Trotsky probably wouldn't have been too different from Stalin had he come to power in the USSR instead. Maybe a bit less terror and a whole lot more invading other countries, but many of the basic components would still be there.
@YoshiTheBlue He was not so violent like Stalin. Maybie he could ahve caused worldwide spread of Communism, what Stalin avoided. Just what i think... We will never know what would have happened
Yeah, he wasn't as violent as Stalin, but he never really got the chance to be. Trotsky only had like three years as leader of the Red Army in the Civil War, while Stalin has several decades as the Vozhd of the USSR. Trotsky's little World Revolution idea would have certainly led to a lot of bloodshed with other countries, and perhaps even lead to a premature collapse of the USSR. Stalin's more pragmatic Socialism in one Country lessened the former and avoided the latter.
@YoshiTheBlue Trotsky was preffered by the Communists, until Stalin achieved to claim him to be a traitor. That was the problem, Stalin was afraid of everyone that was against him. In my opinion, Stalin was more of an army general than a country leader.
Stalin did not only have 3 years as lead of the Red Army, he had Six , and much more political experience. It was Stalin who drowned his power.
Stalin before becoming leader had barely good experience
@spanish111japan I'm assuming that first instance of Stalin in your second paragraph was meant to be Trotsky. Anyways, the whole point of that was that Stalin had more opportunities to be a brutal monster than Trotsky did. Stalin wasn't really much of a general, considering the fact that he murdered most of his good officers in the Terror. The Terror itself was a good move politically. It let him eliminate anyone who could pose a threat to his power, which helped maintain stability in the war.
@YoshiTheBlue No, don't assume. It was Trotsky. I've even checked it as I was not sure, and before the death of Lenin, Trotsky had more skills to lead a nation.
It would had been better if Stalin led the red army and Trotsky the USSR, they were in the wrong position.
A general would do basicly what he did. He killed any suspicious, that's how it was done in war time
The terror helped in the war, but it was more time out of war than in war. How can that be justified?
It can't be justified, and I'm not trying to justify it, but it still helped him from a purely pragmatical point of view. Even out of war, it helped him maintain his power in the face of growing unrest in the USSR. The Terror got rid of potential enemies and made most too afraid to even try to oppose Stalin. Given the political climate of the USSR, Trotsky would either have had to achieve a similar affect, or risk losing power.
@YoshiTheBlue He wasn't stupid, he knew how to keep power. It got rid from enemies, but also innocent people, suspects without proof who were executed. Trotsky would not have done such policy of agressive lead. It can be seen with his speeches and his being. @spanish111japan I'm not denying he was corrupt or anything. I'm hardly a fan of Stalin or his policies. Still, you can't deny that, as brutal as they were, many of them did work. I just doubt that Trotsky would have been much better. Even if Trotsky wasn't as brutal as Stalin, it was mainly Stalin's brutality that helped the USSR develop industrially, which helped them fight off the Nazis. Without Stalin's rapid industrialization, WWII might have turned out very differently, in Hitler's favor.
@YoshiTheBlue Yes, of course they did work, but were too brutal to be morally acceptable. It would have been a better leade depending of how you think good leaders are for your interests, it depends. Stalin helped at WWII a lot, and industrialized the country, it was good, but what was not good is the cost for the industrialization. Who knows? Maybie Trotsky would have turned repressive or had strong policies.

@stureremil1942 are those words coming from a bureaucrat??? you make me laugh, i think you dont even know what is communism.Stalin betrayed and killed communism...
trotsky would never have repseed the people, he never would have created gulags, he never would have use dictatorship, he would never have banned anything nor kill anybody.
@XxPhoenixHarpyexX2 True that is true about what you say about Trotskey. But keep in mind Stalin was a harsh leader. If you did even the slightest thing he did not like, death was a possible punishment for you. So when the Nazis invaded Russia, it was BECAUSE of Stalin's harsh leadership that the Russians won. If it wasn't for Stalin's harsh leadership, many of the Russian troops might have retreated and then later on being captured by the Nazis which would result in the possibility of
@XxPhoenixHarpyexX2 the Nazis conquering Russia. If Trotskey were leader, I doubt he would have have as harsh a leadership as Stalin because he actually cared about the people. He would have let the soldiers retreat and save their lives, but Stalin made them stand their ground till the last man stood, which made them defeat the Nazis. But don't get me wrong, Stalin was a complete devil for murdering his own people. You get what I'm saying.
@RyanBrooksby Yeah that's what I'm saying. Zhukov threw waves of men at the Nazis until they just virtually ran out of bullets. But if Trotskey was in office, he would (most likely) never have allowed Zhukov to do that because as I said before, he actually cared about the people and their lives.
@TheJaceMaster i agree, i guess trotsky was too democratic and kind hearted to win ww2. only someone has powerful has stalin was able to do war. though, i do not believe that stalin was a BIG murderer as the fascist in the west laim he was. though i would believe that stalin exterminated the red army and far leftists. stalin's cruelt was also a fictional exageration .
@XxPhoenixHarpyexX2 Well i do think Stalin was cruel. It is widely rumored that he killed his wife! And he kill many many more people that got "too popular" within the Communist party. He was just too scared of opposition
@fantasy7004 Stalinism killed a lot of people. Communism has never existed in human society. Capitalism kills 15 million a year from starvation and has a majority of the world's people living on less than $2 a day.

Yeah, Stalin was a murderer. But he also geared up moral for the Soviets to go into the war. Russians stupid? No the Russians werent stupid, just merely fighting for their freedom.
Chưa chắc gì tự do chính trị kiểu Mỹ đã tốt!!
i can feel the power of the soviet's WW2 in this music. now i see why soviets won the war, cuz this music is very powerful. it speaks out loud, feels my heart with bravery when i hear it.
@SovietLenin1 Never! i never forgotten the true hero of the soviet union. But it would have been nonsense to have spoken about him in this video about stalin and WW2. I guess there is a place to talk aboiut everything in a proper manner. Lenin is great, but in this video, lets talk good for once about stalin. thanks for your reply
@XxPhoenixHarpyexX2 I cant say i have a great and lovely heart for Stalin after just letting the union starve to death... Yet he was a great general and a politican i can admit... But thats all.
@SovietLenin1 nonetheless, this isnt THE right video to talk about brutality of stalin or about Lenin himself. I see you were searching someone for a debate of to relieve your mind with your inner anger. its ok, we all have different point of views. But still, this video is about stalin, bad he was or not, many still love him and this video was made for him. I am myself also a Leninist and very anti-nationalist. Still without Stalin, today the world would have been Nazi
@Happyduderawr He was a GREAT general... Besides Russia nearly had any military technology at the tide... They mainly consentrated at industry. Russians had only one good tank type. It was lS-1, 2 and 3. The only good machine gun was PPSH-42. Otherwise than that the Russians had nearly no military technology besides from those who remained ever sense the 1890's...
@hobucac Stalin's death count is a technicality because of how he ran the country. Many died in Ukraine because of starvation. They blame Stalin because he took their grain to sell. Why did he do this? Russian raw materials were not selling. It was half about what you said, by the way. If he had never sold the grain, the entire union would have collapsed. Hundreds of millions would be dead. Count poverty as the president killing people. That is in millions, themselves.
@TrollmanIsTroll You're only telling half the story about starvation in the USSR. The NKVD would confiscate grain and SHOOT anyone who tried to take it from the fields, the people who were starving. Stalin wanted to weaken western Ukraine because it was a hotbed of nationalist sentiment. I guess that makes it all ok in your book though.
Also, the same thing happened in Communist China and Cambodia under Mao and Pol Pot. Large segments of the population were deliberately starved to death.
@Sleepy1988 Stalin was effective at mobilizing the whole country and giving it resources to win the war. But Stalin had also starved countless people in the later SSR's. He would break communities up as a move to prevent any possibilities of an uprising against him. Although he did lead the Soviet Union to win the war, he was a terrible dictator too. Paranoia and the fear of losing power lead him to do all these.
@CivilisedHumanity You're right, he was a terrible, paranoid man. I would say he was only a figurehead in the fight against the Germans and their allies though. He refused to believe his own intelligence services when they warned him that the Germans were preparing for an attack. The abysmal performance and lack of preparedness of the Red Army during the initial months of the invasion can, in large part, be layed at his feet. He seemed to think if he just ignored the problem it would go away
@Sleepy1988 Yup, you're very right. He was something of a figurehead, not really something the people adored or worshiped. He refused to listen to the intelligence that came from a spy in Japan, that's why he was initially awe struck, and the Germans had the upper-hand. It was almost fatal, really. They were just at the outskirts of Moscow when the winter started coming and they started to retreat a little. That was when Stalin initiated his huge offensive.
@hobucac No one comes close ? I can name you couple of men that did. Among them is Hitler who is responsible for 27 million dead Russians. Not to mention the Yugoslavs, Poles, jews, etc. that lost their lives thanks to him.
Hermosa cancion.
Fuck Stalin, may he rot in a whole for all of eternity. He killed his own country. Had any other person taken control after Lenin, the Red Army would have been 1000% stronger. I'm amazed how Stalin even managed such a strong army with his dumb-ass tactics. Stalin wanted a loyal, Japanese-type army but instead got the opposite due to his incompetence. Long live the Red Army, but long suffer Stalin. This goes out to the modern-day Spetsnaz: the only remnants of the real Red Army today. :D
@stureremil1942 Do not even attempt to defend that Russian pig Stalin. He killed his own country, he did not evolve it. May Trotsky live forever, he should have been the true inherent of the power of the USSR. May the world love the Red Army for saving everyone. Germany was ready to use the resources of conquered countries to fuel its own war machine. The Red Army saved the world from the Nazi regime. America wasn't nearly as strong and neither was England (even with its superior airforce).
@Lavron4151 You stupid fuck if it wasn't for Stalin there wouldn't be any Russia standing today. Why the fuck would a true communist support a nazi lover like Trotsky is beyond me.
@TheBlindPowerslave Wow, check up on your research. Can I ask you why you like a leader who killed millions of his own people? Who gives a fuck about industrialization!? The Red Army was there before douchebag stalin. In fact, Stalin made it worse, he killed millions of his own soldiers and scared it shitless leading to millions more in desertions. Stalin is a pig that almost himself brought the end of the USSR,not the nazis. You're probably American, so you love Stalin, of course.
@Lavron4151 Haha here's a funny response. I have a much funnier one:
1- Every single historian or economist would fuck the hell out of someone who thinks industrialisation did not save the USSR.
2- The modernisation of the Red Army was done under Stalin's regime.
3- He most certainly did not kill any soldiers as those soldiers gave their lives to save their motherland and the fact that you make it look like they died in vain is monstrous.
4- Any veteran would agree that stalin's saved the USSR.
@TheBlindPowerslave lol, oh my god you're a troll. I just searched your comments and you just go about every video that insults communism in the slightest and then you use the "f" word like a little jackass to defend your points. Get a life, stop trolling, stop spamming, stop living out of your mom's basement. Get a nice girl to live with, make a family, beat your children if you have to and raise them up loving Stalin, but don't spread your garbage all over youtube. Enough said.
@Lavron4151 Nice. apart from being an utter moron you also like to say people what they should do with their lives. But I have a better plan for your life: How about you roll your pride, make small ball with it, then shove it up your ass? Isn't it a much better thing to do than rot because of it?
@Lavron4151 I also feel the need to say that I am not american. Even the most fucking idiot person in this world knows that Americans hate Stalin. You are the stupid American here, not me.
@TheBlindPowerslave Why are all of your comments just senseless name-calling while mine actually contain real facts? Do some research and back up your points up or else you can just fuck off because name calling has no place here you 12-year-old troll. Respond to Stalin killing his own people or forever hold your shit dumbass.
@Lavron4151 There was class struggle in USSR. Stalin with his comrade has fought against bourgeois in Party. The end of USSR is caused by revisionist clique of Khrushchev and Brezhnev.
@Lavron4151 All the time I hear people saying f*ck Stalin, and f*ck rhe communist party of the USSR, but you know who really killed more people than Stalin? It was the "great" Mao Zedong. He killed 35 million people. And they were all his own people. So my point is, look at the obvious truth. We have been taught by he past generation of Americans that Stalin was the second most evil person in the world. But when it comes to Mao, we say nothing as if he didn't kill 35 million people.

@Ckit9 The 35 million people that died, majority in the Great Leap Forward, died primarily due to the fact that it took place during the greatest drought in Chinese history up until that time. Alot of people don't realize that the USSR and CHina were fairly backward when they tried to industrialize, hence all the deaths. Mao was pretty authoritarian but comparing him to Stalin is a little of a stretch. He certainly wasn't sending people to Gulags and writing death warrants left and right...
@Ckit9 So what, we must see now Stalin as a great man just because he killed less humans than Mao?? You are right we must see all the criminals and that including USA, Russia, China, Germany, Uk and list goes on
@admckay2011 The Soviet Union didnt save anyones asses unless you count the eastern European countries that they then went on to exploit and steal from.
guys, let me ask a question-why Russians hate Stalin? We have one moment in history that when the war on the west(Germany) has been finished, there was the end of reorganisation of Red Army at same time, and commander Georgy Zhukov says:"Comrade Stalin, let's take all over the Europe. We have a big and powerful army in the world.Us are far away, their army are nothing.France and UK are small,Germany defeated,we have all chances-No,the country and people are tired".So Stalin safe Europe
not yet,-USSR on that moment of time had one of the modernest and biggest Anti air defence system in the World.Becauce the Industry was only on War plans.So... there war a chanse))sorry for my bad English)
@SadisticSatisfaction No, the ones that think that stealing from others and making their lives completely miserable just to improve their own are the ones I speak of. The capitalists.
@indoorin There was no problem with their form of government. It was the greedy, the corrupt, and the ones that had absolutely no moral values that drove the Soviet Union into the ground.
I'll be honest. I can get along with a communist just fine. If that system was possible (it could never be due to human nature in terms of power, in my opinion, but that's just my opinion), I would certainly consider it. I think Americans and Russians need to get past their past differences and realize that they are all human beings, well capable of fighting the fascism in the world that we see today. Long live the Republic, Slava Rossiya, death to the New World Order! We can all be sovereign!
While American and Russian people have both disagreed with each other thanks to politicians and their corporate controllers, both countries have been known to fight a good fight against tyranny in their time. I am a free market capitalist. The United States hasn't been free market capitalist in ages. The capitalism that communists think about is corporatism, where the multinational corporations and banking dynasties control the government which in return controls the people.

stureremil1942 2 months ago
@stureremil1942 are those words coming from a bureaucrat??? you make me laugh, i think you dont even know what is communism.Stalin betrayed and killed communism...
trotsky would never have repseed the people, he never would have created gulags, he never would have use dictatorship, he would never have banned anything nor kill anybody.
XxPhoenixHarpyexX2 1 month ago
@XxPhoenixHarpyexX2 Stalin didn't betray communism. Trotsky is a creator of Red Army. He killed many people.
stureremil1942 1 month ago
@XxPhoenixHarpyexX2 True that is true about what you say about Trotskey. But keep in mind Stalin was a harsh leader. If you did even the slightest thing he did not like, death was a possible punishment for you. So when the Nazis invaded Russia, it was BECAUSE of Stalin's harsh leadership that the Russians won. If it wasn't for Stalin's harsh leadership, many of the Russian troops might have retreated and then later on being captured by the Nazis which would result in the possibility of
TheJaceMaster 1 month ago
@XxPhoenixHarpyexX2 the Nazis conquering Russia. If Trotskey were leader, I doubt he would have have as harsh a leadership as Stalin because he actually cared about the people. He would have let the soldiers retreat and save their lives, but Stalin made them stand their ground till the last man stood, which made them defeat the Nazis. But don't get me wrong, Stalin was a complete devil for murdering his own people. You get what I'm saying.
TheJaceMaster 1 month ago
@TheJaceMaster
no, Zhukov threw men at the Nazis till they couldn't take it anymore. Stalin did nothing but kill his best generals and ruin Russia.
RyanBrooksby 1 month ago
@RyanBrooksby Yeah that's what I'm saying. Zhukov threw waves of men at the Nazis until they just virtually ran out of bullets. But if Trotskey was in office, he would (most likely) never have allowed Zhukov to do that because as I said before, he actually cared about the people and their lives.
TheJaceMaster 1 month ago
@TheJaceMaster i agree, i guess trotsky was too democratic and kind hearted to win ww2. only someone has powerful has stalin was able to do war. though, i do not believe that stalin was a BIG murderer as the fascist in the west laim he was. though i would believe that stalin exterminated the red army and far leftists. stalin's cruelt was also a fictional exageration .

XxPhoenixHarpyexX2 6 months ago
@XxPhoenixHarpyexX2 I cant say i have a great and lovely heart for Stalin after just letting the union starve to death... Yet he was a great general and a politican i can admit... But thats all.

@SovietLenin1 nonetheless, this isnt THE right video to talk about brutality of stalin or about Lenin himself. I see you were searching someone for a debate of to relieve your mind with your inner anger. its ok, we all have different point of views. But still, this video is about stalin, bad he was or not, many still love him and this video was made for him. I am myself also a Leninist and very anti-nationalist. hobucac 5 months ago
@hobucac That happend AFTER WW II... And a general aint the same as a murder / massacre... I feel only disgust for him. But he was a great general...
SovietLenin1 5 months ago
@hobucac Stalin's death count is a technicality because of how he ran the country. Many died in Ukraine because of starvation. They blame Stalin because he took their grain to sell. Why did he do this? Russian raw materials were not selling. It was half about what you said, by the way. If he had never sold the grain, the entire union would have collapsed. Hundreds of millions would be dead. Count poverty as the president killing people. That is in millions, themselves.
TrollmanIsTroll 4 months ago
@TrollmanIsTroll You're only telling half the story about starvation in the USSR. The NKVD would confiscate grain and SHOOT anyone who tried to take it from the fields, the people who were starving. Stalin wanted to weaken western Ukraine because it was a hotbed of nationalist sentiment. I guess that makes it all ok in your book though.
Also, the same thing happened in Communist China and Cambodia under Mao and Pol Pot. Large segments of the population were deliberately starved to death.
Sleepy1988 4 months ago
@Sleepy1988 Stalin was effective at mobilizing the whole country and giving it resources to win the war. But Stalin had also starved countless people in the later SSR's. He would break communities up as a move to prevent any possibilities of an uprising against him. Although he did lead the Soviet Union to win the war, he was a terrible dictator too. Paranoia and the fear of losing power lead him to do all these.
CivilisedHumanity 3 months ago
@CivilisedHumanity You're right, he was a terrible, paranoid man. I would say he was only a figurehead in the fight against the Germans and their allies though. He refused to believe his own intelligence services when they warned him that the Germans were preparing for an attack. The abysmal performance and lack of preparedness of the Red Army during the initial months of the invasion can, in large part, be layed at his feet. He seemed to think if he just ignored the problem it would go away
Sleepy1988 3 months ago
@Sleepy1988 Yup, you're very right. He was something of a figurehead, not really something the people adored or worshiped. He refused to listen to the intelligence that came from a spy in Japan, that's why he was initially awe struck, and the Germans had the upper-hand. It was almost fatal, really. They were just at the outskirts of Moscow when the winter started coming and they started to retreat a little. That was when Stalin initiated his huge offensive.
CivilisedHumanity 3 months ago
@hobucac No one comes close ? I can name you couple of men that did. Among them is Hitler who is responsible for 27 million dead Russians. Not to mention the Yugoslavs, Poles, jews, etc. that lost their lives thanks to him.

stureremil1942 10 months ago
@stureremil1942 Do not even attempt to defend that Russian pig Stalin. He killed his own country, he did not evolve it. May Trotsky live forever, he should have been the true inherent of the power of the USSR. May the world love the Red Army for saving everyone. Germany was ready to use the resources of conquered countries to fuel its own war machine. The Red Army saved the world from the Nazi regime. America wasn't nearly as strong and neither was England (even with its superior airforce).

Lavron4151 9 months ago
@Lavron4151 Haha here's a funny response. I have a much funnier one:

He certainly wasn't sending people to Gulags and writing death warrants left and right...

guys, let me ask a question-why Russians hate Stalin? We have one moment in history that when the war on the west(Germany) has been finished, there was the end of reorganisation of Red Army at same time, and commander Georgy Zhukov says:"Comrade Stalin, let's take all over the Europe. We have a big and powerful army in the world.Us are far away, their army are nothing.France and UK are small,Germany defeated,we have all chances-No,the country and people are tired".So Stalin safe Europe

AmericanPatriot92 1 year ago 3
While American and Russian people have both disagreed with each other thanks to politicians and their corporate controllers, both countries have been known to fight a good fight against tyranny in their time. I am a free market capitalist. The United States hasn't been free market capitalist in ages. The capitalism that communists think about is corporatism, where the multinational corporations and banking dynasties control the government which in return controls the people.
