Michael has 1000 times more energy in his voice than the other guy...that's all that matters to me - when you're recording a theme song about high school kids, that is vital. I assume it was all a money thing when they aired the other version more often?? I remember traveling to San Diego with my parents in the summer of 1991 and staying at the Mission Beach Resort the first time I heard this version on the TV, as I was getting ready to go swimming. Funny how those memories stay with you. :)
