now I know should do everything opposite of what you think when it comes to cars =)

Nice show though! Like it alot!

  • their whole point about the gti being low on power is kind of silly. you can just one of those APR tunes and make 40 more HP and 50 more lb ft of torque for like $600

  • @ecurules - You're absolutely right, it's very possible to tune the GTI for more power. However, you can tune the others as well. As a result, we test the stock setups of each car. That's the way most people will encounter a car anyway and setup the OEM decided as "this is the way we want it".

  • @EverydayDriver Actually, the GTI is far more detuned from the factory than the MS3. Check your facts.

  • @wagdog1 - We aren't debating that, and we didn't say anything about the quality or amount of tuning provided by the manufacturer. We merely stated why we test the stock/factory setup.

  • @wagdog1 Quit being a fanboy. It's idiotic to start talking about modified cars in a review. weLl StIcK a HugE jDm TuRbo on my CiViC sI wiLl pWn yOur CamaRo.

You can modify anything to be faster than anything so it holds no weight. I want to know which car has the best design from the factory. Not how it performs with all the parts you read about on forums.

  • @ecurules

Yea, yea, yea every GTI owner and supporter says the same thing. Just need to spend a little and it has more power. Well, news flash, the volvo and the MS3 too. MS3 has restriction on the first 2 gears too. Just removing that makes it a 13 second car and it only costs $400. Oh wait, you probably don't want to hear that now do you? Cheerio.

  • @ecurules

It's almost 80lb ft more of torque. I have it on my GTI. It's insane.

  • Alright I'm fed up of not knowing the location of that road...So where is it?

  • @g8spikyhair - We use a lot of roads throughout Southern California. This one is Glendora, Ca. MotorTrend, Edmunds, and many others have also used it for Video and Photo shoots.

  • Your show is pretty good, you should try to do it weekly!!!1

    Thanks and great job!

  • wow, forgot i subscribed to this. please upload more often.

  • the Volvo is the nicest looking of all 3, followed by the VW and the Mazda

  • of these three, the mazda is the only real candidate in the performance category.

  • I drove all three today. Ordered the Volvo.

The MS3 is way fun, but I HATE the interior, and just feels cheap to me.

The GTI was WAY fun to drive, but all in all, it's a really hot Golf.

The Volvo gives up a tiny bit of performance, but as most of my driving is in the city and not on twisty canyon roads, it's way nicer to be in, and is still a lot of fun to drive.

If it were just a matter of fun, I'd take the GTI, but for an everyday car, the Volvo is still way fun and a lot better looking.

  • guy in black shirt = complete retard and very biased towards the car he likes. he knew way before the test which car he was gonna pick to win. guy in red shirt = a lot more realistic in his picks and actually makes sense when he talks

  • GTI win easily...

unfortunately they don't come Xenon headlights standard anymore...like the Mk5.

    I have the Mk5

  • @mikepartyboy I like the MK5 a lot!

  • I loved your review guys! Indeed, it was fantastically overdue: Oh, well. You do them for free, so I suppose I can understand. Please keep up the great work!

  • review wud b better if they show the car while they review....no one wants 2 see ur face while u talk...look at other car reviews...

  • SOOOO the sti wins

  • sooooo that ment GTi wins?

  • Ford... Bring the Focus RS to the US!!!!

  • In Canada, any of those cars are 30k+ and at that price or lower, you can have the all new 2011 Mustang with 305hp at 25-27k very well equiped.

Personaly that would be my choice.

  • uuuh its beautiful? Ok whatever its a good looking car but this guy is totally in love with it. Rrright!

  • I would take the Volvo hands down over the other two, PURELY for everyday driving conditions. It's not a sports car, but it's definitely sporty, and rather quick making the driving experience entertaining.

I can respect, however, the GTI and MAzdaspeed 3 for being genuine performance machines within their class.

  • I disagree, the refresh modernizes it!

  • i was looking into a c30 awhile back and the interior was HORRIBLE unless it was optioned like crazy. the car i looked at didnt even have cruise control (it was optional). id take the gti in a second. the other cars feel like $16k cars loaded up while the gti feels like a $35k german sedan with an efficient/deceptively quick turbo engine

  • whoa 1:04 , wat year rx8 is that? its like an 04? the front grill is aftermarket wat?

  • C30: no four-door version

    GTI: reliability issues

MS3: no sunroof. If one was available, this would be my choice

Therefore, I would go with an HHR SS

  • @bottomlayer LOL! HHR? You're joking, right? It may very well win on the utility side of things, and if you pack a powerful motor in it, it may also do just fine in a straight line. But no aspect of the HHR was engineered to be sporty whatsoever. And in terms of styling, well, it was designed by the same guy who designed the PT Cruiser, and it looks like it.

  • i saw a 2 door gti yesterday in my parking lot, and its really nice. not the most exciting sports car ive ever seen. that goes to the 5th gen camaro. but the gti is really nice. i like the spee3 because it just stands out like an asshole and thats kinda cool. lol i also like it because its different from anything else on the road. ive seen the volvo parked at the mall before on blackf riday and i was like. "what is that? never seen that before." its an interesting car. not awesome, but decent.

  • I'd want the styling from the Mazdaspeed3 (except the front smiling and whatnot), the performance from the GTI, and the luxury from the Volvo.

I think the winner is the Speed3 also, but since i'm looking for more a commuter car and whatnot, and only need space for 2 really, and need just adequite gear space, I'd go get the Volvo (overpriced car that they drove imo) but for 17K why not.

  • Sweet comparison guys, looking forward to seeing the video with the RX8, genesis coupe and G37

  • yea why does it take so long to put out a video i had already forgot about this

  • speed three wins hands down. its a the only hot hatch, the other are warm at best.

  • @lcstay10 have fun torquesteering into the wall

  • @CharlieHorn7 have you driven the car, yes it has torque steer, but the car limits the torque though the first 3 gears, and in my opinion while driving it, it was no more out of had than the gti. plus it will smoke it.

  • @lcstay10 as a mater of fact I have driven both cars. The Speed3 saps my confidence when I wanted to drive it fast. That chassis and the FWD with all that power just DON'T work. When I drove the Gti i was having fun. Might not have been winning any races but I could car less. Also, if you want to go fast there are cars far better suited for the job than the Speed 3

  • @lcstay10 in a straight line... go turning and they are about equal

  • the volvo is the worst

  • @ViperVenomACR LOL yeah, I so agree. The only thing they said it had going for it was looks. N I think it's Ugly so all fail.

  • We do realize this video is long overdue. We're sorry for the delay and are ramping back up to a new video every three weeks at least. Thanks for your patience.

  • only took forever to release this...

  • these guys
